Given Name: Aren “Belvedere” Craigstein Alias: Belvedere(primary), Aren(rare), AC (even rarer), Sandbag (don't do it), Jerk (by the ladies) Furcadia Alt: Belvedere Species: Homo Superior Gender: M Age: 23 Mutation: Belvedere's mutation alters his physical structure; upon command, his insides—muscle, organs, bones and all—turn to sand. This gives him his much hated nickname “sandbag” because when he is in this state that's what punching him—and him punching you--feels like. Belvedere converts his innards to living sand, leaving his skin intact. It's constantly moving inside of him, keeping the body in motion and conscious. The amount of sand in his body reflects his health when he turns back to normal. His average weight is 250 lbs, more or less. If he turns back with less sand, he can appear emaciated. He can't turn back to normal with less than 60 lbs of sand inside his skin. It also works in reverse, where he can bulk up with additional sand, increasing his strength, but this makes him slower and stretches his skin. If he turns back with a bit more sand than usual, he will appear excessively bulky and pretty off-putting. If he has more than 400lbs, he'll just be big and overweight. He can't turn back to normal after 500lbs, and his absolute max capacity is 1000lbs. When Belvedere is underweight or overweight, when he attempts to use his powers, he has to roll a 1d8 for the outcome: 1-2. Belvedere's powers don't work/stop working for the rest of the RP. If he's in sand form he reverts immediately and painfully. 3. Belvedere leaves his skin, and is a swarming body of sand looking for its shell. (Can't turn back to normal until in skin). 4. Becomes incredibly compacted and immobile 5. Belvedere's body ignores his commands and start trying to get him to normal weight by any means necessary. 6. Powers work as intended, but take all his focus/causes great strain. 7-8. Powers work as intended. Can manipulate sand within 25 foot radius of his body. He can gravitate sand toward him, and once it has been inside of his body, he can manipulate it at will. This ranges from forming tendrils to doing high-speed/pressure streams, or simply having it hover in a cloud around him. He can also compact, mold or loosen sand. Weaknesses: Sharp objects; Punctures, cuts, tears, you name it—all of them make sand leak out of Belvedere at an alarming rate. Unless he focuses his powers on containing or recycling the sand, he risks bleeding out completely. These injuries stay in his human form (as surface cuts/wounds), so he often has to stitch them closed until they heal. Mental/Psychic; Even while in sand form, he is still affected by mental powers and abilities. Water; Can't swim while his insides are sand, and the water makes his movements heavy and sluggish. Weight; If he tries to turn back (or is rendered unconscious) with too little/too much sand in him he'll die. Foreign Bodies; Foreign objects/materials in Belvedere's body remain so when he transforms back. EX: if a bullet is lodged in his body as sand, when he changes back the bullet will still be lodged in his body. A painful consequence to not expelling or grinding down such objects beforehand. Secondary Mutation: Using his sand Belvedere can wear rocks and other solid materials down into make-shift sand. This is a process of pulling moisture out of the object and grinding it with his sand, then taking it into his body. This ability can't be used on: living things, liquids, gasses, porridge and other things that wouldn't feasibly fall victim to a sander. Additionally, the larger/harder the object the more time this takes him to do. Physical Description: By default, Belvedere is tall, muscular, and a bit on the blocky side. He was a former football player at school, and it shows. Now, he's pretty thuggish, what with his piercings, tattoos, stitches and visible scars... His sandy-brown hair (no pun intended) is usually either sporting a prominent side-shave, or a faded faux-hawk. He actively works out and is a well-versed fighter. Particularly fond of both bomber and suit jackets, he's often seen wearing them, or settling for a red hoodie. Jeans and a pair of boots are his sort of thing, but occasionally he'll swap them out for a nice pair of dress shoes. He hates hats. Like. A lot. Don't wear hats around him. Generally, he has expensive tastes when it comes to clothes and accessories. Though, anyone that really knows Belvedere (or is particularly observant) can tell that he never buys them with his own money. Either he's muscled someone out of theirs or used their money to get what he wants. Generally he likes standing with his feet apart and a hand in his pocket. Personality: Jerk. No, really, he mostly is. Generally, if there's something that Belvedere wants, he'll go to get it regardless of circumstance or who it belongs to. He doesn't feel entitled to everything, he just feels that whatever you want out of life you have to go and get when the opportunity presents itself. This, naturally, makes him a bit of a scumbag when it comes to dating, because he'll hit on any and everyone that strikes his fancy, when they strike his fancy. If you want to piss him off, it's particularly easy; he hates not getting what he wants. Moreover, he hates being bossed around or told what to do. And if you happen to do both of those things at once... things don't usually end well. History: Belvedere, believe it or not, started off as a pretty decent kid. His family life wasn't perfect, but he was always happy. And though he was a bit of a clown at school and got less-than-perfect grades, he had a heart of gold. When it came to the playground, he did his best to defend other kids from bullies... One of the kids he protected didn't appear to appreciate Belvedere's help... Not long after being saved from some bullies, the kid was under attack again and Belvedere came to his rescue! Only to find that it was a trap set up so that all the bullies could jump Belvedere as punishment for all his interference. Upset, and sporting a black eye (among other things), Belvedere swore off protecting people, and instead put his focus on getting back each and every one of the kids that jumped him that day. It took a few tries... It took bulking up... It took letting his grades suffer... It took getting suspended multiple times... but one by one, Belvedere cornered each of them and beat the living tar out of them. By the time he was finally expelled, he had become a threat on the playground. It didn't take long for him to become the bully he was protecting other kids from. And so it was all the way into high school. His parents and counselors all suggested that he funnel his aggression into sports. And so he became a successful—and aggressive—football player at any school he stayed at long enough. Finally, he found himself at some high school on the outskirts of New York, and though he was ready to repeat the same he had at all the other schools, he found something very new at this one. Love. Almost right away he and another student started dating, and he found that for once he actually genuinely cared for a partner. Then she cheated on him. (shut up) Sooo yeah, that set him off. And he went on a rampage through the school. And in the same fit of anger discovered his powers.(What better practice is there to hone one's powers than to reek havoc on public property?) Then he never came back. An overreaction, yes. But Belvedere didn't seem to. It was the first step of himself taking his life into his own hands. He then turned to a rather blatant life of crime. Using his powers he took on a bunch of jobs, both legit and seedy. Needless to say he's made plenty of enemies, and most recently found himself hiding out in Bayville proper but still doing what he does best. Anything he wants. Possible Future: Weeeeellll, Belve's probably going to grow to be a monster really. He's probably not going to end up being a good guy, though that all depends on RP! Faction: Himself--err, neutral? Extra: - He's a hired thug and has lots of connections and enemies. - Pretty adept at breaking and entering. - The police has trouble keeping him in once place (gee I wonder why). I really like this! I think his power is described well, and I think his personality works super well with this mutation specifically. This is just so well thought out- but, of course, you have been working on it so long, I should expect that! xD You have my approval |
