Story for captains (to be done in the logs when each one is obtained):
1) Scorpion duels Quan Chi in the story mode, but it turns out Quan Chi has more power than he's letting on, and actually fends off Scorpion and releases Shinnok in a quicker and less life threatening manner. D'vorah also gets there a bit quicker. Quan Chi brings out the Scorpion within him once more, and rather than taking Johnny as a hostage like in the story mode, Shinnok just straight up kills him there and then. Kills Sonya for trying to stop him, to torment Johnny, and also to weaken the Special Forces.
2) Quan Chi, Scorpion, and Smoke attack Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei, knowing that they're some of the only ones that are still left

Part One: Scorpion Forevermore, Hanzo Is Dead

How could I have let this happen? The blame falls squarely upon my shoulders for giving Quan Chi the chance he needed to revive Shinnok. They had captured him, but blinded by my vengeance, I demanded them to let me take his head. If I had waited... if I had only waited... they could have captured D'vorah and taken the amulet, for she surely would have tried to reach Quan Chi. But as a result of my actions, a seemingly weakened Quan Chi was freed from his bonds, and ultimately, he proved victorious in our kombat. For it all had been a farce. He had wished to be captured and brought to Earthrrealm. And similarly, he had let himself appear weaker than he truly was. It was out of this deception he became victorious. After our fight ended with him being the victor, D'vorah appeared, giving him Shinnok's Amulet. With the amulet in his hands, he began to speak the spell that would release Shinnok from his prison... the deadly alliance of Quan Chi and Shinnok would once more be reunited... and it is all my fault. It is this wrath, this fury I feel towards myself, that has once more warped Hanzo Hasashi into the dreaded Scorpion...

Unbind him.

Scorpion, we can--

My name is Hanzo Hasashi! You killed my wife! My son! And then you burrowed your way into my head. Misdirected my vengeance. Cost me my one chance to have them restored!

Your family... I...

Aaragh! Quiet, sorcerer! Nothing can help you now.

The Special Forces, Shirai Ryu, and the inhabitants of the Refugee Kamp could only watch in horror as Quan Chi began to prove superior to Hanzo in kombat. The more and more Hanzo proved unable to finish off Quan Chi, the hotter the anger burned within him. His hands began to burn with the hellfire of Scorpion once more.

"GET OVER HERE!"

Hanzo's spear launched through the air, seeking Quan Chi. But with a smug smile, Quan Chi muttered some words of magic and a wall of green skulls emerged in front of him blocking the spear. A portal opened behind Quan Chi and from it, D'vorah appeared holding Shinnok's amulet in her hands. Sonya and the others saw this, and looked back at their Shirai Ryu captors.

"Free us, now!"

Seeing that Hanzo's plot for vengeance had backfired, the Shirai Ryu could do nothing but comply and release Johnny, Sonya, Kenshi. But it was then yet another portal opened, and out from it walked the revenants Smoke, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Kitana, Sindel, Nightwolf, Kabal, and Stryker. Johnny, Sonya, and Kenshi as well as the Shirai Ryu and Special Forces became trapped in kombat with these revenants as Hanzo released a torrent of hellfire at Quan Chi, hoping to burn through his wall of skulls. But Quan Chi already had the amulet, and was already preparing the spell to release Shinnok. When Hanzo had finally burned through Quan Chi's barrier, Shinnok had been freed and Quan Chi still lived. Hanzo had practically doomed all of existence and had even failed in killing the sorcerer who had brought on the deaths of his family and clan. Shinnok simply looked around all the ongoing commotion, showed a small smile towards Quan Chi, and raised his hand up in the air. Quan Chi did not have to ask why he did this. Yet Quan Chi still underwent a moment or two of hesitation before he tossed the Fallen Elder God the amulet that rightfully belonged to him. Even now, as Shinnok once more stood in Earthrrealm, his enemies were still embroiled in fighting with the Revenants. Using this moment as a chance to pour salt into Hanzo's wounds, Quan Chi once more used the greatest weapon he possessed against the sorts like Scorpion. He used his words.

"I must thank you, Scorpion. Or Hanzo, as you now prefer to be called. You are even a helpful pawn when you aren't under my control."

"I will see you burn, sorcerer!"

"The more angrier you get, the more control you give to Scorpion. Soon you will be my specter once more, and your identity as Hanzo will only be a forgotten memory. With Shinnok released and the amulet in my hands, my power is once more complete. Perhaps I will not even kill your Shirai Ryu myself this time. Perhaps I'll force you to do it yourself."

Quan Chi's hands glowed with power, and Hanzo began to scream in agony as Quan Chi once more began to take control of Hanzo's mind. As he did so, an awakened and released Shinnok turned his attention to more interesting prey. As Johnny Cage once more found himself fighting the undead Smoke who called himself Enenra, Shinnok summoned one of his skeletal hands grabbing him.

"No more surprises from you, Cage. I would rather bring you with me and torture you as I conquer your realm... but you are a walking unnecessary risk."

A spear of bone materialized in Shinnok's hands, and in the manner of seconds, he drove it through Johnny Cage's chest, killing him. Kenshi rushed towards Shinnok with the intention of cutting Shinnok down with the sword that housed the souls of his ancestors, Sento. But Shinnok simply avoided his swings and then inevitably ripped Sento from Kenshi's hands and then drove it into Kenshi's heart. Meanwhile, Quan Chi laughed malevolently as the being Hanzo Hasashi once more had his heart be consumed by hellfire. With Quan Chi's magic forcing him into an unquenchable bloodlust, the reawakened Scorpion began to tear the ranks of the Special Forces and the Shirai Ryu apart. Sonya delivered a kick to Sindel's face and finally saw Shinnok standing before the corpse of her ex-husband as well as Kenshi.

"Pathetic Earthrrealm. The only human to actually stop me, and he was a damned buffoon. His power did not save him this time."

Sonya's voice roared with rage, as she charged Shinnok.

"Damn you!"

But Sonya only met with a blast of power from the amulet, sending her flying. Shinnok summoned another skeletal hand, grabbed Sonya's head with it, and squeezed resulting in a sickeningly quick crushing sound. Meanwhile, the onslaught of Scorpion, Quan Chi, D'vorah, the Revenants, and the sight of Shinnok's executions caused the few surviving Special Forces and Shirai Ryu to flee along with the helpless refugees. Hanzo, while under the control of Quan Chi through magic, was currently shaking with fury. Hanzo knew deep down from that moment onward, he would be Scorpion forever. His attempt of trying to reclaim his old identity had been a futile one.

Shinnok looked at the amulet in his hand and simply laughed and laughed. This had been all too easy. If they were going to make it this simple, he was going to at least have some fun.

"Quan Chi, will you be able to turn these three into Revenants quickly?"

"Of course, Lord Shinnok."

"Good. For we are only just beginning." Shinnok walked off away from Quan Chi and Scorpion, looking at the corpses of the various Earthrrealm beings, Shirai Ryu and Special Forces alike.

Scorpion simply looked towards those of his clan he had killed, and crumbled to his knees. With such a deep hatred in his eyes, he looked up at Quan Chi. Then he looked towards the corpse of Kenshi, his friend, impaled with his own sword.

Call off your your men, Hanzo!

If you value our friendship, you will give me Quan Chi.

Hanzo, no! You've earned great trust for the Shirai-Ryu. Do not squander it murdering a withered sorcerer!

That withered sorcerer is the architect of my suffering.

Kenshi's death would be the first of many to be Hanzo's fault if Shinnok and Quan Chi weren't stopped now. But once again, he found himself practically as a dog upon a leash. Quan Chi's magic would prevent him from undoing his mistake as well as obtaining the vengeance he had desired so much, to the extent he caused Shinnok's release.

"Even when I finally have learned of the truth... of your involvement in the deaths of the Shirai Ryu and my family... you still manipulate me. You still use my desire for vengeance against me. Now, you've forced me to shed Shirai-Ryu blood myself... your magic may hold me in place underneath you today sorcerer, but one day you will grow careless. One day, I will break free from this curse you have once more placed upon my head... and the moment I am free once more, I will rip your heart from your very chest!"

"Your window of opportunity has been shut for good this time, Scorpion. I will make sure that you live to see us conquer not only Earthrrealm, but all the realms. Even the Heavens of the pathetic Elder Gods themselves. No one shall be spared. And once the realms are entirely under Shinnok's thumb, you can fondly remember the day your actions allowed Shinnok to be freed."

Whatever hope of Hanzo Hasashi remaining the dominant persona vanished, as the fury he felt not only towards himself for what he had done both out of his free will as well as the forced killing of fellow Shirai Ryu but the hopeless situation crashed down upon Hanzo. Quan Chi would allow him to remain aware of all that his actions had caused, but he would most certainly use the magic he had once more placed upon him to fight Quan Chi's battles for him. Numerous years had passed since he was last the lapdog of Quan Chi, and now it seemed as if in one single strike, those years had been rendered pointless and Scorpion had simply been put right back in the very same cage he had once escaped from.

Back to square one.
