Historical Notes and Technical Data The CMS-01 Leo was first developed by the Celestial Empire for the express purpose of gaining leverage in their unification campaign. The base design originated from large-frame mobile workers that were used in space construction and repurposed for combat. The greatest advantage of the Leo is that it is simple, cheap and easy to pilot. Ease of mass production and low skill requirements made it fairly easy for the Celestial Army to equip entire battalions with Mobile Suits. Throughout the war, many Leos that were abandoned were recovered by opposing forces and were repaired to an operational condition. These 'junkyard Leos' became the primary hostile MS that first appeared late into the Unification wars. In response, Celestial forces outfitted their Leos with steel-working plasma welders as crude melee weapons - it would later evolve into the melee weapon known as the beam saber. After the conclusion of the unification wars, production lines stopped manufacturing new Leos, and instead the Celestial Military began upgrading and conducting operational life extension programmes to save cost. By CC-224, many of the Late-War model Leos were close to 130 years old. The military encountered problems with the aging Leos breaking down more often than actually getting shot down in the conflict, even though those that remained in service received continual upgrades to their avionics and general systems. With the passing of the Arete treaty, there was an urgent need to revive the Military, and the Leos were once again called up to the task. New Leos were manufactured while old ones were scrapped or handed over to provincial garrison militias. By CC-338 when the Tallaran conflict began, the Space Force bolstered a massive fleet of new Leos which was used to fend against the technologically superior Nexus Fleet. Throughout the Celestial-Nexus war, newly manufactured Leos piloted by rookie pilots were sent into battle with as little as a week's worth of training. As much as 400,000 new Leos were manufactured over the course of the war. Despite Celestial's attempts at pushing new mobile suits in, the Leos and their pilots bore the blunt of the war. It could be said that it was through pure attrition that the Leo's grinded the enemy down to secure a victory for the Celestials. After the war, and subsequent Reconstruction of the Celestial Military, New model Leos were built to replace those too old to be in fighting condition, while assimilating new technology from Nexus resulted in the Military moving beyond the Leo. By CC-400, Leos are mainly found in the hands of Nexus-majority Battalions, reserve units and provincial garrisons. Additionally, some regional pirates are also known to operate junkyard Leos retrieved from the massive battlefield wreckages from the past wars. The Leo is a very basic frame, coming with a pair of 12.5mm gatling cannons and a pair of beam sabers in a round buckler and features a line of standardized armaments. Ease of modification makes it common for higher ranking pilots to receive special modifications to their Leo, although the vast majority of pilots do not bother. After the War with Nexus, new model Leos (CC.360+) were equipped with new beam sabers to replace old plasma torches and were equipped with Beam Rifles to complement the standard 105mm Rifle. In CC-380, the Leo production line was expanded to include the Mobile Doll system, which allowed a superior unit to remote control multiple AI-controlled Leos. Even until CC-400, Leos would remain the only MS that the Celestial Military equipped Mobile Doll systems with, citing cost concerns. In C.C-390, Leos would be gradually stood down from service as Production lines of its successor, the CMS-10 Apollo. Edited by SPARTAN-104, Jul 24 2016, 01:52 PM.

![]() General Data Model Number: CMS-10 Code Name: Apollo Combat type: Mass production general purpose mobile suit Manufacturer: Chartered Industries of Celestial Affiliation: Celestial Empire Availability: Celestial affiliated organizations Roll out date: C.C-390 Technical Data Build Materials: titanium/ceramic composite Base Weight: 42.9 metric tons Max Weight: Unknown; estimated at 60 metric tons General Height: 19.0 meters Cockpit Type: Standard panoramic-linear cockpit; mounted into torso block Sensor type and Range: multifunction radar systems, effective range: 22,750m unassisted Power Plant: Ultracompact fusion reactor; gross power output unknown Weapon Data Special Features:

Optional Equipment for Mission Adaptor Hardpoint :
Historical Notes and Technical Data Manufactured by the Chartered Industries for the Celestial Military, the CMS-10 Apollo was intended to gradually replace the aging CMS-01 Leo as the Celestial Empire's new mainstay mobile suit. The CMS-10 is named after General Apollo Goodman, the fabled hero of the Cursus Basin. The Apollo is the first MS that was indigenously developed by Celestial through trial and error, incorporating advanced technologies acquired from the Nexus R&D groups. Designed from the onset to perform a wide variety of roles, the Apollo's most district upgrade is the Mission Adaptor Hardpoint which allows the MS to outfit different "Packs" for different roles. Additionally, propellant tanks, additional energy packs and other expendable equipment are mounted on the packs (and not on the MS itself), greatly decreasing the Apollo's turnaround time between sorties. Initially, the lack of spare parts (and striker packs) created massive logistical problems at first as its limited use meant very little spares and conversion parts could be acquired in timely fashion. To resolve this issue, nominally pilots are assigned standard Striker Packs according to their assigned roles in their squadrons. The Apollo is lighter than the Leo due to packing of spaced, reactive armour to increase protection and survivability of the MS. The Apollo can mount the "Aile" High-Mobility Subflight Booster, which also allows for atmospheric subflight, "Launcher" Long Range Pack which carries the powerful Agni 320mm high-impulse energy cannon, or the "Doppelhorn" Fire Support Pack which carries a pair of 210mm rifled high-velocity cannons. The Apollo is equipped with a more powerful fluid-pulse fusion reactor, and carries with it by default the Mk. VI Beam Carbine, which features a select-fire mechanism, allowing it to fire either the standard high-power shot, or a 3-burst fire of less potent shots. The Apollo also came with the M18 Recoilless Rifle, chambering a special 210mm 'Nemesis' rocket-grenade munitions. For long range support fire and squad designated marksmen, the Apollo can also equip the AG7 Precision Railgun, chambering special 105mm 'Turbo-Penetrator' rounds. The CMS-10 Apollo was officially rolled out on June 6th CC-390. The Apollo is now undergoing Engineering & Manufacturing Development Phase II (EMD-II), and Celestials are seeking to improve on the design for future development.
