Sigh, so with the U.S. stock market and energy prices tumbling as well as low inflation rates even in America where growth has been strong… are we heading for another recession or at least a slowdown? It’s also been noted that the U.S. dollar has been gaining because of the weakness of foreign markets currently. So unfortunately… does this mark the start of another recession? Personally I feel it is more of the rumoured market correction that some predicted would hit this year. But there are some troubling signs across the globe with countries like Brazil in an outright recession, other countries like China struggling and the Eurozone either not growing or growing barely at all. I think I read that growth in the Eurozone was predicted at 0.8% while inflation was predicted at 0.9% annually. As well, people don’t seem to think that the U.S. which is achieving high growth currently (although inflation remains low) can lead the world out of this in the current state of affairs. |

US stocks have been falling because of HFT overreactions to ebola, oil prices, and what's happening in Europe. Europe's economy is shit more often than not. 10%+ unemployment is not unusual in the major European countries over the past 30 years. Not worried about it. US stocks will hit a good investable bottom soon, and we'll continue adding 200K jobs per month.

Not really, for the moment. But, another recession could occur though like it did last time, as far as I can tell there have been few changes in financial regulations. While businesses are more cautious that doesn't mean they can't make bad decisions for short term profit margins. Edited by Rogernomics, Oct 19 2014, 03:53 PM.

Not sure if this info is relevant anymore, but China a few years back was undervaluing its currency. |

Once something is reported in the financial media it is usually too late to profit from it. Once it makes it into financial news sources, it's probably because the people in the know want to exit whatever position they are in, and want all the amateur investors to buy/sell their stocks. |
