'Tis I, that damned fool.

I think the UK political situation has managed to make me dislike every party, every commentator, every government supporter and every opponent. Currently topping my list are the Clegg-hating brigade, though I'm sure I'll move on to loathing another set of the self-righteous soon enough.

I didn't realise I had that much more room for political cynicism in my life. It's the gift that keeps on giving, give me surfeit of it...

Ooh, interesting. I have plenty of Clegg-hating friends (not one myself, didn't vote for him so don't mind too much, but I did get riled up at the Lib Dem MPs who said they might vote for just to spite Labour). Why do you hate the Clegg-haters?

Hmm. What would you have had him do? Bomb bomb Iran?

Sadly, there was no good option in Iran. If we had taken strong, overt action the regime would have used that to drum up support for itself. If we took no action at all......well that's basically what we did and we saw the uprising squashed. At the very least we could have given moral support to the protesters, we could have given them words of encouragement to let them know that we were on their side. Words were about the best weapons we could have sent them but for some bizarre reason we didn't even send that.

I don't so much hate as struggle to hide my withering contempt. Most of the criticism fails to demonstrate any understanding of the nature of this coalition in particular and coalitions in general; energy would be better expended going after the Tories but, no, instead we get this bizarre toys out of the pram "traitor! traitor" nonsense. And then there are the people who've conveniently forgotten everything that was shit about Labour, rushed back into their gummy embrace and started confidently asserting that it was ALL about the banks and actually the last government weren't to blame for the economy developing suicidal tendenciesomygodtheRAGEISCOMING.

I probably should read less Comment is Free, to be fair.

He did at the very end. By then it was pretty much over though.

And the state run media has wasted no time claiming civilian casualties. I hope these reports are just fabrication by Ghadaffi's goons to stir sympathy and force a cease fire. I'm going to be so glad when that bastard is out for good.

Well you knew they would do that. Sadly, there probably will be civilian casualties in the first phase of this while we're trying to knock out their air defences. Of course any casualties that occur, even if it's people that Gaddafi kills with his bare hands, will be blamed on us from here on out.

Whilst I deplore the Obama's reticence to participate, I do sort of understand why; a change of government in Libya is way more in France and the UK's interest then it is the US's - by which I mean it would be exceedingly detrimental to the UK and France if Twatfeatures stayed in power, rather then we would get something nice out of it.

Of course, if he does remain in power, I can see the possibility of a boots on the ground war in a few years time, simply on account of the fact that Twatfeatures will not let this slide: we can look forward to him sponsoring terrorism again, perhaps an attack on the scale of Lockerbie (what I meant to detrimental to the UK and France), which we won't let slide again.

With regards to civilian casualties inflicted by coalition forces - yeah, it will happen, and Twatfeatures will blame us - which considering he blames the west for pretty much everything is hardly surprising. The rebels will blame Twatfeatures

Heh. I'm tempted to implement a new word filter: Gadaffi -> Twatfeatures. :P

(Only no one's ever quite sure if they spelled his name right, so it would never work.)

Anyhow:

"[Libya shows] the president had no qualifications for this job and we elected him anyway. And it's worse than we thought."

Yeah, he's pretty much running again. Wonder what his losing strategy will be this time around?
