Idea #1: Short story collection in which every story takes place in the same world, but at different times and places involving different characters and etc. Or rather, a novel in which each chapter is its own story, but all of the stories are connected here and there beyond the overall connection of it all being in the same world. ---Dark fantasy world. Perhaps a little "modern" stuff can be found in some places, perhaps mixed with magic/occult things. Like how in Berserk despite the setting being medieval/fantasy, Guts literally has a metal prosthetic arm which also functions as a literal portable cannon. ---The world is infested with horrific monsters/abomination/demonic beings. Some are sentient, others are mindless and only wish to kill. Could perhaps vary from you know, the run of the mill demons and shit to some HP Lovecraft/Berserk shit. Undead beings could also be a thing (I've really been getting into writing about them with my own novel thing). ---The world is constantly beset by wars. Wars between humans, wars between humans and the demons/monsters. ---All of the factions/countries are different/unique to each other. There could be a cult country that specializes in occult and magic shit, a really religious (I'm talking burn the heathens at the stakes) country, a country that's way more technologically advanced than the others but is super xenophobic towards the others, and like a Sons of Bowseresque/NMR nation. ---There could also be different races/species, but I don't have any ideas beyond humans and "monsters". ---There definitely also has to be like one large stretch of land/country that's basically just sort of a badlands where a mass of the monsters/abominations dwell/that's made up of land taken over from the other countries by the monsters. Could have post apocalypticesque stories where groups of explorers sent by whatever nation try and recover shit from ruins in the badlands or just in general explore it. The badlands would also be where the "Corrupted Knights" dwell/rule following their downfall/corruption. ---Of an order of Knights from one of the countries or perhaps the order is independent and basically acts as peacekeepers between all of the different countries while also battling the abomination scourge, a group of majorly famous Knights (perhaps there's one from each different country) goes on an expedition deep into the badlands, and never returns. This could perhaps be chronologically way before all of the other stories. Basically, after a chain of events, the Knights end up being forced to go off on their own. The entity that rules the badlands and basically all evil, mocks, torments, and taunts each and every one of the Knights as they further lose their way. Some of them begin to hallucinate horribly, and the entity especially likes to torment them by forcing them to relive whatever tragedies they experienced in their pasts. The entity changes and corrupts each knight in a different way, tempting their avarice, tempting them with the promise of power, or pushing them so far into the throes of madness that they cannot recover. ------Eventually, there's only one Knight left, who has somehow been capable of resisting all of the entity's temptations and tormentations. This Knight is perhaps the most powerful and also most honorable of the group. The surviving Knight actually somehow makes it to where the true form of the entity actually dwells, and is struck with absolute horror the moment he sees it. He is so effected that by the time he realizes the other Knights now who are corrupted monsters are behind him, it is too late. The "surviving" Knight is brutally killed by his corrupted comrades, and is cruelly resurrected by the entity to be the final Corrupted Knight, his form perhaps being the most horrific/mangled of all of them. He is the only Corrupted Knight that cannot speak but rather only scream due to how he was turned. However, because he was the most powerful knight, he is therefore also the strongest Corrupted Knight. Thus, rather than serve as a leader of the other monsters/abominations like the other Corrupted Knights are, the final Corrupted Knight is basically used as an "ace card" whenever the humans are actually successfully resisting them. ---There's actually a single entity behind the creation of the abominations/monsters hidden at the heart of the badlands, perhaps deep underground. Pending names: Source of Wickedness, Idol of Woe, ________. Most likely its true form is a gigantic HP Lovecraftesque sort of monster, but perhaps has a more portable form sort of like The Business Man or something it uses to communicate with others/watch others in the badlands. This being is also the one responsible for the creation of the "Corrupted Knights". ---The stories beyond the stuff about the origin of the Corrupted Knights could be pretty varied. And while I would like to keep some sort of chronology between all the different stories, some stories could be years apart from each other or just days apart and etc. There could be stories about things such as but not limited to: noteworthy battles between some of the different nations, badlands exploration stuff, stuff about going ons in whatever country, politics in the countries like maybe in one of the country's courts there's an assassin waiting to kill a key figure, the Corrupted Knights actually invading a country or something, etc. ---Somehow maybe make an overall story that somehow eventually leads to the defeat of the Corrupted Knights? Or maybe just keep it as a whole "short story collection in one world" type of deal? ---Hidden city of reformed monsters/abominations somewhere around the border of the badlands, simply wishing to live out in peace and away from both their creator and humanity. Probably have them getting wiped out/slaughtered by the Corrupted Knights and/or humanity. Edited by Atticus, May 25 2016, 02:20 PM.

ANY AND ALL NAMES ARE VERY MUCH PENDING NAMES Countries (I'm especially bad at names for things like countries so I didn't even try): Religious country Cult country that specializes in occult and magic shit Technologically advanced but xenophobic country Tribal/Sons of Bowseresque country Diplomatic bureaucrat/NMR country Knights of the Holy Star (pre corruption)/The Twisted Knights (post corruption): Knights of the Holy Star's Formation, Purpose, and Decline: In the past, all the different countries were more peaceful with each other, and tried to cooperate with each other in battling back the abomination scourge while also reclaiming and exploring the badlands. The Knights of the Holy Star were formed to be a joint group between all the different countries dedicated to that purpose. It was decided that the heads of the group would have a chosen representative from each country, but they all had to be skilled in either combat, leadership, or some other role that would benefit the group as a whole. It started off as a small and tiny group, but rapidly grew in size as the group continued to successfully expand into and reclaim parts of the badlands. However, when the head knights launch an expedition into the very heart of the Badlands and disappear, only to eventually reappear as the Twisted Knights, attacking their former comrades and all the countries, the countries turn on the group as rumors of the head knights giving into evil willingly reach their ears. The surviving remains of the Knights of the Holy Star go into hiding as they begin to decline, but they stubbornly cling to their existence, with their new purpose becoming defeating their former leaders, the Twisted Knights. The Twisted Knights' Formation and Purpose: The evil entity dwelling in the heart of the badlands decided to warp the heads of the Knights of the Holy Star when they foolishly went too far into the badlands to not only bring ruin to the group that had constantly been disrupting the badlands, but also to crush the countries' first major cooperative effort, eventually causing them to turn against each other once more. However, the Twisted Knights eventually become the most corrupt and powerful creations of the evil entity, becoming his generals excluding The Scarred One who he only uses for emergencies, since The Scarred One when released into battle will kill anything before it. The other Twisted Knights are capable of speech and have their own personalities (basically the worst aspects of them when they were human magnified). Maxwell ______/The Scarred One (religious country knight) Fulgrim ______/Fulgrim the Warped (occult/magic country knight) Yorick _______/Yorick the Devious (technologically advanced but xenophobic country knight) Rathos ______/Rathos the Bloodied (tribal/Sons of Bowseresque country knight) Gerald ______/Gerald the Deceiver (Diplomatic bureaucrat/NMR country knight) |
