Hey peeps: I always grew up being pushed around and thrown onto the ground and given two bits of a second glance to save my day. Everywhere I have gone from primary to high school, I have been a victim of unforeseen circumstance that had put me in the worst place at the worst time scenario. Unfortunately for me, I never really had much of anyone to stick for me, because of family issues where man is to stick up for myself, and instead, I have been hurt time, and yes, time again. As of recently, I suppose never before had I given much thought what would happen if I knew the right crowd, but it was all about to change. I know I've had enough of bullying, so why not make a change, right? I graduated from college in a couple years back for a degree in art, because it is my passion. So, from time to time, as a way of giving back to friends, family, or even the community, I tend to make designs for them as a volunteer designer. One day, I was sought out by a close friend to help her make stuff for a much worthy cause. After the passing of young Amanda Todd of British Columbia, Canada in 2012, I have been constantly vigilant over anti-discrimination and anti-bullying campaigns and hope to make some promotions to help them. One such place, aptly named "Be The Minority" is one such client I have grown especially fond of. They "stand up for the little guy", so to speak, and act out for all cosplayers of anime/comic book conventions all over. They believe strongly that cosplay is for everyone, and I agree completely. They will defend everyone, regardless of age, gender, sexuality preference, race, experience, heck, you name it!! Either way, I've been asked to make their (now current) logo and make random, on-call requests. It's a pretty neat concept with a big, up-to-current spoken topics. If you're a fan of costuming, and a bit of shouting out against bullying/discrimination, this is your lot. Go on, and speak up, send a few likes and show your support. I'll be honest by saying this, but I am even more ecstatic that this movement has taken the cosplay community by storm - we are more than a group of anonymous faces in the crowd; we are the minority, but by full force. I am indeed overwhelmed by the mass majority of you who chose to stop bullying and discrimination, and it makes me smile. I'll admit that cosplay at first was never really a thing I wanted to do; it was always for someone who looked the part or best suited in the knowledge of the character they portrayed. So, I was a bit discouraged from what was out there and had neglected my personal feelings in trusting others, but moreso in myself. I see now that a large voice is growing ever larger each day I visit this page, and I ponder, what if I did more than just sit on the couch making designs and art? I want to live the dream, everyone, and enjoy the stress-free moments that make my life grand! But seeing how large this product I have help make really makes me open up a tish more and I am fortunate to have met some of you. But I am not here to wish well unto those I just know and have met, I want to give my wishes of goodness to all of you, whoever and wherever you are. Know this, although it may be hard and difficult at these strange, over-critical times that you are loved, and whatever you do, keep at it. You are better than what you are crediting yourself to be and I want you to be the best at it. And know that everything changes for the better, because I'll tell you, things are worth it for the world. ![]() Edited by DCArtWorks, Mar 18 2014, 08:28 AM.
