MAKE EVERY SENTENCE OF THAT PARAGRAPH INTO A PARAGRAPH IN ITSELF, AKA, THE SHORT SYNOPSIS (WORD COUNT: 813): "The world was brought to ruin when an Angel named Abaddon fell from the sky. This Angel of Destruction changed the modern world into a place of perpetual suffering and death within hours, resurrecting all those he killed that day as undead. Many of the undead humans quickly went insane or deevolved into bloodthirsty monsters, but there were some who escaped this fate. Nathaniel Wessel was one such person, along with the murder of him and his family, his former friend, Caleb Sinclair. Fifty years has passed since the Day of Destruction, and Nathan still wanders the world wishing to claim his vengeance on Caleb who is now the host of the being responsible for the world's ruin, Abaddon.

On a dark and stormy night, Nathan happens to encounter a strange boy named Aghonior who has just killed the person he had been traveling with out of defense. At this point, Nathan has grown cold and withdrawn from all others due to the harsh and merciless treatment of undead beings by most living humans. Yet, somehow reminded of his dead younger brother and son, Nathan chooses to defend Aghonior from the approaching undead monsters. Nathan manages to kill them and while reluctant to do so, he decides to permit Aghonior to travel with him, especially when Aghonior reveals that there is something about him that makes others question his humanity. In truth, Nathan actually planned on taking Aghonior only as far to the next human community, but when they come to one, Nathan finds it destroyed at the hands of Samael the Faithful Crusader, the right hand of Abaddon and Caleb.

Samael taunts and insults Nathan, insisting that he would never kill his master, and leaves as a swarm of undead approach Nathan and Aghonior. An undead rushes towards Aghonior and Nathan briefly sees the memory of holding his son's corpse, and immediately takes the attack for Aghonior, screaming at him to run. Aghonoir does so successfully, but ends up having to hide ending up being cornered by an insane female undead who claims to be searching for her child. Nathan arrives, and without even a moment of hesitation, kills it, saving Aghonior. They make it to an intact human community in which Nathan tries to leave Aghonior claiming it's too dangerous to travel with Nathan, but Aghonior follows him when he remembers how Nathan actually protected him, the insane undead mother that had lost her humanity, and seeing the humans of the community throwing rocks at Nathan and insulting him.

Having been told by Samael that Caleb would be waiting in the "usual place", they journey to the ruins of the city of Brighton and enter the same cathedral Nathan and Caleb killed each other in fifty years ago. Sure enough, Caleb is waiting inside, and without even the slightest amount of hesitation, Nathan charges at Caleb in a murderous rage that somewhat frightens even Aghonior. Caleb has a conversation with Nathan as he's nonchalantly avoiding all of his attacks, and when Nathan makes it clear yet again that he'll never forgive Caleb for what he's done, Caleb simply sighs and overpowers Nathan and wounds him badly with his own weapon. With a smile on his face, Caleb leaves him in that state, and Aghonior notes when Caleb passes by him that it was as if Caleb didn't see him at all, as if his very presence was lower than that of an ant. Nathan tells Aghonior that his wounds will slowly mend on their own as long as he rests for a little while, and as this happens, Aghonior (due to his emerging Angel of Sorrow powers) unintentionally sees a lot of Nathan's past as Nathan sleeps and suffers nightmares of his past.

Having recovered, Nathan and Aghonior head to a community they've heard several rumors of it being home to a cult of both living and undead that worships and serves the Angel of Destruction. They are not entirely unfriendly towards Nathan and Aghonior, but are passive aggressively threatening, and it always seems as if someone's watching them out of the corner of their eye. The truth is that they are preparing a ritual in which they will offer Abaddon a new host. Nathan causes this to fail, earning him the rage of both Caleb and Abaddon as shown by their outright direct attempt at finally killing him once and for all. However, Aghonior gets in between them, saving Nathan but dying in the progress. Aghonior's death causes Nathan to truly go berserk, just as he had fifty years ago when Caleb first killed Nathan's son and wife. The death of Aghonior's human form and the sorrowful screams of Nathan which Aghonior could hear even from the World of the Dead triggers Aghonior's awakening as an angel, and Nathan willingly becomes his host to finally kill Caleb and consume Abaddon."

EXPANDING IT INTO A FULL SYNOPSIS (FOUR PAGES MINIMUM/EACH PARAGRAPH INTO A PAGE, WORD COUNT: 4,185 words):

FROM THE 1ST PARAGRAPH: "The modern world was brought to an end when one day, a winged man fell from the sky. This supernatural being was an Angel named Abaddon, who was exiled to the mortal world by his fellow Angels when he committed what was considered "taboo" by the other Angels. Lost in his rage, Abaddon flew into a rampage, leaving the world in ruin and many dead. When Abaddon finally calmed down and when it seemed as if the worst had passed, Abaddon resurrected the countless that had died that day as undead beings. With his exact reason for doing this unknown, countless people who had already died once awoke to soon realize that their hearts weren't beating. Many of these undead humans quickly ended up going insane and/or deevolving into bloodthirsty monsters, but there were a select few that managed to escape this fate. Two such people were Nathaniel Wessel and Caleb Sinclair, their fates seemingly intertwined even beyond death itself. Having killed each other briefly before Abaddon was exiled to the world, the two former friends quickly resume their fight despite their status as undead beings. Finding the two interesting, Abaddon decides to take control of one of them and use as his host. Abaddon ultimately picks Caleb, and with ease, overpowers Nathan and leaves him in the ruined church alone. Seething with hatred towards them both, Nathan forces himself to get up again. Fifty years has passed since the Day of Destruction, and Nathan still now wanders the world wishing to claim his vengeance on Caleb and to destroy Abaddon, who is responsible for the world's ruin."

FROM THE 2ND PARAGRAPH: "Fifty years and Nathan still has yet to successfully fulfill the only purpose he still has for remaining in this world. It seems like every time he is close to getting to Caleb, Caleb manages to quicken his pace. Nathan is only capable of following his tracks and his trail of destruction, and at this point, he has seen more than enough to cause him to grow cold and withdrawn, and not even flinch at the most grisly sights. Then, on a dark and stormy night, Nathan ends up encountering an odd scene. A life and death struggle between a strange boy and the person he had been traveling with. Nathan had long since given up on trying to be sociable towards living humans due to how they usually treat undead beings, but he is about to intervene as he doesn't want to see yet another child die before his eyes. However, to his surprise, the strange boy named Aghonior actually ended up winning the fight, only barely killing his attacker. Seeing that the boy wasn't helpless on his own, Nathan was about to move on until he heard the boy crying. Reluctantly, he briefly speaks to the boy and warns him that he should leave this place now, before vultures come for the body. Aghonior says that he's as good as dead if he's on his own, and everytime he travels with someone, it ends with him being abandoned or having to kill like this time. It is then when undead monsters show up, and perhaps reminded of his younger brother or son who had died so long ago, Nathan chooses to defend Aghonior. He kills them and reluctantly permits Aghonior to travel with him, especially when Aghonior reveals that not only is there something about him that makes others question his humanity, but the only person who has ever truly treated him with kindness was another undead being like Nathan. Nathan asks Aghonior if he knows of any human communities around, and Aghonior reveals that they were traveling to one such community before his traveling partner suddenly snapped and tried to kill him. Nathan actually plans on only taking Aghonior as far to that human community.

On the way, they end up briefly becoming lost in a forest. No matter which direction they head in, they end up coming to the same exact spot where a stranger is resting against one of the trees. The stranger says something different to them each time they end up back where he is. The more it happens, the more threatening/strange the words of the stranger becomes. The stranger repeatedly tells them that they should simply give up and that it's no use. Eventually, Nathan becomes fed up with it, and attempts to threaten the stranger in an attempt to force him to show them the correct way through the forest. The stranger then finally drops all pretense, and bluntly tells them: "A community of humans is no place for an undead man and a cursed child to be.". As Nathan currently had his mask on and the stranger had no way of knowing about Aghonior, Nathan demands to know who and what the stranger is. A demonic and impossibly wide smile appears on the stranger's face. "But Nathan, we've met countless times before. You, who have been chasing after the Angel of Destruction for fifty years... I know all about you. I must admit, I never thought I'd see you traveling with another. So, who are you using the kid to replace? Your dead brother or your dead son?" The stranger bursts out laughing, and Nathan strikes him only for his body to turn into dirt. A distant voice speaks: "You can go on your way now. But I wouldn't get your hopes up. That little human hideaway is naught but a memory and ashes now." Nathan and Aghonior once more quickly run through the forest, this time somehow managing to make it out. They find the human town, but it's ablaze at the hands of Samael the Faithful Crusader, the right hand of Abaddon and Caleb, and a swarm of undead monsters. Samael laughs, telling Nathan that he only just missed Caleb."

FROM THE 3RD PARAGRAPH: "Samael taunts and insults Nathan, insisting that he'll never kill his master, and leaves as the swarm of undead approach Nathan and Aghonior. An undead rushes from the side towards Aghonior and for a brief second, the image of his son's corpse flashes through Nathan's mind. Nathan immediately gets in between Aghonior and the undead, taking the attack for him, all while screaming at him to run. Aghonior does so successfully as Nathan continues to fight the undead, but ends up having to hide when another swarm of undead passes by where he had been running. However, an insane female undead who seems to think it's searching for her child finds and picks up Nathan. This undead is especially repulsive, and when it decides that Aghonior isn't the child she was looking for, she attempts to begin ripping him apart. However, Nathan arrives, and without even a moment of hesitation, kills it, saving Aghonior. Nathan and Aghonior manage to put the flaming ruins behind him with Nathan leaving a trail of dead undead behind them as they went.

Afterwards, they end up coming across a group of traveling humans. Still thinking about how if he hadn't been quick enough to jump in front of him Aghonior would have died, Nathan picks Aghonior up and carries him over and roughly tosses him towards the group. Before they have time to question this, Nathan reaches up and removes his mask, revealing to them that he's an undead. He puts his mask back on, and attempts to leave as the humans begin to throw rocks at him. The group is under the impression that Nathan was an undead forcing Aghonior to go with him, however, Aghonior realizes that Nathan is trying to get rid of Aghonior not out of cruelty, but because Nathan thinks it's more dangerous for Aghonior to be with him than alone or with other humans who will inevitably abandon him anyways. However, Aghonior remembers the insane female undead from earlier, and wonders to himself if Nathan will eventually become that if left completely alone traveling on his path built from the desire of revenge and pure fury. The memory of Nathan actually willingly protecting him and the sight of these humans throwing rocks at him enrages him, and Aghonior runs off, following Nathan.

Nathan is furious when Aghonior catches up to him, telling him that he should have stayed with the humans. Aghonior adamantly refuses, and insists that he'll go where Nathan is, dangerous or not. After fifty years of either being alone or being assaulted and treated as an outcast, Nathan is taken aback by this. He silently accepts that Aghonior's probably serious about following him no matter where he is. This foreshadows later when Aghonior literally follows Nathan into the World of the Dead to save him.

Later, when Aghonior is asleep, Nathan can't help but feel amazed that he has something, someone, he genuinely wishes to protect again. This thought is however disrupted, when he realizes something is smiling at him from the darkness surrounding the tiny campfire he had built for Aghonior. It ends up being the stranger again, and while Nathan has his weapon readied, he doesn't bother outright attacking because he knows that if he showed himself on his own, it'll probably end just like last time. The stranger mocks him, pointing out that before Aghonior tagged along, Nathan never needed to make stops like this. "How much more distance will gather between you and Caleb, I wonder? Before, you'd walk for several weeks straight. But here you sit idle, because of that child. Will you give up on your revenge? What ever will you tell your dear wife and son? You're letting their killer get further away from you. Before it's too late, you should get rid of the problem yourself. You could do it easy right now while he's sleeping. Just a quick and powerful turn of the neck and you can be on your way." Furious, Nathan attacks the stranger and the stranger's body once more turns into dirt, this time however, there are maggots squirming partially out of the dirt. The distant voice of the stranger: "As always, you have such a short fuse. Truth is, Caleb's actually been wanting to see you again. Perhaps you'll find him at the usual place... that familiar place of endings and beginnings." "

FROM THE 4TH PARAGRAPH: "Well aware that he has no reason to trust the stranger, Nathan still decides to travel to the ruins of the city of Brighton, where his journey first began over fifty years ago. Nathan and Aghonior enter the very same cathedral in which Nathan and Caleb killed each other fifty years ago. When Nathan finds that Caleb actually truly is there, Nathan charges at caleb in a murderous rage that somewhat frightens even Aghonior. Caleb has a conversation with Nathan as he's nonchalantly avoiding all of his attacks, and Caleb reveals he's been aware that Nathan has been chasing him all this time, and insists that it's a futile effort and that he should just let bygones be bygones. Nathan makes it clear yet again that he'll never forgive Caleb for what he's done, and Caleb simply sighs, overpowers Nathan, and wounds him badly with his own weapon. Caleb tells Nathan that he decided to meet with Nathan face to face one more time, as he briefly alludes that one way or another, his time in this world will soon reach its end. This is of course in reference to Caleb's wish to die and Abaddon's wish to replace Caleb as a host. With a smile on his face, Caleb leaves Nathan in that near death state, and Aghonior notes when Caleb passes by him that it was as if Caleb didn't even see him at all, as if his very presence was lower than that of an ant. Aghonior rushes to Nathan's side and asks him if he's going to be okay, but Nathan simply tells him that his wounds will slowly mend on their own as long as he rests for a little while.

During the few days they spend in the cathedral, waiting for Nathan's wounds to heal, while sleeping, Nathan begins to have nightmares reliving his past. As this happens, Aghonior (due to his emerging Angel of Sorrow powers) unintentionally ends up looking into Nathan's mind and witnesses Nathan's nightmares of his past. He witnesses the day Nathan's father kills his mother and buries his brother alive, and Nathan going insane and seeing faces form and start talking to him in the dirt when he digs up his brother and finds that he's already suffocated to death. He then witnesses some of the days Nathan spent in the insane asylum/mental hospital trying to recover from his trauma and befriending Caleb. He witnesses the day Nathan leaves the hospital, and the formation of his family. Then, of course, he witnesses the night Caleb who has escaped from the mental hospital murders Nathan's wife and son. Finally, he sees Nathan and Caleb's fight in the cathedral, and a very fragmented vision of Nathan's memory of briefly entering the World of the Dead, and then his awakening as an undead being, and Caleb becoming the host of Abaddon, the Angel of Destruction. Suddenly, the dream abruptly ends as in the real world, Nathan who has just suddenly woke up due to somehow feeling that someone was looking into his mind has Aghonior by the throat.

Having realized that it was Aghonior, Nathan lets Aghonior go. Nathan asks how much Aghonior saw, and Aghonior tells him he saw everything. Nathan wishes Aghonior hadn't seen any of it, and questions if he was always capable of looking into people's minds, to which Aghonior responds, that he's never actually done that before and it sort of just happened. Nathan ponders what this means. By this point, he already knows Aghonior is at least not entirely human due to his presence causing him to see visions of the past and such sights to begin with, but being able to see into someone's mind like that was a step further beyond."

FROM THE 5TH PARAGRAPH: "Now recovered, and once more traveling, Nathan and Aghonior come to a strange community of humans. They are not entirely unfriendly towards Nathan and Aghonior, but seem to have a passive threatening presence, and they repeatedly tell them that they should pass through the town quickly. It seems as if there's always someone watching them out of the corner of their eye. Soon, they find that the reason this community hasn't been destroyed by Abaddon or any swarm of monsters is that it's home to a cult worshipping Abaddon, the Angel of Destruction. Furthermore, they are currently preparing for a ritual, sacrificing one of their children to become the new host of Abaddon, effectively replacing Caleb. Nathan causes this to fail, earning the outright rage of Abaddon but not Caleb. Regardless, foiling Abaddon's plan causes Abaddon to rip control from Caleb to finally kill Nathaniel once and for all, against Caleb's wishes. However, Aghonior gets in between them, taking Abaddon's attack for Nathan, saving him, but dying in the progress.

Following Aghonior's supposed last words, Nathan is immediately overcome with sorrow and fury. The memories of holding his dead brother and dead son in his arms both flash through his mind. Memories of his time with Aghonior flash through his mind as well. He stands up and faces both Caleb/Abaddon and Samael in silence. His shadow behind him seems to take a life on its own, this being the cumulative remainders of all of the souls of the undead he had killed throughout his fifty year journey. It begins to cover him, dark voices whispering that they would "lend him the power he needs to obtain his vengeance" but "his soul would become theirs." Nathan's eyes become full of darkness, and what appear to be wings of pure darkness rip through and grow from his back. Abaddon remarks that Nathan's finally been pushed too far and lost control. Screaming in rage and sorrow, Nathan charges towards Abaddon with the intention of ripping his head off. Samael briefly leaps in front of him to try and defend his master, but Nathan quickly dispatches him, cutting his entire left arm off in the process. Nathan leaps out and attacks Caleb/Abaddon, beginning their final fight.

Somewhere far away, Aghonior's soul begins to descend into darkness. His memories are blurred and a mess as a result of dying. He seems to remember vaguely how he died, and actually even accepts it. "I protected him in the end... I'm okay with this. Huh... protected... who... again?" Aghonior seems to reach solid ground, and when he opens his eyes, he finds that he is standing before a large field of flowers, in the middle of which there is a hill with a large apple tree. In front of the tree stands a man, although for some reason, Aghonior can't make out exactly what he looks like, apart from having a small and somehow odd smile. Aghonior falls victim to an unexplainable strong urge to walk up to the figure and take his hand, but when he is about to take his hand, the figure retracts his, and shakes his head. He simply points up to the sky, and when Aghonior looks up at it, he suddenly hears the sorrowful screams of Nathan. Hearing the sorrowful screams of a berserk Nathan causes Aghonior's awakening as the Angel of Sorrow, his form growing wings, enabling him to fly up and out of the World of the Dead. The strange man simply watches as he goes, and waves goodbye with that same smile on his face that could be interpreted as saying "You'll be back here again sooner or later.".

Abaddon overpowers Nathan, and sends him to the ground. Abaddon moves in to finally kill Nathan, but Caleb attempts to get him to stop. Abaddon refuses to listen to Caleb, and tells him that he would have killed Nathan even if he hadn't lost control and went berserk. As Abaddon is in the process of killing Nathan is when Aghonior's soul returns from the World of the Dead. Sensing Aghonior's presence, Nathan snaps out of his berserk state long enough to have a very brief conversation with Aghonior, accepting to become the host of the Angel of Sorrow. The fight between Nathan and Abaddon renews, with Nathan far more equal to Abaddon than before.

Surely about to bleed to death if left without any assistance, Samael could only watch as Abaddon and Nathaniel fiercely tried to kill each other with zero recompense. The stranger reveals his presence to Samael, and reveals that Abaddon will surely be defeated, and offers Samael a deal of a lifetime. Samael will become the host of Abaddon's replacement. The stranger actually reveals that he is in fact a fragment of Abaddon that broke free when Abaddon originally entered this world and entered into an insane rage filled rampage. He claims that he has already decided upon his name once Abaddon dies: Baphomet.

Nathan successfully catches Abaddon sometime late into their fight, and forcefully rips both of his wings off. Bloodied, and perhaps knowing he had finally been beaten, Abaddon laughs. He tells Nathan that once he's gone, another will simply replace him. Nathan insists that if that happens, he will simply kill Abaddon's replacement as well. Nathan informs him that he plans to enter the World of Angels one day, for after all, it is the other Angels that are the original root of most of humanity's suffering and pain. Abaddon was simply the sprout that sprung from those roots. Abaddon smiles, and utters his final words: "I can see it now... thousands of Angels... dead at your feet. I wonder how many you'll have to kill... to stop feeling remorse when you look at your bloodied hands?" Abaddon's soul which has the appearance of a monstrous beast rips free from the husk that once was Caleb's body, and chained along to Abaddon's soul is Caleb's soul. Nathan quickly rips Caleb's soul free from Abaddon's before Abaddon's soul seems to fall apart, turning into a dustlike substance. Part of this seemed to be blown away in the wind, but the rest gradually covered Nathan, Nathan indirectly and unconsciously consuming part of Abaddon's remaining power and soul.

The other portion of Abaddon's remains are carried by the wind to where Samael and Baphomet remain. Baphomet eagerly consumes the remains of Abaddon, this changes him from a mere fragment of Abaddon into a full fledged Angel of Death. Baphomet takes on a far more terrifying appearance following this, and when he approaches Samael to make him his host, Samael unexpectedly speaks against this mostly out of pure terror: "I refuse! I refuse!". Baphomet simply wore a monstrous smile: "I don't recall asking for your permission." Baphomet catches Samael, and forcibly takes control of his body, two pure white wings sprouting from his back. He smiles and looks up at the sky. "I will return to that place... and I will see to it that Abaddon's mistake is undone. Even if it takes every single human soul that remains within this world... I will see to it that the Angels are restored. Through death, is salvation."

Caleb and Nathan have their final conversation. Caleb's soul is free from Abaddon's influence, but his mind and soul remains fractured. Even now, Caleb tries to fight free from Nathan, sure that Nathan would go as far as destroying Caleb's very soul. Instead, Nathan's eyes seem to pierce right through Caleb. Rather than destroying Caleb's soul, he simply looks at Caleb and tells him this: "I no longer harbor any ill will towards you anymore. After all, I am responsible for your death twice over. But... you won't be returning to the void like this." Nathan, tapping into Aghonior's Angel of Sorrow powers, causes Caleb's madness to finally subside, resulting in a very brief moment of clarity. Finally feeling the weight of all of his actions suddenly descend all at once onto his back, Caleb falls to his knees, utterly defeated. Caleb informs Nathan that Nathan had been his first and only friend, and Caleb had relapsed into madness the day Nathan suddenly was let out of the mental hospital. "That was when the monsters that would speak to me in the darkness returned... and eventually, I couldn't ignore them any more." Caleb thanks Nathan for freeing him from Abaddon and enabling him to have at least one moment of clarity in which he could finally apologize for all of the horrible things he had done to Nathan. Caleb apologizes for the first and final time, and his soul is pulled into the World of the Dead.

Aghonior appears in front of him. He appears in his human form, however, this form is not actually physical, and only Nathan can see it. However, this is usually how Nathan and Aghonior will converse with each other from now on. Aghonior asks if Nathan's alright, as he looks unwell. Nathan responds negatively, and collapses due to exhaustion as well as all of the wounds he had suffered against Abaddon.

Once more, Nathan returns to the World of the Dead. Rather than approaching the strange figure that is most likely the representation of Death, Nathan actually comments that he's actually been here multiple times. He ponders if he would currently be trapped here in this place, if it hadn't been for Abaddon's actions. Furthermore, he actually questions if the day in the cathedral was the true day he was destined to die, being unable to remember if he died from his wounds from the fight with Caleb or due to the sudden and unpredicted arrival of Abaddon. He openly asks the strange figure that if his current existence does go against fate, and if so, are there other things that could be contested, like if a soul already claimed by death could be retrieved and restored back to the world of the living. The strange figure suddenly loses his smile, and looks Nathan dead in the eye. "No mortal... shall ever triumph against me. One day, your time shall come." Aghonior descends down into the World of the Dead and retrieves Nathan's soul, and as Aghonior flies upwards, Nathan notices that the strange figure is still glaring at him from below.

The story ends with Nathan and Aghonior on the road once more. Aghonior brings up the fact that Nathan said he would happily die once he claimed his revenge upon Caleb and destroyed Abaddon. Nathan comments that at the time he said that, he wasn't exactly in great spirits. Additionally, there was a small fleck of hope still present of one day seeing his family returned to him, and outside of the World of the Dead. Regardless, as Aghonior lost his human body due to protecting Nathan, Nathan has no intentions of leaving without repaying that debt. He insists that he'll find a way to somehow grant Aghonior a new physical form. Finally, there were those worrying words from Abaddon about a supposed replacement. The story ends, as just like in the very beginning of the novel, it begins to rain."
