1. Maintain a standard of writing; a couple of spelling errors on their own are nothing to worry about, but a solid block of spelling and grammatical errors has a demoralising effect on any fellow roleplayer.

2. Respect the sovereignty of the original poster of a thread. That is their thread; they should be consulted and in the know about the thread’s plot. If the original poster has been gone a long time and the thread involves several characters, consult an admin or moderator.

3. Implying sexual situations between adult characters is acceptable. A "fade to black" is the easiest way to do this, but explicit scenes are not permitted. No exceptions.

4. We do have a rule on posting at least a paragraph; however, if it doesn't happen often, the rule will not be enforced.

5. If any potentially triggering things are occurring or being discussed in a thread (triggers can include rape, incest, graphic descriptions of abuse, direct portrayal of a mindset during such experiences) please place a trigger warning in the thread’s initial post, following the format Warning: (inset particular trigger). Gore has its accepted place in Arden, but extreme gore (as in an 18 film) must have some sort of warning.

6. There are three categories of threads in this Roleplay. There are Open threads, which any character that is in that area can join. Closed threads are invitation-only. Story threads are for a single character to post in, to develop their character.

7. Keep OOC posts in Roleplays to a minimum - if it is only one person you need to speak to, you can use the PM system. Separate OOC with IRC by use of parentheses.

8. If a player does not post, and no reason is heard from them for fourteen days, move on to the next character’s response. If no one posts for a month, the thread will be archived. Staff can be asked to take it out of the Archives if two or more players want to continue with it.

9. If your thread has more than four people, feel free to start a discussion thread. Discussion threads are placed in their own sub-forum and linked in the first post of the In-Character thread.

10. Maintain posting order. When you are not maintaining posting order, have the permission and understanding of other posters in the thread.

11. We are a paragraph to multi-paragraph roleplaying community. That is how you will be expected to post.

12. Real world diseases - both mental and physical - should be used sparingly. This is doubly true if you are referring to them in a way which could cause a reaction from other members of the community, and they should be handled with care and research.

13. Another member may give you permission to either kill or inflict grievous bodily harm on their character, but you must have their express permission. If you do kill their character (or inflict grievous bodily harm on them) without their permission, your post will be deleted, and you will be kicked from that particular thread.

14. Whilst more of a guideline than an actual rule, it is prudent to run a spellcheck of your post. You can do this in any word processor, and browsers will underline misspelt words.
