“We’re back!” I shouted to my fellow carnivorans, I was awfully thrilled and couldn’t wait to show off the fish Superpredator and I had managed to catch. Superpredator had the honour of catching the fish of the day, a large pike which looked around 15-20 kgs. How he had managed to catch it and pull it up I will never know, the kid is far stronger than you might think but the thing nearly pulled him in the water. It was a difficult catch, with a rod fashioned from only a hook I made from bone, a piece of rope we had found along the shoreline which was probably from our ship. All this was attached to a thick bamboo stick. The total time in which it took to catch that big, ugly fish was about 10 minutes. The pike was almost as long as Superpredator was tall, just short of a meter and a half and pretty bulky for a pike. I myself had caught a few lake trout and some kind of bass. The lakes on the island were rich with marine life and it seems as if your average fish is larger here than other places, which is not surprising due to the lack of human activity around, no one to fish them out, and no one to pollute the water of the lake.

When I saw the look on Admantus’ face, though, my smile faded instantly and turned into a frown. His expression was full of grief and sadness. He was sitting alone on a fallen log underneath a thick blanket of grey clouds which was covering the sky above us. Superpredator walked over to Admantus cautiously and, judging by his face, he was scared of what Admantus would tell us, but determined to know nonetheless. "What happened?" I asked in a serious voice. Admantus looked at me in the eyes as a few tears ran down his cheeks. His eyes had gone red from grief and crying, I feared the answer even more now. Admantus took a deep breath and wiped away his tears, "...He....he..." His voice was broken, and he began to shake a bit, as if the words were stuck in his throat. He tried to continue, "...It..it..it's...it's Coherentsheaf...he..he's..." The rest of Admantus’ speech wasn't necessary, so he went back to his crying. I knew it was going to happen, but the shock was no smaller, "..No..no..no...he was doing alright yesterday..how...he..no..this can’t be happening" I mumbled in disbelief to myself, Superpredator was weeping now. It took another few seconds before I could actually comprehend it. A few watery tears fell. It was as if a part of this group had left forever. I was never really close to Coherentsheaf, but he was part of the Carnivora group, and a friend nonetheless. I took a deep breath and nodded. There was a brief moment of silence which felt like an eternity. I finally asked "Where's the body?" Admantus didn't say anything, instead he pointed towards the tent where the wounded body lay motionless on the floor.

The corpse was a few metres in front of the tent. Around it stood Wyvax and Theropod in silence. I approached silently and slowly. To my surprise Superpredator had followed me there. I had grown awfully close to the kid, he was always good company, despite our large difference in age. As much as I wanted to tell him not to look, I didn’t because I knew he wasn’t going to listen anyway. I stared at the lifeless body of Coherentsheaf. His eyes had been closed by one of the others, his skin was pale, almost milky white in colour. The look of him sent a chill down my spine. There was a horrid stench surrounding the corpse. For a split-second I felt like vomiting, but thankfully I didn’t as it would have been very disrespectful. “We need to bury him before predators come along, we know there are bears and coyotes here,” I said. Obviously they were well aware. “We should get Rashido, he’ll sort everything out,” suggested Superpredator. “I’m afraid you’re too late, Rashido and Wild left about an hour ago” Wyvax replied. Oh great, our leader is gone when we need him the most I thought miserably. “And Black Ice?” I asked. “Out practicing his parkour skills” Theropod said. “Typical,” said Superpredator. It was up to us to give Coherentsheaf a proper funeral, one that a member of Carnivora deserved. “We should bury him by the beach, well away from our group, even if the bears do go for it, the bear won’t be anywhere near us,” Theropod suggested. “We should gather everyone from carnivora, everyone that wants to attend. As for the funeral itself, I suggest a more...well...deserving funeral, one which will keep the predators and scavengers well away of the corpse. Any suggestions?” There was silence for a moment. Then it hit me. “How about we make a small raft, fill it with wood, set Coherentsheaf on fire and send him out to sea, rather than leave him for the bears,” I said. The others nodded in agreement.

An hour or so later everyone capable of walking, with the exception of Wild and Rashido, had gathered. No one was left unaffected by the death of our friend. Some people like Black Ice dealt with it through anger and silence, others like Admantus through tears and grief. I decided to speak to everyone, “Coherentsheaf’s funeral will be held by the beach, I’m sure you all understand why. Everybody arm yourselves, there might be predators, but as long as we stick together and remain calm we should be alright. Any questions?” “One, who the hell put you in charge?” answered Sectotl. I ignored him, initially I had hoped Rashido would lead this operation, he had gone with Wild however and as no one was in command I decided to step up to the task. There were enough weapons for all of us. Some re-used the obsidian axes we had used to chop down the cane reeds, some created fancy spears made from fire-hardened wood. I myself chose a bow with obsidian-tipped arrows along with a simple dagger made from a piece of obsidian tied to a bamboo hilt.

It was about a kilometer walk until we reached the beach. We dragged Coherentsheaf’s pale, lifeless corpse on a bamboo platform, the same one he would soon be burning on. The sun was setting as we were walking through the dense vegetation. It was difficult getting Cohenrentsheaf’s body through all the obstacles obstructing the path but after about half an hour we had arrived at our destination. We put the bamboo platform onto the boat we made a couple of hours back. At the time of our arrival on the beach the sun was nearly gone from sight. I glanced around the beach, it may have been the cleanest beach I had ever seen, which was actually quite unfortunate as rubbish could have come in handy. Nevertheless the sky made for a fantastic sight. It was blue, purple and orange all at once, and for an instant I forgot all about our stranding and the death of our friend. “Alright guys, lets find some wood and sticks for the flaming raft, I also need some dry pine needles to start the fire”. “On it!” Superpredator replied and headed off to get the necessary materials. A couple of others joined him.

I saw something bright shining in the moonlight some 20 metres down the beach. I hurried over to investigate. The shiny object turned out to be a mere tin can, “The current must have brought it here,” I mumbled to myself. I was just about to take it when I heard a rustling noise in the bushes. I moved closer to investigate this strange noise. It was a species of deer unlike any I’d ever seen before. About the size of a large moose, but built similar to an elk, it’s antlers were massive, nearly 3 metres in length. Suddenly I had a terrifying thought If this thing charges at me, I’m a dead man.

ZASS BI & Neon would be a perfect match for AHSS Black Ice (Beast Form)

Me too. But for now AHSS BI is too prematurely developed and he hasn't even got his beast form yet. I gotta somehow make him different from the other 2 versions.

You want me to save you from a 1000+lbs Irish Elk  you serious?
You can scare it off, or get the whole group to do that, you could have people kill it by throwing fire hardened spears and obsidian axes at it, there's a whole group collected here, you make it run after you and maybe swim our of range, whatever you feel like.

If you saw what I wrote, I'm only about 20 metres from the raft which Coherentsheaf is lying on, you can reach me in seconds, and people are walking forth and back gathering wood, someones bound to show up.

Ever heard of the bystanders effect? The odds of someone helping you from a large group a people against a charging elk is unlikely. But don't worry I got chu.
