So I thought I'd translate this joke for my sig.

My original suggestion:

"The IntFeds seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the drafting skills of celery. They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a cuisinart, let alone the government of the entire world. The NatSovs, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't bother to stop because they'd want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the Strangers' Bar."

Snefaldia proposed:

"The IntFeds seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the drafting skills of celery. They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a cuisinart, let alone the government of the entire world. The NatSovs, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't bother to stop because it's not the WA's business to get involved in tire-changing."

Which is better? Snefaldia's has the merit of being more accurate, so I'm leaning to that one! Might not capture the callousness best though. >.>

The NatSovs, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't bother to stop because it's not the WA's business to get involved in tire-changing, and besides, they don't want to be late for Ugly Pants Night at the Strangers' Bar."

Might work, unless you think that combining them waters down the punchline somehow.

edit: yeah, it does sort of water it down. I'd go for the first translation, if you don't like my solution.

"The IntFeds seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the drafting skills of a paraplegic carrot with a sweet spot for ranch dressing . They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a cuisinart, let alone the government of the entire world. The NatSovs, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but think it more fun to moon you as they speed by yelling 'You should have bought a domestic!'"

There's my twist. :)
