I’ve made a character… now what?!?

Congrats on taking that first big step! Creating a character can be challenging and difficult even in the best of times. So you now have you shiny new character, but now what? The land of Bewilderness is open, vast, and for a newcomer into the world, a scary place. So what does one do?

First off it’s a good idea to tell the story of how your character has entered Bewilderness and their reaction to this new land. There is a firelamp that glows purple that lures the wandering person out of the mist and into the neutral territory of Bewilderness. A glass sphere sitting atop a bent and twisted wood that has an ever-lit flame.

How fast does it take you to find the light then reach it? Do the twists and turns through the woods and meadow of perpetual twilight make you lost and dizzy or do you pinpoint the light right away and step with a sure foot?

When you reach the lamp what do you encounter? Are any of the Little Folk dancing around and greet you with eerie smiles? Are toadstools and flowers growing in the grass in a circle releasing a sweet smell? Or is there nothing but whisps of fog and mist swirling on the ground? Regardless of what greets you, upon closer inspection, is an old piece of parchment nailed to the center of the post with a simple inscription:

”----Harm yet none those who wander here
the Bewildered firelight that draws you near----

----For the land you see is surrounded in Fae
Of Faerie Queens who rule these Ways----

----Be careful, stranger, enter if you must
learn our ways but be wary of trust----

----Fae cannot lie, of that this is true
but instead speak circles up, down, and through----

Then above the paper an arrow now points North-West and you feel drawn to follow. Upon closer look a path that you might have sworn never once existed now weaves in the arrow’s direction. You might just stand there stupidly, or you might just start walking. Or you just might meet your first guide in Bewilderness…

Meet Quid - a male fae-fox creature who hails from beyond the Summerlands. If you ask nicely he just might say hello and answer any questions you might not know you had a moment before.

After walking the many miles or feet (as the path tends to be varied and sometimes frustrating when it feels the need to be) you can find yourself in a multitude of different areas. Most likely you will find yourself drawn to the sense-tingling Bazaar where goods, items, and food are sold by people and races you might never knew existed. Or you could be drawn to the quiet of the woods where you would find a calm and collected collection of treehouses above your very head. This move is up to you, but be warned. If the Citizens find you are a Hedgecrawler you might be given the cold shoulder. Better find someone who is in the same position as you. Can’t be too hard, right?

You can’t be the only one with newly aquired powers…. can you?
