After many weeks of Irish people from the countryside complaining that the beloved GAA sports of Football and Hurling would be shown on an English tv channel, Sky Sports 3 kicked off the championship season with the Leinster Senior Hurling quarter-final between Kilkenny and Offaly with Kilkenny steamrolling a lackluster Offaly 5-32 to 1-18, or 47 points to 21 for those unfamiliar with the scoring system.
What followed from the new viewership across the Irish sea were some great tweets about this new sport of 'Hurling'.

Despite the seemingly positive, yet confused, reaction to the game it is still in doubt whether or not the new 3 year deal between Sky and the GAA will go beyond that due to the dropping of free to watch games from the Irish channel TV3 and the paywall to watch games on Sky Sports. Match selection will be key in order to try and expand the sports as showing more one sided fixtures may prove costly. Only time will tell if the GAA's risk will pay off.

It'd be great for it if it can get more of that advertising revenue.

Hurling is awesome.

I support Tipperary who I've seen play a few games at Semple Stadium, and they won the Finals in 2010.

It's sad that it's not as well supported as Football otherwise I might still be playing it. Not many local teams around, although I'm thankful I played when I was in primary school because we walked the school league that year. Due to the poor following in my province Connacht, out of the five counties only Galway is worth watching as the rest are terrible, so terrible in fact that Galway were moved to the Leinster province when competing for provincial titles(25/27 contested Connacht hurling finals were won by Galway with the last being 1999. They failed to only win the 1909 and 1913 finals).
Not much choice in Kilkenny though, they have no proper football team.
