1. How did you hear about the region? To be perfectly honest? This was just the region I was reborn into when I reactivated my old polity, Fmyeram. It seems amiable though - enough so that I was curious enough to register here. I'm not sure how active I'll end up being, but we'll see. 2. What is the name of your nation? In Balder, I run The Borderlands of Fmyeram. However, I have a new city state called The Republic of Alnasedi which I keep in The Pacific. Alnasedi is a lot more in line with my current political beliefs, I think. 3. What are your political beliefs? Are you Conservative, Liberal, do you care? Social libertarian, economic pragmatist. Governments aren't evil or unnatural, but neither are they absolutely required to do anything except follow the same rational basis for ethics as everyone else. I end up agreeing with liberals a lot more than conservatives. Foreign policy is complicated and my views would go too much into ethics to describe briefly. Maybe some point past the technological singularity we'll no longer have need for governments as we know it, and that'd be nice. If you mean politics in terms of NationStates, I have none. It's a game, so do such as you think would be fun and interesting that doesn't come at the expense of griefing others. 4. Are you interested in joining the regional army? Regional politics are weird. I abstain. 5. Are you interested in joining the Role-Play in the region? IRL, I'm currently in two Pathfinder campaigns, and I'll be running an AdEva campaign once one of those ends, so I'm about RP'd out. I'm distracted enough as it is. Of course, seriously RPing an entire nation isn't something I've ever done, unless you count Civ IV or Catan. 6. Would you like to be assigned a Mentor to help you around the forums and be someone to answer any questions you may have? Heh, reminds me of Erepublik. *glassy-eyed nostalgia* No, thank you. I can show myself around. 7. Talk about anything else from favourite music, age, beliefs, what Welp, I'm a philosophy major by day and a full-time internet by night. I like studying film, and I watch lots of anime. I write a lot. Not so much long form essays or even fiction - not as much as I used to, anyway - but I still seem to spend most of my day typing away towards some end or another. I play video games, though I'm not really sure what the criterion for "gamer" is anymore. Tabletop games and rpgs too. I sketch - I'm a decent artist - but I have been neglecting the methodological advancement of my skills for too long such that I am still only decent. I can appreciate pretty much any sort of music so long as it's interesting. Mostly I listen to metal, house, electronic, bebop, piano, and Romantic classical (that's as in Romanticism, not romance). I like a lot more than that of course. I guess if I have a musical pet peeve, it's orchestral arrangements that try too hard to evoke bombast when subtlety would do far better. Large orchestras evolved because composers wanted variety, not because they wanted, like, 72 violins to play the exact same part. Touhou music seems to make up an inordinate amount of my iTunes library. Anyway, 'sup? |

Heh, thanks. Yeah, eRepublik seems like one of those things that, if you're not flat-out committing to participating in politics and warfare at a high level, you might as well simply not play. There's no engagement in two-clicking. At one point I had a newspaper in eJapan (you can still find it, but I'm not saying what it's called - the sheer level of weaboo displayed there is too embarrassing), but since I didn't have my pulse on world affairs literally 24/7, there wasn't really much of a point to it. |

Good to see you on the forum! Welcome I've never gotten into any other political game asides from NS. Probably for the best really! If you fancy it please feel free to post any of your work, art, writing or whatever, here. They can probably either go in the University or possibly you could set up your own market stall

Welcome! I agree with your musical pet peeve, I listen to a strangely large amount of music involving an orchestra of some kind and it seriously rubs me up the wrong way when somebody tries upping the drama or power of a piece by adding more instruments. They're not improving it, they're just making it louder. |

Speaking of Orchestras I keep listening to the complete Lord of the Rings soundtrack recently. Great piece of music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfFQuhWaA_k |

Heh. I'm not sure you could say I was ever really into eRepublik. I was only there a little while before I realized that it required time and commitment I didn't want to give.
I'll do that, thanks. I'm pretty busy with actual school work right now, so perhaps later.
Yeah. I just don't really get it. I think the worst thing isn't when new pieces are being written like that - which happens all the time - but when people take something like this and turn it into this. But enough about me being curmudgeonly =P
Indeed, the soundtrack gave a lot of life to those films. I think it's definitely one of the reasons I love them so much. |
