Student's Name: Simon James Ink-Hart Grade/Age: He just barely turned sixteen. Height/Weight: He's five foot ten, so about average height. Simon's not exactly the skinny, wiry type, but he's not exactly the "bulging muscles" sort of guy either. Instead, he's somewhere in between, but it suits him. Where Your Sim Originally Came From: Bridgeport by birth, but he has no attachments to the city. If Jack didn't live here, Simon wouldn't either. To be honest, Si isn't really sure where he calls home. After-School Activities: Working at the animal shelter or with the wildlife rehabilitator, missing his parents, anything that will get him outside, watching Milo, ignoring homework, wondering where his mother is, listening to music, texting his cousins, hanging out with Jack, relaxing in his tiny bedroom in the tiny house that he was born in, going grocery shopping with Jack and Milo, cooking with Tehya or Jack, hiding in between the shelves of the library as he soaks up information, playing ping pong on the makeshift table in the garage, visiting his cousins, trying to contact his dad, and attempting to clean the house but getting distracted two minutes in. Personality Traits: 1. Animal Lover- Simon has always loved animals of all sorts. Despite the fact that he's never been allowed to own a pet, he's spent plenty of time around animals. He volunteers at the animal shelter, helps the local wildlife rehabilitator, and is considering training a seeing-eye dog. Si's good at what he does. It helps that he has a calming affect on even the wildest of animals. 2. Loves the Outdoors- he's frequently found outside. He loves hiking, biking, running, swimming, tree-climbing- anything and everything to get him outdoors. If he's not working with animals, he's either at the park with his nephew Milo or in the forest. 3. Patient- almost nothing can make him lose control of his temper. Unlike his hot-headed brother, he tends to always keep his cool. He's just calm in general. But when he explodes, boiling over with anger, well... he really loses it. 4. Quiet- part of his silence is probably that he's untrusting. Simon knows people will let you down. But the other part is just that he doesn't like to talk that much. 5. Unflirty- he's seen his brother's countless failed romances. He watched his parents fall apart. He's seen his Aunt Marissa, known as the Great Whore by many, jump from man to man, never failing to be unfaithful. And then there's the rest of his family's commitment issues and other issues. They've pretty much scared Si off romance for the rest of his life. So he's not interested in any relationship at the moment, thank you very much. It would take quite a bit to get him to lower his defenses enough to care about someone romantically. Likes: his brother, Jack, and his nephew, Milo; not wearing shoes, because he loves the feeling of the ground on his bare feet; his parents, but some days he really hates them; some of his cousins, but some of his cousins are too... intense, shall we say, for him (his extended family in general has more issues than all of Bridgeport put together); spending time wight he family members he can stand; being outdoors, whether he's hiking to a waterfall or climbing the tallest tree he can find or jumping off the diving board or mowing the lawn; animals of all sorts and being around them; dark chocolate covered mangoes, his current addiction; when his dad visits, although the visits are infrequent and over too soon; going out to eat at Simburger; hoodies because they're comfortable; just driving aimlessly, no map and no cares; when his mother remembers to tell them where she's going; texting, because it's easier than talking; being prepared for anything (he's been known to buy large amounts of batteries, milk, tissues, and bandages); non-judgmental people, because they don't hate him on the basis that he's a Hart; helping people overcome their fears, despite the fact that he doesn't like to face his own; beautiful paintings of landscapes; strangers, because he doesn't know them and they don't know him; and remaining calm. Dislikes: Being alone is his biggest fear. He can't sleep at night if he's the only one if the house. His inner-therapist says it's because he's been left so many times that he's scared the only people he has left will leave him too. He dislikes other things, but the panic he feels about someday being alone overpowers the rest of them. It defines his character. Physical Description: Simon has big hands, deathly pale, abundantly freckled skin, and a bad habit of frowning at people who try to talk to him. His dark hair is often messy, no matter how often he brushes it. It's a bit longish, and resembles the hair of Hiro Hamada from Big Hero 6. He dresses in jeans that are a size too big and drag around his feet. The only reason the jeans don’t fall down to his ankles is the old, cracked brown belt he cinches around his waist. He’s always found wearing a greyish-brown hoodie that used to be Jack’s and a baggy t-shirt that he doesn’t remember buying. Si prefers to be barefoot, but when required to wear shoes, he chooses black flip-flops, no matter the weather. Despite his sloppy appearance, he does have some nice qualities. He has basically perfect eyebrows and eyelashes, white teeth (even if they’re a tiny bit crooked), a nice smile, and beautiful eyes. His eyes are probably his best features. They’re gold around the inside of the iris, near the pupil of the eye, and from there, little flecks of gold and silver are woven into his blue-green eyes. His eyes are amazing. Summary: (Told in first-person, from Simon's point of view.) Some days I wonder if it would be better if I hadn't been born. All of our problems started after I was born. Before that, everything was fine. It was just Jack and Mom and Dad. Then I was born. Mom started leaving us one month after I was born. She would come back every couple weeks for a few days, just to make sure I wasn't dead yet. Dad took off when I was eight months old. That's when Jack had to start raising me. Maybe if I hadn't been born, none of that would have happened. But I was born. I was born to Ellis Hart and Nautica Ink, a sophomore at university and a girl who'd just graduated high school. It's been downhill ever since. I guess I have Jack. That sounds like I don't love my brother, but I do. I just don't want to be like him. My cousin Calvin once described him as the poster child for commitment issues, but I don't know if that's exactly how I'd describe Jack. Here's what happens: he falls in love with ease, way too fast, and thinks everything is good. That girl is "the one". But then another girl catches his eye and he moves on as quickly as he can. The only things he's never left behind are me and Milo. Milo Cathaniel Ink-Hart is his son. I think Milo was born when he was about sixteen. He's never told me to the mother was. He had three girlfriends at the time, so I have no idea. To be perfectly honest, I don't care. I love Milo all the same. I'd actually prefer to never get married. Perry, AJ, and I are in agreement. Marriage just screws things up. Look at our family's track record if you don't believe me. Anyway, my dad is Ellis Hart. He's a thief that's fluent in eight languages and can get by in another six. Last time he came back to visit, he brought me a Van Gogh he stole from a Swiss art collector. I have it hanging over my bed. It's not the police want to mess with my family. Dad doesn't visit often. I think it's because we remind him of our mother. She tricked him into falling in love with her, pretending she was a university student as well. By the time he found out she was a high schooler with a troubled past, she was pregnant with Jack. So I when he looks at us, he sees his mistakes, his guilt. Mom is just... trouble. Born Elaine Martinez, she ran away from her high society family, changed her name, got in trouble for petty theft, and did a whole lot more crazy stuff. She disappears a lot, sometimes to a bar down the road, sometimes to another city, sometimes to half way across the world. Occasionally, she remembers to leave a note explaining where she's going. More often, she doesn't. I don't think she wanted to be a mother. I think Jack was an accident and I was born in an attempt to make sure Dad never left her. Isn't it a shame my birth blew the family apart instead? Social Group: If the Hart family is considered a social group, that's his. His father, Ellis Hart, once said that once you're one, you can never escape. You can run, but your past, your demons, your genetics, will always make you screw up, will make you run back to the Harts, the family of criminals and whores and troublemakers and let-downs. Ellis said that Harts are pre-destined for misery and regret. It's something Simon's always believed. Grades: Usually B's. Sometimes A's. Sometimes C's. Occasionally a D. He's even gotten F's. Simon just accepts whatever grade he gets. He gets by on his natural abilities, refusing to study and do homework. |
