I wake suddenly sweating tremendously, despite the cold weather outside. It's the same nightmare every time: the loss of control, wading out into the frigid waters, and the hands, webbed and hairy hands. Am I turning into some beast? Was Mahina just a figment of my imagination? Is this some sort of warning? It was something I pondered on every day, yet I never got any closer to the answer. Worst of all was the voice, that deep male voice. Was this what happened to Black Ice and Rashido? Am I going mad as well? The thought sent a chill up my spine. I must sustain my sanity, I can't end like them. The feeling of insanity always puzzled me, is it a loss of control and awareness? Or is it similar to the ADHD that plagued me in earlier parts of my life? The extreme temptation to do stupid and violent actions, regardless I don't want to experience it. I hear a loud scream, without doubt from a woman. I snap out of my sleepy state immediately and rush out of my shelter and into the campsite. I'm greeted by a tense and negative atmosphere, some guy is lying on the floor screaming in pain, although he seems to be exaggerating I have no doubt his injury is severe. A woman is having her head tended to, she's clinging on to consciousness and is bleeding a lot as well, it makes for a grizzling sight. I hear a beastly growl, then a furious voice shouting "I'll fucking kill you!" I turn and spot Rashido, but not the regular Rashido I know, this is the beastly him. Once again he bears the eyes of a beast, full of rage and evil. He is just barely restrained by Wild, Apex and Sectotl, all seem to be struggling a lot at holding him back. The others in the group have mixed reactions: most seem generally shocked including Superpredator, we all looked up to Rashido as the leader he was when we were stranded, but Superpredator most of all. A few of the girls are crying, especially Emily, she looks horrified, I know she has feelings for Rashido, I give her a pitiful look, but she fails to notice. Then there are a few angry looks as well including the old man who has hated Rashido since the start and Wyvax, both seem tempted to beat Rashido bloody, out of revenge. Black Ice's reaction is somewhat different though, there is no emotion visible on his face, his eyes are fixed on Rashido, observing him carefully. He's no different and he knows it, he's a beast just like Rashido. At last Rashido calms down and retreats to his tent, I sigh in relief. There's a silence, everyone too shocked to speak, although it only lasts for a minute or two, it feels like hours, finally I hear muttering and hushed voices whispering words like "psychopath" and "freak". Rashido is not always a beast, but recently he has been so more occasionally, he's like Jekyll and Hide, he can be the brilliant leader or the ruthless savageIt's only a matter of time before he kills someone, though. Black Ice too, will there be others? Are we all gonna end like this? The thought makes me angry. I clench my fist and close my eyes for an instance. Another question I don't know the answer to. I glance towards the forest hoping to see the beautiful pale face of Mahina, but all I see is trees and darkness. At this stage food, water and shelter is no longer a major concern, and many just slack off during the day, leaving the work to others, people who just as well might make stakes to defend against animals, people who could help hunt or fish, make tools and more comfortable shelters. They need someone to tell them what to do. Our camp itself could be improved a lot, be more organised. It's about time the group develops to the next stage. Something must be done, but what? It is time to act. I must think through the next steps very carefully. I head down to the place where I can experience peace and quiet. I strap on my bamboo quiver and load it with obsidian arrows, I look carefully at one of the arrows admiring my handiwork, well aren't you beautiful the shaft is fresh bamboo, the lightness of the material enables it to fly greater distance, seagull flight feathers attached to the end of the shaft and finally a deadly broad head made from the shining dark glass, obsidian. I also add in my fishing line, made from rope washed up on the beach and a bone hook. In my belt I carry a short obsidian dagger, I consider bringing my spear as well, but i have plenty of weapons with me already. The walk down to the new lake I found a few days ago, is peaceful. There's birds singing in the trees, and insect sounds as well, but besides that only the sound of my feet crunching the dead leaves on the forest floor. I see a critter moving every now and then, but otherwise it's motionless, almost ghostly. This is how I met Mahina. I quickly glance around the forest, hoping for just a glimpse of her. Nothing. She's probably just a figment of my imagination, a dream. Yet I can't help it, something tells me I must find her. I take another look around, nothing again. Disappointed I look down "da hell?" I spot two black pebbles and a white, but this is a long walk from the sea. Then a dozen pebbles, some black and some white, fall onto the others. I look up, my eyes start widening, its her, she's real Mahina is sitting in a branch a few metres up a pine tree throws down the pebbles, her hair waving in the breeze, yet as suddenly as she appears, she vanishes, "da hell!?" The pebbles are still there, though. There's really something off about this place. I pick up a white pebble, examining it carefully, it's smooth perfectly oval, the others are the same. What does it mean? What are you? Why show up now?. I wake up sweating once again, but this time it's by the lake, "da hell?" If that was all a dream, how did I get here? How was a dream? How much reality? The pebbles are gone that much was a dream, but I'm here, how is this possible? The lake is beautiful, shining prettily as the suns rays reflect of it. It's small only a few hundred metres across, but that doesn't matter I'm not here to fish for big game. I find an edge elevated just slightly above the water surface, I sit with my feet dangling in the cool water, it's cold, yet comfortable all the same. I close my eyes enjoying the tranquility of the lake and the relaxing sounds of forest, this is real magic, nature itself. "Sup Fishfreak!" A voice right behind me says loudly right into my ear. Startled beyond belief I draw my knife and lash out with lightning speed, luckily the person lunges back just in the nick of time "calm the fuck down dude" black ice says laughing hysterically. "You scared the crap out of me" I respond my voice still trembling a bit, my heart still racing. "Be happy I wasn't a wolf or cougar, then you'd really be screwed" he says more serious now, but still with a hint of laughter. "Fair enough, still I nearly killed you", that made him laugh once again "not a chance I dodged that easily, you'd never be even close to killing me" and with that he walked over to a tree and started climbing it, continuing his parkour practice. He's right one-on-one I'd be slaughtered, still there are other ways of killing someone. A well placed arrow and he'd be the dead one. I go back to my relaxation, but this time taking Black Ice's advice, so I'm equipped with a dagger. I'm basking in the sun and cooling in the water. I feel great, relaxed. Finally the thoughts and ideas start flowing. I must diminish Rashido's influence within the group, but how? Despite his violent nature, some people still respect him, many because of it. Crowning a new leader clearly won't solve things, it will only worsen them massively, it might risk a split or fight within the group, that would cost us a lot, perhaps even in human lives. We can't accept Rashido's tyranny either, more people would get hurt. Then the pebbles come to mind, "black and white pebbles" I mutter. My eyes widen "that's it" I say. Like the ancient Greeks, we vote, democracy. Perhaps a council rather than a leader, that would help along with some laws. Shocked by my own genius I shout out "I got it!". Surprised by my sudden outburst something stirs nearby. I draw my bow and load it with an obsidian arrow, ready to fire, ready to kill. I glance around, and then I spot it, dinner. It's a family of river otters, as expected they've already sighted me. I aim, yet still they simply stare at me, showing no concern or fear, what the hell is wrong with the animals on this island?. There are five, two of which look to be juvenile, I set my sights on a large male. I stare at him right in the eyes and he returns the favour, uncertainty fills my mind, he's a father he has a family. A teardrop forms in my eye and rolls down my cheek, my fingers turn slightly sweaty, I release. The arrow embeds itself in the neck of the otter with tremendous speed and accuracy. The family scatters in fright. I approach the dying male, he growls desperately trying to intimidate me, but it only worsens my pity. "I'm sorry" I whisper softly. I close my eyes and stab the dagger deep into the belly. I hear the last breath of the dying beast, followed by the whimpering of it's offspring. I stare at my hands, they're covered in blood. The tears keep coming, what have I done? Guilt fills my mind. the deep male voice inside my head returns faint and strong at the same time "....you're too weak.....you're not a killer...you're not worthy...." And then it vanishes, hopefully forever. The confusion is back. What do you want?, "what do you want?" I whisper , "What do you want!?" This time I'm shout up towards the sky, but the sky made no reply, only silence. I tie the dead otter to my belt, wiping the last tears from my eyes. I draw my dagger, ready to fight off any predator daring to steal my meal. I must share and discuss my plan with someone, someone trustworthy, someone who wants Rashido's demise as much as I. There's only one candidate, it must be Wyvax. With that clarity in my mind I stroll towards my friends and enemies. Walking at a quick pace through the forest to put my plan into action, to bring peace and organisation to our camp. Upon arrival of the camp the sun is setting and things have gone more or less back to normal, people are sitting around going about their usual business, it's as if nothing happened this morning. Wild is skinning a hare carefully with a flint knife, Munfy is enjoying a cigarette. How the hell did he manage to get a cigarette? He must have had some with him when we arrived or found some washed up on the beach. Apex is fire-hardening what appears to be a wooden spear and sectotl is preparing the spit fire to prepare the feast of the day. Black Ice is nowhere to be seen, he's probably still out amongst the trees. Rashido is sitting on a log, crafting weapons, currently he seems to be working on a flint axe. He is observing the area in the meantime, but with his regular eyes there's no beast present, however there are clear signs of regret or guilt. I look at him, and immediately he returns the favour. "Wild, mind skinning this one as well?" I ask throwing him the otter, I look back at Rashido, something is wrong, he's looking at the otter with an unusual look, he looks sad. He blinks. Now he looks at me with angry eyes, still the eyes of a human, but angry nonetheless. "It's a nice catch, but why don't you do it?" Wild replies with a hint of annoyance. Because I have to get out of here before Rashido turns from angry to savage and kills me. "I have something I need to do, please skin it and you'll get to pick the first chunk of meat" and with that I walk away. Wild sighs, but starts skinning the otter anyway. When i turn my back i constantly have the feeling of Rashido's angry eyes watching me, or am I just being paranoid? I find Wyvax in his tent, he's well awake just lying in his bed, relaxing. I jump straight to the point "I have a plan, but I'm going to need your help" I say, he nods slightly surprised by the sudden announcement, and asks "what plan?". I explain the plan to him in as much detail as possible, mentioning everything except the stones and the voice, best not have him think I'm crazy. He listens patiently. "I'm in" he finally says. Hope and relief fills me, "when do we start?" He asks, "soon enough, soon enough" To be continued... Edited by Fishfreak, Jul 26 2013, 01:40 AM.

We're not killing Rashido, were plotting to take him away from all the power, also Wyvax PMed me explaining how he would feel about Rashido he said he would be pissed at him and not his friend anymore he also said he would not want to take orders from him, so I figured who better to help take away his leadership, but I can change it slightly. But we're not plotting assassination, were planning a demise to his position as leader. |

The plan is to out up a council and have democracy lead the group, not one leader, but the decision making spread for everyone. What part made you think we were gonna kill Rashido? Sure perhaps exile him if he fails to follow laws which may be placed, but I wouldn't be in on assassinating him either. |
