I agree with all these negative reviews, I preordered Rome II myself and it's just horrible! I was quite hyped for an awesome adventure in the ancient world but technical, graphic and gameplay issues make it a very unpleasant experience. Turns took way too long to load until it becomes extremely boring, AI is really stupid (still performs suicidal actions), it's like all major factions are overrun by the small, buffer-like factions in a matter of some 10-20 turns. I can't even properly manage my own faction (it doesn't matter which I choose) properly because of completely messy UI, technical bugs and weird AI behavior (including enemy forces and my own.) Plus the city models for siege battles are like from some beta-version (Carthage looks a lot smaller than in the official video preview and Alexandria is a pathetic village compared to Rome), some buildings are already destroyed while the city is supposed to be in a clean state, some map screens doesn't even load.

Overall, I'm really disappointed. I tried to give this game a chance but I regret I wasted my money on this piece of crap.

Just play games from Paradox. Sure they're extremely complex but they're really cool.

Rome II is on my to buy list, not that I can't afford it, but I feel that total war games are turning into an scam.
just look at Empire, braging about coop camp, never arrived, and when it did it was only a Beta and then Napoleon came and all the probelms with Empire was left.
feel like they are just trying to milk us for money.

but in the end, I also fall back at Paradox, my all time favorit is Hears of Iron 2.

Thanks guys! :) I'll try it for sure because of Rome II's utter fail :P
I'll also play Medieval II with mods again, because it's quite decent.

Additionally, I'm waiting for GTA V and I hope it won't disappoint but this time I'm not going to be so overhyped.

I don't have EUIV but I do have Crusader Kings 2. Every time an emperor dies half my freakin' family declares war on me.

Because I pre-ordered IV I got CKII free with it. Not had time to actually play it yet though unfortunately.

CK2 is very good. I really like how its based on an individual character instead of state. I really think it captures the feudal system well.

What I mean is that I'm not playing as Sicily, I'm playing as the Emperor of Sicily and because of the way the game is designed even as an emperor you can't hold that many regions personally so you have to make vassals over most of your territory if you expand.

Rome the first time was bad enough, why would a second Roman Empire be any better?

The turns take an absolute age, which is pissing me off. But that's the only major complaint I have so far. Yeah, it's glitchy and they could improve some of the siege maps a little, but that's standard stuff for a game release, especially these days given how huge and complex games are.

Not that we should accept such standards, of course, but I don't see it improving. They'll patch it up, and if they fix a few of these in the coming weeks, I'll have a good time with it. Primarily it is just how long a time it takes to do a turn.

The major players being killed off thing is not major really, it happens all the time in Shogun 2. :P

After all, they're only 'major' according to our current version of history. Back then none of them were 'major', they were just another country which became major over time. Sure, they had certain things that made them major, but there was luck involved too, and if it wasn't for that they wouldn't have got anywhere.

In games like Total War, you're actively changing history by playing as virtually anyone other than Rome, and even then you're going to act differently from how they did in real life. You'll rewrite it somehow, so saying it's a flaw they got overrun is odd.

King of Sicily. There is no Emperor. :P

Also, Rome 2 is fine on my laptop. Already installed a mod that lets me play as anyone though. :P

The only problem I had with it was the default graphics were sooooo poor. Easily fixed by going into the options menu and changing stuff.

I installed a modification to make Sicily a de jure Empire of Sicily.

The turns take no longer than any other TW. In fact, I recently had my game of Empire, now in the year 2019, take 45 minutes. For the ten nations left besides me

It's called 'Kingdoms Abound'.

Basically it upgrades your primary title one step and makes all the counties that don't have that level of de jure polity that you control into that de jure polity.

EUIV is great. The changes they've made have all been good changes I think and they've not taken anything away from what made EUIII such a brilliant game.

Then I must consider it in the near future.
But first GTA V, Batman Arkham and of course, I need to finish Wargame airland battle. I know its not that kind lf game but me and a buddy are playing co-op and trying to defend scandinavia. And our tactics don't mix :p

I agree to a degree Ali, its been tough for me to get into in a way that was never the case before...I really think though that a patch will likely occur soon to fix most of the technical stuff and I'm still enjoying the battles more than I did in Shogun (I hated the castle setup in that game, defending was disgusting to do imo on the higher difficulties to the point where I would leave a city and rather fight on an open field). With the series I plan on still giving it a chance, but I'll likely not play much until I hear of a good patch.
