Yeah, the Green Note is great, suspicious vegetarianism notwithstanding: I have a few visits to there lined up this month. You're right that there's usually rather too much black lipgloss and ridiculous drainpipes on show, but I've found The Enterprise at the Haverstock Hill/Chalk Farm Road junction (not technically Camden, I suppose) to have quite a lot of good stuff on (going there tonight to see Jenny Owen Youngs, but she is of an unusually high quality); Undersolo (NOT Underworld) is pretty good sometimes. |

Camden's a frustrating place. I want to love it, but I find myself all too frequently rubber-necking in horrified fashion every time I go. Something at some point went wrong with the Camden dream, methinks. I was meant to be seeing Nina Nastasia on Wednesday but I stupidly double-booked myself. Bah. |

+ by Justice. It's good, but I always feel a little silly listening to house music in my bedroom. |

I like Soulwax's remix of Phantom no. 2. And I like to leap around like a tit to dance music when no one's looking... |

iTunes has rendered me obsolete; their new Genius feature allows me to pick a song, hit a button, and the machine will then construct the most appropriate playlist for the type of song I chose. Skynet, here we come. |

iTunes is free too. I'm also lazy. That was the main point of the story.
That's what they'd like us to think. |

It's really good. I prefer the tracks where her voice is more prominent (Mysteries, Romance, Resolve, Funny Time of Year) and Drake - which must be about Nick Drake - is a fantastic song. Needless to say, absent her voice, it'd all be a rather irrelevant lo-fi mess, but for the most part the arrangements really suit her. |
