Hey, don't knock the O. She helped me lose the weight. Then gain it back. Then lose it again. |

This is ridiculous. Paris Hilton would have been a more deserving recipient. |

When I woke up there was a CBS Special Report on the TV. I was still half asleep and didn't have my glasses on but it looked like it said "Obama awarded Nobel Peace Prize". The sound was off on the TV so I wasn't sure. I stumbled around looking for my glasses and said out loud "what the fuck did that say?". By the time I found them the special report was over so I got on the computer and sure enough...... Any idea why they did this? Isn't this sort of bizarre? |

On the plus side, the right-wing blogsphere and talk radio punditry are apoplectic over this development. Should provide some quality entertainment.

Get your popcorn ready, cause here it goes....... :auss: ![]() GRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you can't be f**king serious! Barak Hussain Obama mmmm...mmmm....mmmm, winning the nobel prize??? I knew the standards were low when they gave it to the late terrorist camel jockey(Arafat), and to the smartest white man in the world( Al Gore), but this is absof**kinglutely insane. Barry has done Jack Shit to earn the prize except for his efforts to wreck this great country. Sweet Flaming Asscrakers! As I see it now the Nobel Prize is now meaningless!

I really don't follow either...do you think you could provide us with amusing links as the cacophony unfolds? :captspauld: edit: minus Palentine's entertaining rant, of course.

 I'm not angered by it, just...perplexed. I guess I'd say "good for him" for winning the thing, but this really calls into question the credibility of the Nobel committee. I mean, are these same standards (good intentions+potential) going to be applied to all the other Nobel Prize categories now? |

Even some die-hard leftist activists I know are scratching their heads and saying "the hell?" They want to know why people like Morgan Tsvangirai, Aung San Suu Kyi, the Dalai Lama, etc. haven't been recognized. The simple answer is that it's a racket and doesn't accomplish anything. The long answer is that it's a complex process that factors in politics, popularity, and other non-peace related factors to give a man a shiny medal. So, kinda like the Olympics... |

Probably because the last two already have been. ![]() Although I agree, Tsvangirai would have been a much better choice than Barack Obama. |
