Here you can provide a detailed description of the cultures of your gods' followers and how your worship and rule has affected them. |

There's probably a few that hang on. I'll bet there are still followers of Dakephous around that didn't defect to Eirene or the Kai. |

Depends on the god. Talkative ones who keep throwing visions around will be noticed to have gone silent much faster than the more passive types who act mainly at the peripheries. |

So, to stop this completely derailing...am I doing this right, or do I need to make a new thread of this like Watcher did for the Family? Followers of Ollphéist Pre-deity culture: Not much is known about the culture of Ollphéist followers before they began worshiping Ollphéist. It is believed that they may have had connections with the druids of their land, but it is not yet known if they worshiped them or not. The followers of Ollphéist have been shown to be skeptical, which is a quality that Ollphéist admires (it likes critical thinking), and this can lead to paranoia and superstition about things around them. Culture changes: Ollphéist's worshipers have shown no direct changes in culture due to the influence of their deity. |

Followers of Terron Pre-deity culture: The people of Petra were once simple farmers, barely scraping by in the harsh desert valley. Culture changes: Terron's followers are now filthy rich, crafting beautiful art and digging up precious gems to sell to the surrounding cities, protected by an ever growing army. |

Femercine's Cultural Influence on Rhodes Before Femercine: Rhodes was very much a trading city with the families who make the most from trade governing the affairs of Rhodes. They were not all that religious with there only being a few priests, mostly Baal, Thekasios and Orubashi. Cultural Changes: Most of the city has respect for women with a fair number respecting prostitutes, if only because they fear Femercine having them castrated or killed. The people of Rhodes have become very sensual and open thanks to Femercine's teachings and miracles. |

Kalichara
|
I've been neglecting this post for a while, and here it is. The Society of the Kalicharans Society Kalicharan society is much different than the surrounding regions. They are ruled by what I like to call “Merchant Chieftains”. Merchant chieftains are selected by the amount of wealth that they obtain and faith that they have in Kalichara, and are usually chosen by ritualistic games that occur every 30 or so years. Once a Merchant Chieftain is chosen, a festival occurs in the name of the Deep One, and guttural throat singing, accompanied by the beating of giant leather hide drums is done at the very end of the festival. Very rarely is there a sort of inherited rule in Kalicharan society. In the Aegean, the Delian tyrants still worship Kalichara in their old ways, although there is a gradual shift towards the implementation of Delian Merchant Chieftains. There is a standing army, and with Prota ideals spreading, there is more of a push to make an army and fortify borders. Political rule Merchant Chieftains control the input and output of wealth in Kalicharan Society. However, they aren’t absolute rulers. They have vizors who handle social policies, management of public places, and law enforcement. There is a strong tie between politics and religion. In a way, Kalicharan politics are the lovechild of Bantu kinship societies and Roman republic politics. People Likewise, the people themselves are different. In the meeting houses that are located in the population centers of Kalichopolis and Dobar-Grad, people freely discuss current events and smoke water weed to tap into the noumenal to gain visions and knowledge. Markets are other places where people discuss philosophical ideals. The average Kalicharan citizen is more literate than their counterparts in Scythia and Thrace. This rise in literacy is probably a result of Kalichara’s spreading of the Simple Manifesto, for his followers to read his teachings. Architecture Kalicharan architecture has also changed. Before the influx of Thracian refugees, most housing was made from logs and thatch housing. With the implementation of trade, new architectural ideas were introduced, and as a result, housing began to change. The average Kalicharan house now has circular tile roofing and stone bricks. Kalicharan temples are a more modest affair. While traditionally, Kalicharan shrines had thatch roofing and were made of large sticks, now they are made of strips of bronze roofing, and are carved from limestone. Economics The Kalicharan economy is driven by the sea. Black Sea bass, carp, and mussels are the primary exports to other places in the Mediterranean, as well as mangrove fruit, cattail grains, and lily berries being other important exports. Imports include biremes from the Aegean, furs, silk, and grain. The implementation of trade routes has allowed Kalicharan society to flourish, and the influx of wealth has resulted in the creation of the ancient world’s first free market, which attracts people from all over the known world. The newly created Black Sea isles are another big trading hub, and many powerful merchants have begun to create temples in Kalichara’s name, all under the eye of the Merchant Chieftain. Many Kalicharans make their living by fishing, going out from ports on Catamarans, where they have enchanted nets, which attract the bounty of fish for harvesting. They return to the harbors three days after fishing to sell their catches. And that's how you do a cultural analysis. Edited by Admantus, Sep 21 2014, 05:30 PM.
