Forum Organization

Well, we have a forum! But I don't like the setup.

I was thinking something like this:

Welcome Center
-Introductions (Citizen app thread located within)
--Recruitment Office
-Link to "http://w11.zetaboards.com/Barrayar/register"
-Information Center (Important announcements pinned, basically the Info. Kiosk and "State of the Region" combined)
-Voting Booth (During voting times)

Barrayar
-Barrayar
--Game Room
--Shared Nation
-Roleplay
--(Whatever is needed, will be decided at a later date)
-Debating Hall (For IRL debate)
-Regional Reform (For political debate)

I'm fine with pretty much everything below that, though I'd like for the Ministries to be split up a little bit more. Really, I just got bored of writing this and now I'm distracted. :P

I thought what you had was fine, Keita. You didn't have to just take what Andro said. It's based on Westphalia, which is hardly a model for us in other ways. :P

And the current one is worse than I thought -- we have Barrayar in Barrayar in Barrayar. Argh. No. Please change?
I'd agree with this.

Okay...here's what we're going to do. We have an organisational genius here. Our Zdenka's a trained librarian, so she knows a thing or two about how to lay things out properly. Let's have her draw up how the forum should be. Personally, I have complete trust in her. :)

Sorry for being grouchy at y'all. I'm not actually trying to shut down the discussion. I do have Opinions, but I am also trying not to be a control freak. (Sometimes it takes an effort, but I do try. :) )

Okay, I've moved around a few things -- what do you all think now?

I would kind of like an "administrative office" for people to bring things to the admins' or founder's attention, or appeal admin decisions (according to a formal process which will be laid out at some point), or petition for redress of grievances if we start getting too high-handed. ;) But I'm not sure about adding another main section to the forums. Thoughts?

I am also terrible at coming up with good names and descriptions for things, so re-naming suggestions will be gratefully accepted. :P

All that should be necessary for that is either a thread or a subforum somewhere in... the Information Center? Sounds about right. :D

Though, I'd like for the "Suggestions and Improvements" subforum to be moved down into the main category, instead of being in the Welcome Center. Also, I still think we should have a link to the "Register" page. Face it, the button is small and kinda out-of-the-way, and some people can't find it. Also, I believe it is possible to make such a link only visible to guests, so that could work to keep it from annoying those already signed up.

Add a link. It looks like it should be a subforum, but it's a link. I forget what it's called but I think it has some kind of funny name.

I could do that if you made me an admin again. >_>

Can you make a forum called BNN (Barrayar News Network) in the IC part of the forum and a Subforums called Western Isles of Naybra? It was something we had in the TUL and it helped me get IC. Would it be possible? It be also nice to have a regional one for campaigning and other important announcements.

I'd probably put OOC regional announcements in the Info Centre.
