"Eeeesh, this place is roasting...its no wonder they call this the fire village." Kieran exclaimed aloud as he brushed his brow of the sweat that had begun forming on his head. He then turned to his new kaijuta mount, who he named Kaska. "You've done well to turn that five day walk into a two day journey. Well done, Kaska." The large two-legged reptilian made a cooing sound as it rubbed its head against Kieran, who returned the affection. "Now then, lets find us a place to stay for a spell or two eh?" The kaijuta nodded in agreement, and with that the two began walking through the Fire Village.

Kieran noted that there was a lot of hustle and bustle throughout the town as people were setting up booths, signs, and stalls all around the village. People were cheery and in good spirits, and the word 'Fire Side Festival' continued to reach his ears. After some searching, the spellwarrior found a decent inn where he and Kaska could rest. While he wandered the complex, he noticed a young teen girl of about fifteen outside, swinging a practice sword with elegance and grace. Now that he thought on it, he had seen many people practicing weapon fighting too, and decided to feed his ravenous curiosity.

"You are quite skilled there. Though you need to watch your left side more, you leave it open to much in your stance." He said as he walked out side to the sparring ring. The girl broke her stance and looked at Kieran with a glare. "And why should I listen to you?" Kieran answered with a smile. "Cause its true. If you don't watch it, someone could break your guard. So tell me, does this have anything to do with this Fire Side Festival I've been hearin about?" The girl gritted her teeth a bit as she nodded. "Yeah, every year warriors gather all around and test their martial skills here in our village. The winner gets one of our prized magical weapons and..." It was then that she noticed both the blade and shield that he wore and her eyes went wide. "That weapon...and that shield...those look like last years prizes! But I never saw you...you stole them!" The girl took a defensive stance as she pointed her wooden weapon at the spell warrior. "I'll make you return them you..." Kieran put a hand in the air. "Oh shut up. If these were stolen, then the rest of the village would have jumped me by now, considering I wore them in plain view. Besides, they don't have any of the Fire Villages markings, considering I made them myself." The girl dropped her stance and looked apologetic. "Oh...sorry..." She then extended her hand. "Celisa Tadric." The spellwarrior shook her hand. "Kieran Kassel. Lets see what we can do about those skills of yours before this tournament..." With that said, taking a practice sword in hand, he began to spar.

Settan was inside a nearby inn, sitting down on a bed crosslegged. He was looking down at the white glove that was resting down on his leg. "*sigh* I wish I knew why I need this glove. I know that it increases my power when I take it off, so maybe for my safety he gave me this limiter." He sighed and put it back on, lying back, "For some reason, when I was a kid, I never liked lying in this position, but now it almost seems like second nature." He got up and walked out of the inn, carrying his staff horizantally across his shoulders. He had taken off his overcoat, so that only his slacks and shirt were being worn, along with his shoes and glove. "The Fire Side Festival is coming up. I wonder if I should enter."

The sound of wooden swords clashing against one another echoed through the lot as Kieran and Celisa clashed against one another. Kieran switched from his usual sword and shield style to the single, two handed blade style to fight against his opponent, and from the expression from his eyes and features, though he was fighting, he was enjoying himself, and he saw that Celisa was also enjoying the sparring match as the two clashed blades. They weren't going all out, but they were putting on a good performance as they fought with a grace not often seen in battle. Their sparring was almost like a dance as they exchanged blows. Finally there was a resounding crack as their blades met in the center, both of them smiling. They knew the ways of the warrior, and both now held respect for the other, allowing their blades to talk for them. Placing the tip of the sword on the ground, the two bowed to one another.

"You are quite skilled, Celisa." Kieran began. "You have a natural grace to your fighting, and your style is quite unique. I must admit, I'm not use to using a two handed weapon, but it was an enjoyable experiance."

The girl chuckled. "You arn't use to it? Coulda fooled me. You certainly know how to keep a good defense, and your attacks were well timed." She pointed into the inn. "My mother runs this place, so I'll get you a free drink and somethin to eat for such a good match."

Kieran gave a small bow as he smiled. "Sounds good to me."

Settan looked over as he heard the clashing of wood against wood, "Someone is practicine I guess. I might as well go over and see." Settan walked over and saw Keiran and Celisa practicing. He smiled as he saw the aquantance again, but the smile quickly disappeared. He did a rare act of fun and whistled to Keiran, "Wow, flirting already? You certainly are a smooth worker Keiran-san." He walked over to the two, looking at the swords, "Practicing for the festival?"

Kierans face turned red, and so did that of Celisa when they heard Settan, and the spellwarrior pointed at his acquaintance accusingly . "H...hey, stop trying to make me sound like a womanizer or something! I just noted that she was a good swordswoman...and the fact that she is very cute does make it a bonus...but still!" He then dropped his hand and smiled at the man. "But it is good to run into you again Settan. Always nice to see a familiar face after all."

Celisa looked between the two for a moment before piping up. "So you two know each other?"

Kieran nodded. "Aye, we met back up in the Earth Village about four days back, and beat down some bandits that were causin a ruckus. Anyways, I think I might just have to tag along for this festival. It seems like it would be a lot of fun, and theres no better way then getting to know a new group of people then to witness one of their holidays or some such, right? So what brings you here, Settan?"

ooc- I'm starting to imagine this world more and more animeish by the minute...xP. Sorry for taking so long to get back, RL has been hectic.

Settan nodded, "Well, the Fire Side Festival is soon, so I guess you're entering it?" Settan laughed a little at the redness of both Keiran and Celisa's faces. He placed his hands on top of his magical staff, which he was carrying over his shoulders and across his back.

ooc- Ahh, bloody 'ell! My post didn't make it here! Stupid flaky internet problems...and stupid flu...bleh....

Kieran placed the practice weapon over his shoulder as he looked into the sky. "Probably will. Seems like a lot of fun, and I still could use some practice; been out of the loop with the rest of the world for a tad, so this should help get me back into things a bit, though I can't say for certian what the Fire Side Festival is exactly."

Celes looked at the warrior with surprise in her eyes. "You've never heard of it?"

Kieran looked a little embarrassed as he looked at her with a guilty look. "Call me a bit naive, think you could fill me in?"

The girl gave a small sigh before composing herself. "Many generations ago a powerful sorcerer ruled over the land with an iron fist. He treated all of those not of loyalty no more then dogs that were to be played with. He was a harsh, and cruel sorcerer who bent the elements to his own design, and oppressed all of those in his kingdom. The fire village was the first to revolt against the dark sorcerer, a brave warrior woman named Selina Fireside led the revolt, eventually gaining the support of many other villages and factions to join in the battle. At the end of the war, she challenged the sorcerer in a one on one contest, and with both sword and magic, she was victorious and freed this country of the dark ruler, taking his staff as her trophey. To celebrate our freedom, the fire village holds a contest of warriors and magicians to prove the strongest, and the victor will claim a magical set of weapons or armor, depending on their own wants and desires. The Fire Side Festival is to commemorate our freedom, as well as allow all to see who is the strongest in both magic and swordplay in the land."

Kieran listened to the story with a certain fascination and awe, considering how close it sounded to a legend of his own people. Pushing the thought aside, he nodded at Celes. "And what a way to remember her heroic deeds. I have seen that many a warrior hails or has been trained from the fire village, and now I can see why. It would definitely be worth my time to stick around here for this. What do you think, Settan? Going to join the fun and celebration of good combat?"

"Maybe. I'm not one for close combat though." Settan remembered the story of the Fireside Festival's origin, since he was originally from Lysar Continent.

"Well, thats ok actually." Celes began. "The contest doesn't prohibit the use of spells, spirits, or other magical abilities. So long as you keep it nonleathal, everything goes. Anyways..." Celes walked up to the doorway and looked at the two. "I want to thank you for for giving me such a good match. I'm going to talk to my mother to see if she won't allow you and your friend to stay for the night for free. But you will have to pay for the meals, we can't give everything away now can we?" She gave Kieran a wink, which caused him to turn red. "Uh...thank you, much obliged." He said as he gave a bow. The girl giggled and ran off into the inn, leaving Kieran and Settan alone on the open field in the back. Kieran stepped near the building and leaned against the wall as he looked into the sky.

"I could get to like this place, ya know? Good atmosphere, plenty of opporunities to get some sparring in, and the people seem friendly enough." He then turned to Settan. "I didn't expect to bump into you again so soon. I'd like to wager that you are probably heading in the same direction I'm shooting for, but I can't be certain. Where are you bound to anyway?"

Settan nodded as Celes left, turning to keiran as he asked his question, "I'm bound for my former home of Mespita, which is now in ruins. Since I was gone from it when it collapsed from the sky, I'm heading there to pay my respects, as well as find out what took place that resulted in it's downfall." Normally, a person would be shocked or at least a little distraught from this kind of tragedy, especially if it was their home. But Settan's hard training ever since he was a child gave him the ability to numb his feelings on any subject, which was why he could speak so calm about it.

Kieran nodded. "I see...if one heard about their home being destroyed, anyone would want to find out what happened...wait, if I'm not mistaken, thats where the Dark King originally held power, isn't it?" Going over to his bag, he pulled out a map and looked over it carefully. "Hmm...it would be a bit out of my way, since it would be going beyond the harbor route, but I think I'd like to tag along with you, if you don't mind." He asked as he folded up the map. "Investigating the area might help me figure a few things out as well, especially about those who were able to bring him down. What do you say, would you like a traveling partner for a bit? I'm good with a sword, and you've seen some of my other abilties. I may not be able to teleport like you, but I can hold my own pace on the open road."

Before he could recieave an answer, Celes appeared in the doorway. "Well, it took a bit of convincing, but you two can stay for a little while if you like...of course, if you helped keep the place up and running a bit, helping with chores and what not, it would help...so what do you say?"

Kieran nodded at the young girl. "Thank you for assisting us. I think we would be more then happy to accept your offer." He then turned to Settan. "You don't have to answer right away, give yourself some time to think on my offer. Until that time, lets get settled in for a bit while we wait for the Fire Side Festival. Sound good?"

Settan nodded in agreement with Keiran's request, "I'll think about it. But it sounds good for now." He followed Keiran inside the door Celes opened, looking around the entrance, "Wow, this is a very nice place." The inside of the inn appeared to be made of a simple wooden design, with the reception desk being to the right of the doorway, with a coatrack on the left side. The stairs to the upper rooms were just a little more forward from the reception desk. There was a great amount of lighting, but not too much that it hurt the eyes. Summing it up, a nice little entrance hall.

Celes lead them up the main stair way to their room that had been chosen for them. The room itself held two large beds on either side of the room, with a decent sized table between the two that was easily in arms reach from the beds. A small room that held a shower and bath was on the opposite side of the room, with a single window that over looked the town, with the to-be arena being the focal point. The walls also held a few scenery pictures of various points around the fire villages natural area to make one feel more relaxed.

"I hope you like it." Celes began. "It's not quite as fancy as some other places in town, but..."

Kieran chuckled. "This will do just fine. It's been quite a while since I've been in a real bed." He said as he plopped over onto the nearest bed, dropping his travelers bag, his weapons, and other non-essential items off near the side as he gave out a satisfied sigh. "Quite nice indeed. A good place to rest for a bit, eh Settan?"

He then turned to Celes. "So whens the tournament anyway?"

"Actually it starts tomorrow afternoon, so I need to prepare myself for it. See you two later." The girl said as she walked out the room.

"Well, we still have some time to kill before its evenin'. Want to take a look around town once we unpack and what not?"

Settan nodded, looking around at the room before taking a seat in the wooden chair, "This is quite nice." He got up a little later to look at the different pictures of the Fire Village, seeing one of the hot steam baths with some people sitting on the edges while others were sitting with towels on their heads, and one person looking dizzy.

When Cenkic asked if he wanted to do anything after they unpacked, Settan shrugged, "Well, I don't really need to unpack, since all I have are the clothes on my back, my staff, and the money I have made. But walking around the town would be nice. I haven't been here for a long time now."
