The Valentine Bloodline
|
The Legacy:
Valentine is currently one of the smaller houses, or bloodlines within the vampiric realm. An old and legendary bloodline, it's origins have been lost to time. It is known that they once had a much larger presence in these lands, yet the records seem to indicate an attempted purge of the family by the other bloodlines. Fearing the annihilation of their entire bloodline should the other houses be successful in their genocide, a select group of the Valentine brood made the decision to travel to new lands. The rest of the family was annihilated. Through these wanderers, the line continued in secret, until one of it's members adopted the name "Azariah Valentine", thus creating the bloodline of kindred that exist in the current era. It is known now, that Azariah, and thus his family, have returned, though their purpose remains unclear.
The Valentine Estate | | | | "Omnes ut 'reliquit sanguis est et cinis."
The Estate In it's prime, the Estate was a remarkable feat of engineering and architecture. It resembled a mighty fortified Cathedral, and was constructed from solid granite, with masterfully crafted embellishments made from Onyx. It is located deep within a mountain valley, and is secured on three sides by the mountain its self. Without knowing this location already, the building is nigh on impossible to discover. Beneath the estate and into the mountainsides surrounding it, the Valentines had commissioned a great network of catacombs. Many of these lead to completely hidden exits and entrances, and as a result, the deepest and most secure of these were completely undiscovered when it was destroyed. These hidden parts of the estate now house the most recent incarnation of the Valentine bloodline.
During the final moments of the purge, wherein the other vampire dynasties sought to annihilate the Valentines, an almighty attack was launched upon the estate. Since that time, the ancient building has been left in complete ruins. There was once call to destroy it by those few who presumed the Valentines were not extinct, yet they were the minority of voices. It was decreed that this site was to be left as a relic and a lesson, that nothing could withstand a united sect of vampires. As a result, the ruined estate has become a veritable deathtrap of unsafe objects.

Heritage The Valentine Bloodline are unique in many ways to many outside of the line, but inside, characteristics between kin may seem familiar and somewhat similar. All members share the same ocular characteristic, crimson red eyes with unique patterns around the iris, a trait passed down through the blood of their founder. Throughout the ages, common characteristics have shined through. This bloodline all share an innate aptitude for warfare and any type of combat, whether it be swordsmanship or warfare on a grand scale. This aptitude allows them to pick up skills relating to combat rather easily, creating some of the most formidable warriors known to the realm. The downside to this trait is that this craving for martial prowess can lead the kindred to become somewhat unstable, violent and chaotic. In time, their addiction to violence turns into a uncontrollable thirst for destruction and war. It is this disadvantage that the family is most notable for, especially considering how obvious it is when one of the Valentines starts to head down this pathway.
| The Line of the Wanderer Of all the Valentines to make their return to the lands, it was Azariah's God-forsaken brood that came forth first. As such, they were the most prominent of the family - the elders, if you will. All of his ''children'', as they would later be known, inherited some of Azariah's traits... Undying loyalty to the family... An unnatural prowess for combat... And of course, the instinctive desire to roam through the lands. As a result of this desire to wander, and their founders view on the world, the direct descendants of Azariah often find themselves eschewing the ideas of rank and status within society, in favor of not being fixed to any one location for long...
