The Immortal Coulasour
|
Quincy ~~~~~~ Personal Information Name: Barrison Del'Armgo, Liriel Age: 542 Rank and Position: Vicereine Gender: Female Place of Birth: Munich, Germany Height: 5'9" (175.3 cm) Weight: 154 pounds (69.85 kgs) Eye Color: Turquoise Hair Color: White General Appearance: At first glance, this woman would not appear to be a warrior, even among those that know her well. Liriel is well above average height, something that she doesn't tend to enjoy. Given her height, she tends to stand out in a crowd. This is hardly helped at all by her relatively long and pristine white hair, which seems very out of place on the apparently young woman. Given that combination, Liriel draws a good deal of attention wherever she goes, but that is not the only reason. Her skin too is remarkable, as it is very pale, but not to the point where it would appear unhealthy. That paleness combined with the utter lack of imperfections has led to the amazement of many others, and has captured the attention of more than a few. That said, Liriel does take remarkably good care of her body even before she brings her remarkable abilities into the mix. At one point in her life, she could have said that her skin was perfect, but not anymore. Recent events have covered the majority of her body in large scars, burns, and tears, giving her the appearance of an abused victim of war. Although she does her best to keep the evidence of this covered, most often by wearing very long, tight fitting clothing, she has not always been able to succeed in that. In other aspects, Liriel's body is remarkably well formed, almost as if she were in fact formed by a goddess, or if she were born as one, as it were. Her very dense, but relatively small muscles do not have much obvious presence, giving her the appearance of weakness, but any physical interaction would prove otherwise. Her thin limbs and waist indicate grace and royalty, but beneath that surface lies a greater secret. As for her hips, they form a nearly perfect compliment to the rest of her body, a wonderful hourglass figure. Liriel's hair is rather well cared for, even to the point of obsession. Reaching past her shoulders to her middle back, the now white locks are meticulously cleaned and are a point of obvious pride for the old Quincy. Another note are her unusual and quite remarkable eyes; their shade is of a pale turquoise, bordering on cyan. Her eyes have a very typical shape, and aside from the color, seem a quite typical. When it comes to her wardrobe, Liriel is quite varied, but always has at least three things that are typical in her clothing. Those usually maintain that the clothing is form fitting, enough to show that her body is very well shaped and that the clothing itself is tailored and fit well enough to be flattering. Another commonality is that the chest and waist are usually tightly tailored, and the pant or skirt of whatever she chooses is often tailored so that it flows well. In the event that she wears a dress, it always passes her knee, but it does not necessarily end past her ankles. As far as color goes, Liriel much prefers light colors, but will often stay away from wearing anything red, black, or gold. As for common day to day use, Liriel often wears long sleeved blouses, often plainly stitched to her own preference or design, and favors long skirts and dresses on more formal occasions. However, underneath all of this lies a layer of essentially skintight armor that has been crafted from a mix of material that renders it very difficult to tear and very difficult to cut, at least where ordinary weapons are concerned. Truly this is not a manifestation of any of Liriel's abilities, nor does it create any true advantages for her, but the thin armor acts as a chain mail and Liriel often takes care to wear this when possible underneath her clothing. This is also why she tends to wear longer than expected shirts or long dresses, as she has several variations set up to protect her regardless of what she might be wearing. It is quite unlikely that Liriel ever goes anywhere without some measure of protection from attack, even if she doesn't need to worry a great deal about being threatened by the neighborhood thug in a bar. On the subject of jewelry, Liriel has few items that fit into this category, mostly consigned to modest earrings and necklaces, always tasteful and respective of her current garb. One thing she is never seen without is a rather peculiar small gem on a necklace, at least three centimeters long by a maximum of six millimeters in width. The gem is rough and uncut, and matches the color of Liriel's eyes perfectly. Body armor Personality: Liriel is in essence an enigma, the woman who has lived for nearly two hundred years has developed a very caring personality, almost to the point of being selfless. Her caring persona is omnipresent, one can nearly tell how empathetic her disposition is, she will not hesitate to throw herself into harms way to defend an innocent. Selfless is a very apt way to describe her, but loving is another apt way to describe her. Having lived for such a long time, she is acutely aware of how fragile life is, and how immeasurably valuable life is in all aspects. If one were to peg her as uncaring, or even apathetic, a simple glance would be enough to disprove them. Her very gaze is enough to show she will go to any length to defend those who she is familiar with, and even those she is not familiar with. Whomever could come to harm, Liriel has sworn an oath to see to their safety. Resolve. Liriel's most apparent characteristic, possibly one of the few that allowed her to survive for nearly two centuries is her absurd strength to survive, her absolutely irredeemable resolve that shows no sign of tarnishing no matter the circumstance or difficulty before her. In any situation, be it benevolent or filled with malice, Liriel will do one thing above all else. Persevere. The aged woman has learned that surrender is no option, least of all to one's own fears which can often be the most dangerous enemy. This has given her gaze a rather stern aspect, and while kind it its also presently obvious that she will do whatever it takes to succeed. Fear is beneath her, not because she does not feel the emotion, but because she has learned that she must fight through fear, her adamant determination often sees her through the situations that would take the hearts of lesser people. Even with this said though, she still feels fear acutely, but in a much different way than normal. Rather than quivering and shaking, she becomes much more incensed and easier to anger if she is even slightly afraid, the imputes of the emotion is often times a single simple thing. Bloodshed. At a young age afraid of blood, she overcame the phobia, but a distant consequence is that she will become much easier to influence if the woman is can see or smell blood, especially if it is her own. Anger is a tricky emotion to read on Liriel. Not by any means driven by blind fury, she has also focused her anger into two fashions, either blind sorrow or such seething fury that it cannot be expressed with any single curse that exists in any language, past or present. When her temper fades to the former, she becomes extremely empathetic, nearly to the point of becoming vulnerable. In this way, this aspect of her ire is seen most commonly witnessed in the form of a failed oath to protect, or a failed promise to a friend. Her fury is much more difficult to incite, but once it has been, she becomes so absolutely focused that not even the will of God can divert her. This is the aspect of her personality that is most important though. Liriel does not harbor the same expression of anger that would result in harboring a grudge, or the motivation for revenge. Vengeance, retribution, wrath, reparations, whatever the term used, if this is the end result, she will not follow the path it leads down. This is not to say she shall not pursue the cause and remove it, but the blinding hatred that is fostered by those objectives is so obviously absent from her psyche that she will not even strike down one that has taken a friend from her if there is another way. She will go far enough to shame her enemy, but not to begin a cycle of damning curses that will eventually lead to her own demise. Friends...true friendship with Liriel is extremely difficult to attain, and trust even more so, but for the so few that reach this coveted accolade, she will travel to the ends of the earth to help them, even if it leads to harm to herself in the process. Such faithful devotion nearly brands the woman a zealot, but this fire burns within her so strongly that not even the coldest night could extinguish it. No matter the betrayal, she will not turn her back on one she calls a friend, even to the point of assisting an enemy. ~~~~~~ Abilities Abilities: Solar Flare Taught to Liriel by her long-time friend, Liriel appreciated the value of the ability even after just a single observation. Since this is drawn on in the same manner as all Quincy abilities, this gives Liriel a very great degree of control on the location that the ability is cast from. Once the command is spoken, a bright flash of light will erupt from the designated area and temporarily blind the target for up to three posts if they observed it directly. Liriel's version, however, has a nasty aftereffect. It interferes with the ability to sense reiatsu in that area for several seconds as well as possibly interfering with some abilities. Clarity: Named many things, Energy Direction, Reiryoku Mastery, Spiriton Manipulation, the quincy's root technique has but one true name; Clarity. The technique is named after the state of mind and presence of spirit needed to fully tap its potential and is known by name to only a very few Quincy masters who still treat it in the manner that it was prescribed to be in. This ability refers to the Quincy nature that will allow them to manipulate spirit particles to do whatever the Quincy pleased. This art is what forms the basics of all Quincy abilities, and is inherently necessary for advancement with any Quincy skill. Clarity has many purposes, as its name would suggest. The most common ability is simply being able to form a bow without using an object as a medium. Forming the bow is one of the arts taught first to any Quincy child, but it is not unreasonable to believe that a Quincy would be able to create a different weapon with such an ability. Yet another use for this ability is as a method of healing injuries, much like the method for Healing Kidou. When used in that manner, the Quincy will literally reconstruct the cells that have been destroyed. Such an application of Clarity is exceedingly rare and difficult to master, but minor forms of it are present as well, such as simply numbing an area of the body against pain or clotting a wound. Ransoutengai Literally translated as the "Heavenly wild puppet suit," Ransoutengai is a high level technique that allows the user to control their body parts using strings of spirit energy controlled by their brain. By using this technique, they are able to control their body as one would a puppet. It was originally created to allow old Quincy to fight effectively, and is rare, master Quincy will be able to do this. Name: Angelic Woven Armor Suit What is it?: A masterful extension of Ransoutengai, Liriel activates the suit and extends it onto another person, allowing them to move either under her control if they are unconscious or too wounded to move properly or under their own if they can still fight. The Angelic Woven Armor Suit has been created for the single purpose to save lives and also to give a wounded ally or even an innocent bystander. This ability is simply remarkable in the fact how it can control an ally's body out of battle, and if they are willing. Requiring an incredible amount of knowledge in the technique of Ransoutengai for this to even be possible, this ability allows Liriel to take advantage of the technique she created for her grandfather and use it to help others. Activation Command: N/A. Name: Seele Verkörpern Sie (Soul Incarnate) What is it?: The pinnacle of Quincy power, this is not a technique for battle, or a technique for construction, but it is a technique for resurrection. This technique requires the user to coalesce the spirit particles in the area into a solid cocoon that will then fuse with the user's arms and legs, encasing their heart and allowing the solid conduit of reiatsu and spirit particles to transfer their spiritual essence into another body. The other person is resurrected, with their own spirit strengthened by the passage of two lifetimes. Whether they were dead or not, they would simply be resurrected as they were when their body was strongest, and the user's personality and their own will merge to become a new personality entirely. The memories of their own life are returned, and the dreams of the user are imparted upon the resurrected. Activation Command: Take this, my own, my life, my soul for another. I shall give up the world itself so that they may live. I will shelter the world for no grief shall befall them, give them my own soul and show them the path that is before the world! This shall be the only wish I shall see granted, that life can be spared. Special items: The Mantle What appears as a long, narrow band of cloth is actually quite deceiving. Liriel's Mantle only appears as a long piece of fabric, cut from a glimmering cloth that is iridescent in sunlight, but incandescent in moonlight. Usually worn tied around her hair, the meter long fabric was created from solidified strands of spiritual energy and it has but one purpose. The Mantle has but one purpose, which is simply to give Liriel's arrows the speed that one would not expect from a bow; the arrows gain a natural velocity of nigh on twenty meters per second. When Liriel fires her arrows, the Mantle innately affects it in several ways; first, it is immune to natural forces (meaning those not influenced by spiritual energy), such as wind or water, it will put a great deal of spin on the arrows, thus increasing their speed a great deal by negating the influence of air resistance. With the natural speed of her arrows increased to such an extent, Liriel gains the ability to fire her arrows from much greater ranges than one would expect. While only jokingly, Liriel has remarked her arrows can hit from a mile away, but there is a hint of truth to this. Her arrows will remain accurate up to two hundred and fifty meters distant from the origin. This by no means guarantees a hit at that range, but it makes it much more likely for her arrows to strike. Name: The Pillar Contrary to its name, this item is not at all what it would seem to be. Fashioned in the same fashion that she made her Mantle, the Pillar is a much different form of Quincy ingenuity. Developed entirely due to her newfound blindness, Liriel knew that relying on her remaining natural senses alone would not be anything close to sufficient for a Quincy of her rank and position. The Pillar does not amplify her sense of smell, hearing, taste or touch like one would expect, but it amplifies her sensitivity to the electromagnetic fields given off by all beings, living and spiritual. This amplification in essense gives her the ability to sense any and all nearby beings, objects and structures, in effect giving her a substitution for her eyes, and an amplification for her spiritual sense. The Pillar works by taking both the ability to sense reiatsu, the energy of a soul, and the energy of the body, in the form of electromagnetism, thus allowing her to use her highly honed Quincy senses to track the soul, and the Pillar grants her the ability to track physical energy via electromagnetic currents. Thus, Liriel gains the ability to see in a metaphysical sense, for she gains the ability to observe the soul of a being, living or dead, and its rough physical form, in addition to the glowing aura of the electromagnetic field. To her, this would give her the sensation of 'feeling' her surroundings on a much greater level, and allow her to react on par with her normal, Quincy reaction speeds. Malebolge The Malebolge is Liriel's personal blade, hand forged by herself and her own mother in the Barrison Del'Armgo forges, and while it is not a true zanpaktou, it can stand up to them without much question. In addition to this, Liriel allowed Hannone Kouga the opportunity to refine the blade, and thus it gained an appearance virtually identical to Anguirel. The blade itself is remarkably sharp, forged from an unknown metal that likely doesn't occur on Earth, but that is not the true purpose of the Malebolge. Being a Quincy weapon, Liriel created it not through the traditional means of making a Seele Schneider, but rather through Clairvoyance, thus she can destroy the weapon whenever she so desires, or summon it back to her grasp. Malebolge is a true homage to Quincy ingenuity and skill. Forged with the axiom that any archer would inevitably be drawn into close range combat, Kathryn saw fit to drill into Liriel from a young age that she was capable of using a blade with great proficiency, and so taught her daughter a great amount of swordplay from the new-found British colonies all the way to ancient Samurai traditions. This has given Liriel a unique perspective in weaponry, and thus the true genius of the weapon is in how it manifests. Appearing when summoned as just a hilt, the blade that extends can reach up to 1.5 meters in length, remaining incredibly light the entire time. Given the innate cutting edge of Malebolge, the blade becomes extremely dangerous when charged with reiatsu as two things happen simultaneously. It not only capable of gaining the same effect of a traditional schneider, but it can also begin to draw in heat from the surrounding area, be it spiritual, physical, or even biological. This gives the blade the remarkable ability to instantly cauterize wounds, but also the same edge that all Quincy weapons possess. Truly, it is an agent of destruction, and is capable of rending through almost any physical object, with the notable exceptions of soul synthesized armor or sekki sekki. Special Ability: Halo of the Angel-- The Halo is the affectionate nickname for the ability the essential Grandmaster of the Quincy arts has gained over the spirit particles. Literally spirit particle subjugation, Liriel can take the free spirtrons in the air and simply mass them, then with the most masterful display of the Quincy arts, draw them into filaments and begin to draw them into her body, re-energizing her cells as well as regenerating dead ones. Any wound she has suffered or can see on others would be a trivial concern, the wound would simply cease to exist, obliterating evidence that it had ever been inflicted. Special Techniques: Transplant – This ability is quite possibly one of the most important that Liriel might possess on its own due to the simple effect of what it can do. Given the nature of the Halo, this ability is not entirely unexpected, but the scope and actual measure of the simple ability is troubling to those who wish to traumatically injure Liriel or those within reach of her assistance. As the name of the ability would imply, this simple measure takes ahold of the cells injured by outside interference, allowing the main function of this ability to take effect. When Liriel wrests hold of the cells in her body or in another's body, she isolates the cells damaged by the injury, and from there, extends her reishi into the now quarantined tissue. Several options occur at this point, but depending on the location and size of the injury, not all of them may be immediately be useful, but due to the simplicity of this technique, even in intense combat, this is quite possible to execute. Choice determines what method of dealing with the wound is the most immediately beneficial, but the range that Transplant is privy to is hard to deny. By taking the isolated injured tissue, Liriel can move the injury itself, essentially replacing uninjured tissue with injured tissue, effectively moving any injury short of what is completely fatal (such as removal of heads and complete obliteration of bodies) wherever Liriel desires it, even onto her own body. When Transplant is in full effect through physical contact, the range of possibilities increases, allowing even catastrophically large injuries to be split up and moved to less vital areas, but the focus that this takes is marginally greater than dealing with smaller injuries, but all the same, given that the human body is inherently easy for Liriel to manipulate. Whenever it is injured in a fashion that does not completely destroy the body, Liriel can relocate the injuries to make triage easier. Splint – As much as one would not expect a living, uncorrupted soul to posses the ability to regenerate from any wound, Liriel has fostered this ability over centuries and it has taken on an extreme level of efficiency. Having been through combat many, many times, Liriel has seen the extent of injury, illness, and general malase on just about every scale; anything from huge battles to small, impersonal crimes. Regardless of the cause of the trauma, Liriel understands how to treat it and can appropriately determine the best way to diagnose, treat, and set about healing all but the most fatal wounds. On her own body, this ability seems like it reached its peak, the incredibly experienced healer grew to know her entire body over a tremendous amount of time, down to the cellular level in almost every conceivable area possible. When wounded, Liriel need only focus and apply energy from the spiritual particles nearby to instantly stop blood, all the way to closing major injuries while engaged in active combat. Although she has her limits with what she can do in combat, any wound that does not immediately render her unconscious can be adapted to and stinted to the point that she can continue combat. Despite the stints for internal injuries being fragile, they often prove sturdy enough for her to finish the fight with enough focus to heal the wound at her earliest convenience. Outside of combat is where this ability truly shines. Applicable both on herself and others, the Halo affords Liriel the ability to not only extend her healing ability to essentially all wounds; but with the time and opportunity to carefully explore the process, she can heal any injury that did not immediately result in death, including seperation of limbs from the body. Transplant – This ability is quite possibly one of the most important that Liriel might possess on its own due to the simple effect of what it can do. Nerve Interaction – One of the greatest advantages and most necessary tools for a healer is the ability to apply anesthetic in order to relieve pain so that it becomes easier for the patient and the physician can treat serious and non-serious injuries. To any physician that needs to treat someone with any degree of injury, there needs to be a small degree of anesthesia. This ability is what grants Liriel a proxy for that essential medical supplement. By extending a tiny amount of energy and properly considering the possible impact to nerves if applied incorrectly, Liriel can begin to work with great care. Transferring the energy into the nerves, Liriel can quickly numb the nerves in order for her to work on her patient. While incredibly useful, this ability is very tricky to use correctly as it requires a huge amount of focus and knowledge of the human body. Liriel's incredibly large amount of experience in treating all manner of injury for a tremendous amount of time. That immense experience allows Liriel to understand the nerves that she can manage to isolate individual nerve fibers and even heal them if they are damaged. Healing and numbing nerves takes a good deal of time, several minutes of preparation at least are required in order to prevent damage to the nerves. While Liriel has the skill required to interact with her patient's nerves quickly, it is very rarely a good idea since it almost always requires the nerves be in quality condition and the patient relatively healthy. Malase Migration – In the training with the Halo as fervently as she has, Liriel has the immediate and obvious ability to heal her body in just about any reasonable way. This gives her the ability to heal any wound that she receives, and that in itself is remarkable, but the ability to heal others is likewise remarkable for very much the same reason. Liriel's Halo grants her the ability akin to what one would expect at minimum from the power of the Fourth Division Captain. This in turn places a great deal of consternation on the wizened old Quincy woman, for it gives her the knowledge of knowing that the healing her Halo provides is much greater on her own body than on those that she wishes to heal with her other abilities. Liriel always found this rather frustrating, for many in her care have died of the fact that would have been saved by the quality of the healing the Halo provides her own body. Given her proficiency with abilities that aide the body, especially the Heavenly Wild Puppet Suit, Liriel set to work to find a way to remedy the situation that was presented to her by that simple issue. Most of the ideas were terribly ineffective, but one found success. By drawing on both of the abilities that she was extremely competent in using in any situation, Liriel found that she could combine the Heavenly Wild Puppet Suit's extension, the Angelic Woven Armor suit to isolate a wound on the body of a patient, especially if that would was very large. With the wound isolated, Liriel connects the strands of the Woven Armor Suit to her own body in the same place that the wound was incurred on her patient and then transfers the wound through the fibers of the suit onto her own body, opening an identical wound while closing the wound on their body. Now able to use her much superior ability to heal the injury on her own body, Liriel can treat catastrophic injuries that would otherwise be fatal for her patients. To that point, Liriel is capable of doing this to both wounds and actual diseases. Malase Eradication – This ability is incredibly simple, but incredibly powerful, if a bit situational. By extending her power into another being, be they spiritual or physical, Liriel can diagnose any disease that she is capable of treating, and determine if the disease is bothersome enough to interfere with their own body to the point where it cannot be cured on its own. Exploiting many of the same features of the ability to transfer physical wounds to her own body, Liriel may take any disease from a patient and transfer it into her own body. Whether it is anything as simple as the common cold, or as ravaging as cancer, Liriel may in fact take that disease and allow her Halo to completely overwhelm it. Her body's immune response is so strong that Liriel can defeat even horrible diseases such as the Ebola hemorrhagic fever. Muscle Restitution – One thing that is often overlooked during medical treatment is the condition of the muscles of the patient. This is often a very difficult and a very cosmetic ability, but Liriel has found a way to make it very useful for one of a medical persuasion. Almost all people wish for greater muscle tone, or even more often, more visibility of musculature, but Liriel has found a very inventive use for this ability. In most people, larger muscles typically denote greater strength, but if one were to glance at Liriel, her almost average appearance, her hardly displayed muscles would typically make one believe that she was not all that strong. That belief would be quite wrong, as Liriel's relatively thin and subtle muscles retain surprising strength. ~~~~~~ Die Ewigkeit Hauptsache Hauptsache Information Hauptsache Name: Gjallar Sealed Appearance: Consistently observed as a gem, Liriel has worn this ever since she was very little, and while it appears to be nothing more than sentiment, the necklace and gem itself hold within them the essence of Liriel's bow. While Liriel has been able to draw on a 'sealed' form of Gjallar for nearly her whole life, she has now gained the understanding that the bow itself lacks any offensive ability outside of the Aufstieg aside from the traditional expectation of a Quincy, to be able to gather and fire spiritrons with the dormant form of the bow. Spirit Appearance: X Spirit Personality: Idril is an enigma to even Liriel, but that enigma is very similar to the woman she belongs to in a large majority of ways. Firstly, Idril is very cheerful, often always a smile can be seen on her face or she is heard or seen playing the violin that she so dearly loves. That cheer often extends out towards others and those who are fortunate enough to meet Idril will soon learn that her cheer is extremely contagious. Suffice it to say she is a lover of music and all that entails. Aufstieg Release Prompt: Begotten by the fate of the world, beholden to echoes of the Gjallarhorn. Aufstieg Appearance: Gjallarhorn's combative form is true Quincy destructive power, and due to Liriel's advanced age and tremendous skill with the weapon, her experience has given her the edge that any Quincy would need against even the strongest opponents. The combative form of her Hauptsache, called 'Gjallarhorn' by the spirit Idril, Anglachel has a singular purpose. To break and to destroy. To that end, its abilities are very much balanced in this form. Gjallarhorn is meant to destroy, and therefore all defenses are negated. When this form is taken, the normally clear crystal of the bow is turned a crimson red, and the green accents turn a dark blue. Liriel herself gains a layer of scale-like armor which has several sharp projections much akin to spikes along the joints, but they have a very nasty quality. A small gap exists in each of those spikes to create the same effect of a Seele Schneider. Aufstieg Abilities: Gungnir Launching any normal arrow is a task that even the greenest rookie Quincy can accomplish, but the true power behind it is reserved for the Dukes, Duchesses and the Paladin to discover. The ability named 'Gungnir' is one that Liriel discovered in conjunction with her spirit, Idril, and the Quincy Paladin knows exactly how much power the bow can have. Gungnir was named by Idril after the spear wielded by the great Norse God Odin, this ability easily transcends very near every recorded Quincy ability, including the power of the Final Form that Joshua unveiled, Appearing as a dual-bladed knife with a golden hue embossed with red and silver, Gungnir shares a similar quality with all of her other arrows. While in Aufstieg, all her arrows appear to have the hilt of a Schneider, and with that, the peculiar hollow handle that most schneider share. Truly breathtaking, the ability of Gungnir draws its power not from massive amounts of spiritual particles, but from the sheer force of impact due to the sublime velocity that the arrow is fired with. Easily surpassing any Knight's, and likewise many duke's hirenkyaku, this can even match or outpace Captain class opponents who are not careful of their steps. These arrows most often strike a target before they realize that it has been loosed. Easily enough to match a lesser foe's movement, Gungnir can be fired pre-emptively as a manner to intercept particularly fast targets. Regarded by Liriel as the fastest single technique she has ever witnessed, few would dispute that claim. Mjolnir Mjolnir is the arrow that is nightmarish among nightmarish for those that believe that arrows will have no bite or force when fired from the apparently delicate old Quincy's bow. While it is a fair assumption to believe that arrows do not contain a great amount of power, it would be fatal to make that mistake here. Any arrow, indeed, any strike that originates from the bow that Liriel holds while in her resplendent Aufstieg grants her the power of the great hammer of Mjolnir, as wielded by the divine force that gave it fame. Mjolnir is a passive ability that innately affects all of the arrows within Liriel's purvue in this state, which allows all of the arrows to strike with the power of what would be expected, until urged otherwise. Any strike from Mjolnir that brings out the true power of the technique will be capable of striking the target with force that is purely dictated by Liriel's strategic mind. This allows her to alter the impact force without any external sign; simply seeing the arrow in question is enough for the archer. Naglfar While Gungnir is meant purely to pierce, destroy or otherwise annihilate an opponent, Naglfar is quite the opposite. In fact, it could be easily said that Naglfar is the bread and butter of Gjallarhorn's release, and it is just so because it can apply to any of the normal arrows fired from Liriel's bow in this form. While Gungnir and the others create a most destructive quality while screaming through the air, Naglfar does just the opposite. It removes negative qualities by simply traveling through the air, thus it becomes immune to the offenses and abilities of others by simply existing. However, by existing in such a state, it cannot be affected by the abilities of other Quincy, it merely affects Liriel's natural abilities. This creates a most troubling ability for those who seek to compromise Liriel. Tyrfing This ability is one of the only other active abilities that Liriel has access to while within the influence of her Aufstieg. Tyrfing takes after one of the epic blades of Norse mythos, the blade made by the dwarves that could cut and wound its own owner. While Liriel has learned to not be harmed by Tyrfing directly, it is still extraordinarily difficult to manage the entire scope of the ability. Giving the wielder what seem like two drastically different abilities during battle. When struck by the arrow called Tyrfing, this slightly unorthodox arrow will cut the skin of the target, but it will not pierce the flesh. Instead, Tyrfing will set about and activate the true ability, which only those struck can distinguish. When struck, the skin of the afflicted takes on a most puzzling quality; smooth skin becomes rough, and rough skin becomes very quickly abrasive. This abrasive skin does not seek to damage armor, or anything of the like, but instead, the muscles under it. Working on the lowest layers of the skin itself instead of trying to attack continuously, Tyrfing becomes an agent that the enemy owns, instead of a weapon that Liriel needs to continuously possess. The effects of this arrow, while destructive to the body of the one it is used upon have no distinctive stacking effect; when one is hit by Tyrfing, the effect is constant until one of two conditions are met. The first condition is that Liriel seals the aufstieg, which is easily the clearest indication that hostilities have ceased, or the second condition is met when the 'owner' of this ability's effect surrenders to Liriel unequivocally. History Coming soon™ ~~~~~~ Other Any other notes you would like to add. |

January 8, 1480, Bridgette, Today, we will depart to the forest for three weeks. I will begin my training as a Quincy over the next twenty one days. Sebina seemed to be in charge, but I knew that Amos was a little better at using his skills, as he took obvious charge in leading us out into the forest. I hadn't known about the excursion until Sebina arrived at my door this morning to inform me, but I knew that Mother had grown tired of my insistence that I learn the Quincy arts. I know father can use them, even if he hates them. I can remember how angry he got when Grandfather spoke to him about instructing me. Even though Sebina hasn't said who organized this, I believe that Grandfather was responsible. Never before have I been so excited to learn anything! Unfortunately, I do not have time to address a full journal entry, but I will write much more once the time avails itself to me. January 11, Rudolf I have not had the time nor energy to write much in my journal as of late, but I will try to lay out briefly what I have been exposed to, even if I do not have the luxury of details. Today we explored the history of the Shinigami and how they have interacted with the Quincy, but it seemed strange to me, seeing as the Shinigami took the blame for many issues that the Quincy seemed more responsible for. When I said this, Amos sighed and would not explain why when I asked him. Perhaps I will ask Grandfather about this when we return. Sebina seemed to be rather concerned about something, but would not tell me. Maybe I will ask her about this again at a later date. January 22 Bridgette We have returned home. Unfortunately I could not keep the diary up to date with my state on the excursion, beyond my previous entry. I was so tired from the lessons, I wasn't expecting them to be anywhere near as difficult as they were. Each lesson taxed everything I had... But I am a Quincy now! I can use the bow, and even the flying god step! Each lesson was so difficult, but Sebina helped me so much that it became a mountain I could climb instead of a sheer cliff. No one had ever mentioned how difficult it is to first get ahold of the spiritrons in order to form the arrows. Not only that, but the Flying God Step was so hard to learn. Not only that, but shortly after I learned it, we had to run back to the Manor in order to return before sundown, and that was the most exhausting thing I've ever done. None of the other training was that hard, but I know Sebina was happy due to how she kept smiling as she glanced back. At least that allowed me to learn how to move more efficiently with the Flying God Step. I was pouring so much extra energy into the ability that it ended up being sloppy and slow, so I had to prune the energy as I ran. That was extremely hard, but I suppose I did a good job. Unfortunately, Father said nothing as we returned, and neither did Mother. At least Mother nodded. I'll have to ask Grandfather if Father hates me tomorrow. January 30 Nadine I talked with Grandfather today again. After Father hit me for asking why he did not practice his Quincy power with me, he became angry, and struck at me. I bled for a few minutes from my nose, but Sebina managed to stem the bleeding once Father stormed out. Grandfather says that Father does not hate me, but I am not sure I believe him. Even though I trust Grandfather, and I know that Father has the best interests of the family at heart, I only wish that he would speak to me. February 1 Bridgette, Today, Grandfather took me out training! I know he's trying to distract me from what happened yesterday with Father, but it still hurts. Grandfather insists that there are many ways to show love, but that my father simply does not understand the need to. I hope he's right... I got to see Grandfather's bow this morning! That was enough to help distract me for the noon, especially since he showed me that it was possible to fire arrows while his other hand was on his cane. He didn't tell me to learn such things, but I got to see it three times, so I believe that I should. I already have an idea, but perhaps its not what Grandfather did. If I create enough spiritrons on a narrow string, I might be able to use that to draw and fire the arrow! I'm going to try to do that tomorrow. February 2 Nadine, I made a string today! It was as thin as a spider's silk, just like the one outside my window, but it was weak. I could barely tug on it before it fell apart. I'm not sure why, but I don't want to ask Grandfather. That would ruin the surprise after all, and I want his reaction to be geniune. A thought keeps escaping me though, and that is 'is this all I can do with this?' Can I only pull a bowstring, or fire an arrow with it? When I saw the sun glint off the string, it seemed vulnerable and afraid, almost as if it were saying that it did not wish to be used in battle. I want to show Grandfather... But I want Father to want to talk about it. I want him and Mother to approve of it. I don't know why, but I don't understand why Father hates me so much. March 3 Rudolf, Today I impressed Grandfather! We practiced with the Flying God Step today, and I managed to get behind him! He even said that he was proud of my progress. Even though I think he was letting me outpace him, Grandfather was happy. As far as finishing the strings, I have yet to make major progress, but at least it is now a great deal easier to fashion them. Hopefully I will be able to impress Grandfather by finishing the strings by the end of the week. March 14 Bridgette, Today I finished the strings! It took me almost two weeks, but I finally did it! They were so fine and I managed to make at least a thousand appear when I showed Grandfather. Was he ever impressed! I'm not sure, but I think he managed to learn how to use the strings when I showed him how. I'm just happy that I managed to surprise him. October 23 Rudolf, Mother is pregnant again, hopefully I get to have another sibling soon. I don't have much time tonight, because Father is preparing me to meet someone 'important.' There are so many regulations, its so tiring. I guess when I meet him at the Solstice, I'll find out what all the fuss is about. December 27 Nadine, The boy I met was nasty. He was so mean, and acted as if he owned me, but Father didn't tell me that I was to meet him for a betrothal until he arrived. Now I'm promised to this powerless child that is so mean! He doesn't even have the ability to see the spirits. I hope Father changes his mind. July 19, 1481 Otto. That would have been his name. Mother gave birth to him a few days ago, and I was excited, but today, he took a terrible turn and suddenly died. I don't know why, but it doesn't feel right. I don't have the heart to ask, though. Even Grandfather was surprised with how fast his health turned sour. December 8 Grandfather died today. I'm all alone with my mother and father that don't even love me! I'm betrothed to a boy I'm afraid of, and my newest sibling died. I hate this year, I want it to be over! I hope that next year is better. January 1, 1492 Otto, I was married today, to Freidrich Del'Armgo. My name is now Liriel Barrison Del'Armgo, and as a celebration, he took me. It amazed me, how much that simple action hurt. Even now, I'm still hurting, despite it being hours later. It barely even lasted fifteen minutes, and the amount of blood... I'm to live with him until either Father dies and gives us the Barrison mansion, I produce a son to carry on his name, or Freidrich agrees to live within the Barrison Manor. March 18, Nadine, He took me today, again, against my will. He becomes so much more violent, day by day. I don't want to be with him. Every day he becomes a little more frightening, and I was almost seen practicing my arts. He doesn't even allow me to play my violin anymore... I don't know what to do. November 3 Bridgette, Father was killed while hunting today. I'm not sure how, or why, but the letters tell of a black discharge from his eyes. Such a thing is only found in the records describing my sisters and brothers after they die. I am not sure how, or why, but I believe that Mother poisoned him. Tomorrow we will move back to my childhood home. November 9 I am pregnant. I'm not entirely certain, but I can feel something is vastly different. I have to get out of here, and away from Freidrich. I will not let this simple man touch my child, even if he did sire it. That will not happen. I do not know when I will be able to write again, but to all my brothers and sisters that didn't get to live, I love you and miss you. Goodbye. April 11, 1493 I am safe now. I am in Rome, and have taken vows with one of the many orders of nuns at the Vatican in Rome. I do not feel right one bit deceiving the sisters of the order, but in this place, I am being sheltered from the wrath of Freidrich. My home is now in ashes, but I still have my child and I will continue the family name. This is my duty now, as a Quincy and a woman. I can't properly express how I feel, away from Freidrich, and nor will I ever see him again. I can't imagine what the Mother Superior was thinking when I came to her, ragged and alone, not to mention dirty that night eight days ago. Even though I do not believe in the teachings of this structure, I will support them until I can no longer find refuge here. Hopefully that day will be my last one. June 20 Today was...was it a dream? Never before have I endured such oddity at any one person's hands, but that peculiar, blue hair was in itself enough, and how she talked so jovially! Every word was punctuated with that smile, and such an attitude for a Shinigami to possess in a place, but I couldn't help wondering if it was an act. Not only that, she cast one of the Shinigami arts on me. I'd never felt that level of pleasure before, but that's beside the point. To do that to me in my robes was so rude! Not only that, but I know she could see my pregnant belly, for she kept teasing me about how my crossness was not a healthy emotion for the baby. That wasn't the end of it though, for she decided it would be her place to take her time sleeping on my bed while I continued my duties in the chapel. Such an odd thing must not happen to anyone but the most unlucky. June 22 I met another Shinigami today. This one was a Captain, as well... Apparently the one that paid me that...visit...two days ago was a fugitive. I should have known it, the way she kept glancing around, almost as if she were afraid of something. I didn't know what she had done, at least not until I met this Captain Katashi. Something about him said I could trust him, but despite how nervous I was, I could barely keep my hands still. It is not uncommon for a Quincy to end up in poor condition after such a meeting, but he was entirely civil and understanding. Despite that, I still tried to lie to him to cover for her. Why? What did she do to deserve that? She trompsed into my room after following me on the street for eight miles, and then cast that barbaric art on me and fled! Yet I still covered for her. Perhaps that means, that despite bearing Freidrich's child, I am still a decent being. No! I refuse to believe that anything that my Father organized impinges my value as a human being. But even then, the Captain promised me resolutely that the woman would be safe from harsh judgments. I believed him in my heart the moment he said it. I don't know why, but I feel like he is worth trusting. Maybe not so much of this 'Luthien,' though. I hope I did the right thing. August 1, 1501 I was sick with the pox until today. I don't know how I contracted it, but I was on death's door until I tried something. I do not know what I should call it that I did, but I used the strings from my Heavenly Suit to draw in energy to mend my cells. I didn't know if it would work, but I healed so rapidly that those attending me called it a miracle. I will continue to investigate how exactly my body became so suddenly healthy. March 29, 1511 Elena had twins today. I am so happy for her, and her husband. The two will make wonderful parents. Unfortunately I do not have time for a fully entry today. Perhaps I will be freer tomorrow. September 2, 1516 Elena's children, Mara and Rafael...they are dead. I do not know why, but both were taken from my daughter a fortnight prior. I cannot write a full entry. I must be with her. October 18, 1516 Elena is dead. My only child is dead from the grief. I do not believe I have the strength to continue now. I... I have no hunger now. October 28, 1516 I believe this day will be my last. After I finish this entry, I believe my own life will end. I am so weak from the lack of water that I can barely remain awake. I hope I will be able to find Elena and the children if I endure to make it to the walls of Soul Society. November 1, 1516 I was such a fool. I believed that my life had no meaning, but the woman that saved me, she believed otherwise. In fact, she believed so that strongly that she summoned aide from Soul Society to nurse me back to health. Both Luthien and Katashi are now within arm's reach as I write this, and a Shinigami doctor as well. Perhaps my family is a little larger than I believed, and I need to live for them as well. I will live for them, for I swore to Luthien and Katashi that I would do so. November 19, 1517 Today I met a grand Quincy of terrific skill. He wished to take me as his apprentice, but I do not believe I am capable of being a renowned Quincy's apprentice. I am to meet with him tomorrow, and I will begin to train in his style as well. January 24, 1523 I am now the leader of the Quincy. As such, I have to choose a title for myself, and as such, I claimed the title of Dame. Now, I will begin to organize the various disparate branches of the Quincy and create an organization that may lead them properly. How this will be done is a puzzle I must figure out. May 13, 1602 Luthien came to visit today. She decided that the best time to appear would be when I entered my bath. After she pestered me for no more than an hour, she let me dress and then thrilled me with some tales of her misadventures while she harassed people. While I was enjoying her story, I took the time to notice how often she gazed at my body. I don't mind that, but she does tend to be a little over-lecherous at times. December 11, 1622 The Quincy High Command has successfully been established in Munich. Having toured the facility, it is quite remarkable and very well fashioned. I believe that it will be an exceptional facility, and will be very well suited for the leaders that I will hopefully choose wisely. August 21, 1710 I received a visit from Luthien and Katashi today, and they told me more stories of Soul Society. They remained for several hours, and departed together. I'm becoming extremely fond of that pair of shinigami, maybe even more than any members of my own family... I'm not sure I would ever tell anyone that, though. February 18, 1815 Another visit from Luthien today. That makes three this week, but she was rather somber today. I'd never seen her in that mood, but it is nice to know she has other emotions other than happy, aroused or content. I'd never wish to see her sad, but I do want to see her be honest with herself. I'm pleased with her constant visits, frankly, and I would not trade her for anything in the world...even my own blood kin. If Father were to hear that, he would become livid, but I do not care in the least. Luthien and Katashi are my friends, and I cherish every single moment I have with them. February 29, 1852 Katashi came today. He was alone. I instantly knew something was wrong. He walked with so little pride, as if someone had stabbed a knife into his back. Then he told me what had happened. Luthien is dead. I don't know what to do. I'm already crying just thinking about it. Why? What about our promise, Luthien? That was meant for you too. I'm so sad, Luthien. I don't know what to do... May 23, 1869 Katashi came again today. This was the third time in the last two weeks. I wonder how he's really feeling, but frankly, I hope he opens up. I wouldn't mind if he asked for more of my time, but I don't know how a relationship would work, if it even could. I suppose I'll write a little more later if it goes well. September 20, 1873 Unfortunately, I had to tell Katashi that I could not continue the relationship. There were too many extraneous factors involved, but I know him well enough to understand that he was not willing to let Ayane go. That would not have happened, no matter what the case, and... Well, I don't think the lack of physical intimacy helped at all, but I'm...still a bit nervous around that aspect. I hope that no offense was given, but he seemed to be understanding enough to not harbor any negative feelings. October 23, 1902 My new Manor is completed on my new home. I have returned to the fold of the Quincy, and taken the title of Vicereine. That title will now define me, until I either die or step aside, so I will fulfill the requirements with every ounce of my being. I look forward to meeting all of the new challenges associated with it. |
