Driver of the Crazy Train
Given Name: Roselyn Taylor
Alias: Cortex
Furcadia Alt: Roselyn Taylor
Species: Mutant
Gender: Female
Age: 17

Mutation: technological shapeshifter. Her hands and arms have the ability to change forms into various machine elements, from something as simple as a screwdriver to as complex as a working blowtorch. The tools are no more durable than their normal counterparts, though the actual form may vary as it is Roselyn herself that decides on how to shape them. She also still has to deal with the weight of the tool she creates, a large tool would put significant stress on her arm. She cannot create a tool she has no understanding of, so to add such tools to her inventory would require learning about them first.
Secondary Mutation: Roselyn can use her own body's stores of energy (fats, carbs, sugars etc) to produce small items or liquids, such as small screws, rivets, or solder. As these are drawn from her bodies reserves, over production can cause her to become dangerously underweight, fatigued, as well as other health concerns such as fainting from extremely low blood sugar levels.
Physical Description: Roselyn stands at a rather diminutive 5 foot 2 inches, with shoulder length dark green hair that she lets fall around as it likes. She has a fondness for black and pink, and tends to combine them a lot in her clothing. She's dark skinned and her 132lb frame is fairly curvy, with wide hips, a toned waist and a fairly generous bust. Her skin is smooth, but odd lines that connect to circles on her skin can be faintly seen, almost like scars. She regards the world with a normally bored looking expression, her pink eyes seeming dull
Personality: Reserved, withdrawn and quiet, unless talking about science.

History: Roselyn was a quiet girl, born with her unusual eye color, she was often teased and made fun of in school, but she seemed to not care. After realising that the teasing wasn't going to go away, nor was her body going to magically change her eye color, she decided to embrace it, adding the shade of pink to her wardrobe. As a young teenager she finally found something that could excite her. Oddly enough, it was starting science classes in school. Physics in particular really interested her, and she spent a lot of time thinking about what was currently possible, and what science could make possible. Her interest grew, and she soon discovered a natural talent for scientific research. Her science projects left her teachers stunned. She constructed a working miniature car that could stop before it collided with anything, by using a simplified version of echolocation. Her natural ability with science made her very popular in that class. At least, very popular for others to share projects with. With a submission deadline coming up and having been left to do the work all on her own as usual, she was stressed and frustrated. Trying to continue her project, she realised she was missing a screwdriver and her frustration peaked. As she was about to rage in frustration, her body reacted, glowing lines and circles began to appear on her body. One of the circles nearest her wrist glowed even brighter, and a second later, her hand had morphed into a very strange looking device, which had the screwdriver she needed poking out of the end. After a silent freak-out, several minutes of poking and prodding the appendage, and a slight feeling of panic of what to do if her arm was stuck like that, she shrugged it off and used the appendage to carry on working. As soon as she no longer needed the screwdriver, her wrist flashed again, and her hand morphed back to normal. She blinked, then noticed that where the glow was, she had faint discolouration of her skin, like scar tissue. After applying the idea of calmly examining the event, she noticed that her hand had turned into what she had wanted at the time, so perhaps now that whatever this strange ability was had awakened, she could do it again. Wanting a soldering iron this time, she focused on her hand and blinked as the strange markings glowed once again, and her arm had become a solder gun, complete with a supply of solder to use with it. Further experimentation showed her that she could create various things, but it had to be something that she herself understood the principle of. An attempt to create "an awesome death ray" failed, as she had no idea what would be needed for such a thing. She made the logical assumption that things that defied well proven laws of physics would be impossible as well. Though to her, that didn't mean as much was off limits as most people. She shut herself off more and more as she got older, her intellect rapidly developing and leading her to make her own "gadgets". Some of these inventions would probably require health warnings if marketed, assuming they weren't immediately made illegal, but Roselyn could care less, she made things because she wanted to see if she could. If it did what she intended it to do, it was a success, after that was irrelevant. When the mutant condition was exposed to the public, Roselyn was overjoyed. She had the first lead into figuring out what gave her her unique ability. She immediately headed to where she heard there were experts on the mutant condition, determined to seek out those who could help her unravel the mysteries of genetic mutation.

Possible Future: I have absolutely no clue. Being how she is anything could happen with her. In regards to her powers, it's possible she could manifest weapons in the future, as most firearms are a type of machine, but she has very little interest in doing so.

Faction: leaning towards Xaviers, but she herself could fit in with anyone, I imagine most factions would be happy to have her technological expertise.

Extra: I have only one thing to say. MAKE ALL THE DANGEROUS INVENTIONS!!!!

I think you have pretty good limitations on this character. Because of our time setting, just keep in mind the kinds of technology she would have access to. I already talked to you about if the tools are 'removable' or not, and since she can plausibly use her own energy to make tiny things like the soldering fluid, but anything larger would equate amputation, I think that is a very solid limitation. I'm gonna go ahead and say yes.

Very well balanced, very well thought out. I don't see any issues.
