I very rarely post my political opinions on facebook because I am just not in the mood for misinformed rantings en masse. I don't mind a good debate, but what I see on Facebook political pages is not debate...it is dumbasses in action. Propaganda that has either resurfaced or is made up by kookenballs is what many Facebookers call 'news'. This results in satire news pages being taken seriously as well as conspiracy theorists who, while they may have a point on certain things, will embellish as well to get their point across. It leads to a sea of misinformation which, in my opinion, irrigates an entire world sprinkled liberally with misinformed idiots.

I am not a fan of politicians as a general rule. I believe the moment the start throwing their hat in the ring..they start compromising. We as a country pay for that and we are judged by our acceptance of it. So we should speak up, but at least please get the facts straight. And lay off the hate speech on Obama..seriously. It's making us all look like asshats.

I do not blindly agree with some of the decisions Obama has made in office. Some I have a real issue with...but I also see him as the leader of our country and deserving of respect. He is not to blame for the country's issues and yet to read some of the Facebook political feedback makes me want to retch my coffee some mornings.

What bothers me the most is the hate. There are many who don't just want him out of office, they want the man to come to serious harm. They accuse him of 'treason' and yet call for his death? Last time I checked, making those kind of threats on a President constituted treason...I mean seriously, the logic simply doesn't exist with these people.

I truly despised having George W. Bush as a president. Every time he opened his mouth it simply was too dumb for words. Late night comedians had no job whatsoever...they simply replayed what he himself said. The horrible decisions he made as Commander in Chief--whether made from misinformation given to him or not--are still being felt today and will continue to affect us for some time to come. But I never once thought that harm should come to him. I felt he deserved to be treated with respect...and I respectfully disagreed with 95% of everything he did in office.

The hate I see towards President Obama is like nothing I have ever seen. To be fair, I have not been online for other presidencies. I was not in AOL chatrooms when Clinton was boinking the help or on Yahoo when George was bonking things up royally...I may have missed a lot of that, but I think it is fair to say that Obama has inspired an exaggerated sense of hatred in people.

The hate is so strong that anything...AN-Y-THING...posted about the man that is negative is jumped on like dogs fighting over a bone. They post and share immediately without checking...only to have to slink back into their shells when it is shown to be from a satire site or an outright hoax. My opinion is..we should feel compelled to speak our minds against what we feel is wrong (and this is whether I agree with your POV or not), but it should be done based in fact...not hate.

I shall step off my soapbox now...but I will be back...oh indeed...I will be back.

You know, I have also notice the sheer hate many people have for the President. I think most of the Republicans block his work out of spite, not because they truly disagree with him.

And even State Farm Insurance recognises that people will believe anything they read online anywhere without checking. Farcebook is no exception, but Farcebook has certainly given the idiots in this country a platform which to shout from.
