At Least 5% Sugar Posts: 20,597 Group: Queen Member #13 Joined: Oct 19, 2011 Nation in Balder Solorni	I was talking to a Sikh man yesterday, and he was telling me parables from Guru Nanak. Now, I do a bit about Sikhism from high school when I took a world religions class. I've always felt that Sikhism was a really cool religion because they tend to believe in universal values and that each religion leads to God. "He set up a unique spiritual, social, and political platform based on equality, fraternity love, goodness, and virtue." This Sikh man was talking to me about some of his parables and how in particular Guru Nanak believed that virtues must be displayed by leaders and he focused on them. He says this because it was his belief that you could make more of a difference this way. In the end, the Sikh man told me that he had not read the Bible, the Koran or the religious book of the Sikhs in it's entirety but it was his belief that it was goodness and humanity that led people to heaven. As well, that all religions are fundamentally the same thing but that corruption in humans is what keeps them apart and causes people to use religion as an excuse for violence. We also discussed the Crusades a bit. Anyway, the point is that while the concept of universal goodness and that all religions lead to the same things is not new, it is always refreshing to see.

If you go by the original use (a group of people who worship a deity) then yes, almost every religion is a cult.

Most of my personal experience w/ religion involved people building up barricades, dividing the world between the "righteous and unrighteous", which was really disillusioning to me.

Even amongst the Abrahamic religions, how much do people really know about Islam and Judaism? A lot of it is simply peoples thoughts are based on generalized notions.
