Just wanted to throw some ideas out there for the mods and community to consider. I sort of just wanted to make things easier access and simpler. -- Imagine yourself a new player and entering our dream and seeing a buttload of dragons, furries, and alts that literally have nothing to do with the theme of X-Men or the dream. You're going to be a little confused on who to approach, and who is actually available for RP. You might even shy away because of this, I know I would. One has to suspect that it's not always easy to approach strangers for information. I get the idea that the OOC room is the place to relax, but it would be a little bit more convenient in the eyes of new players and players that just come for the sole purpose of roleplay and plot development to actually engage in such when the characters there ARE the ones actually being played. Not placeholders and not alts that have been hoarded. On the subject of 'pending' characters, it only seems fair to have them hang around in OOC chat while they are under their potential acceptance. TLDR; Canon/OC characters should only be in OOC room, not random dragon/furry/nothing to do with X-Men alts to stabilize who is who, along with availability. Pending characters can also take place in the chat if their players don't already have an alt there. Cut down on the bulk and excessive alts. |

I'm glad that someone sees it how I see it and how it effects the dream in a negative way, too. I understand most people find more alts in OOC to be 'attractive' to new members, but when they aren't related or have nothing to do with the actual dream, it really isn't. If it were me being new and all I saw was a clutter of random alts, not even for X-Men at all, it'd probably make me weary as all heck. As much as I hope the dream grows, I think this can be established by people who actually want to join, roleplay and interact. Not random people who are bored and just want a place to 'chillax' or sit their hoarded alts. It's pretty unsightly to see a clutter and I agree that OCs and CANONS for the dream should be the only ones sitting there. If they have a character already apped in the dream, then sure, they can bring other alts too. The clutter of people not joining makes things confusing, in my opinion. |

I too find this to be an issue, but the trouble is that many of the non-apped alts are friendly people and I don't necessarily want to punish them for wanting to stick around and chat (I have more to say about this at the bottom*). Therefore, I suggest we go old-school, like some of the very first dreams in Imaginarium, and require people who are members to place their Bayville profile in their description (something we already require) as well as a (Bayville) tag or something like that. Staff should not be using alts that are not related to the community in any way unless they are very clearly marked as Bayville Staff somewhere in their descriptions (even then I'm not a fan of it unless your alts are busy RPing somewhere else in the dream). * All of that aside, I am not in support of non-apped, non-continuity alts who AFK for hours on end in the dream and seldom talk to anyone or say anything at all. I hate to say it, but they are taking up space that an apped or active person could be using. For this, there is a simple answer -- an inactivity line of DS that will move people to a mute room where they can't speak (after an hour of inactivity or so). When they return from AFK, they can simply come back to the OOC room and resume chatting. |

Okay, I can totally put in an idle room! I think that is a great answer for this concern without punishing anyone who wants to chat and be friendly. I'll go ahead and work on it, but if there are any additions or objections go ahead and keep talking about it! |

I say I agree with all of this. Though I do tend to see people that come into the dream as prospective members, the thought of people AFKing in the OOC room or anywhere in the dream does get a bit annoying, and takes away from the experience we are trying to provide. Ruby, if you need assistance with that, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help with it. |
