My stomach growls "You're sure you dont want to stop for breakfeast?" Morris says "Im better off doing this on an empty stomach" I reply with a serious tone "I suppose" Morris sighs more then says and with that we start making our way to the boat. We didnt have to swim long because of the low tide, which was good because the water was cold, Morris had brought the emergency blankets to use as a kind of bag for the supplies but I wasnt worried about supplies, as soon as we hauled ourselves onto the heavily angeled (both horizontally and vertically, making it very awkward to stand on) deck I made a beeline straight for where i last saw my parents under the deck, which was now of course underwater but it didnt do much to slow me down, I dived down into the deck and swam to my parents sleeping quarters only to be even more horrified than I had anticipated.
I surface "we.....we wont be able to get them" I say between deep breaths Morris doesnt look surprised "yeah....I figured that we wouldnt, They were sitting right where the boat made impact" He say in a symphathetic voice "I will get the supplies below deck you stay up here and see what you can find" He continues "Yeah, sure" I reply all life from my voice absent. There wasnt much of anything up here and he knew it,he just wanted to make me feel like I was still helping while not making go back down there, I did find my dad's bowie knife and one of my shoes but just the one wasnt about to do me any good so I left it, Morris would periodically drop things off and then dive back below deck, after a couple minutes of this he had gotten enough stuff to fill the blankets he went back down again, I walked over to tell him we couldnt take anymore stuff when he surfaced again, I helped him up onto the deck and reached into his pocket and handed me my Mom's goldplated maple leaf necklace, I took it in hand and just stared at it, it was all I could think to do a the moment "I figured you would want this" he said through chatting teeth and blue lips "Th...Thank you Morris" I said with a cracked voice while holding back tears. We sat for bit on the boat, he was warming up with one of the blankets, while I looked at the necklace, I put it on and stood up "You ready to go?" I bellow at Morris who is on the other side " As I'll ever be" he replied we put the supplies in the center of the blankets and then pulled up the corners to make something of a pseudo bag, then we jumped into the water and thrashed fiercely to stay above water, The bags were making the the swimming extremely difficult, we should have thought ahead better and prepared some kind of raft for the supplies at least, to late to be worring about it now though, luckily the tide is still out and we dont have to swim too long. When we grt to the beach we collapse and lay on are backs breathing heavily, I recover well before Morris does so I take both the bags back to camp and am surprised to find the dog still there just outside camp, it muses me slightly but i put down the bags and go back for Morris instead of engaging the dog in anyway. I find he is already up and half way to the camp "Maybe your not as out of shape as I thought old man" I say mockingly "Out of shape? Im pretty sure im the one doing all the work around here you lazy punk" he quickly replies "guess whos waiting for us back at camp" i say changing the subject "the dog? Didnt you beat it and scare it off? Doesnt know how to take a hint eh?" He answers "doesnt help that I fed it right after, the mixed signals probably didnt help but still now that i think about it he could be useful, the garbage we are bound to leave will attract scavangers, if we feed it to him instead we our less likely to encounter whatever else could be on this island" I reply "good thinking kid morris" says in a slightly impressed tone "You forgetting my dad was a biologist?" I say eyebrowed raised "I just didnt think you were intreasted in it is all" he answers "Im hungry lets eat something" I say again changing the subject "and then take a nap, im beat" Morris says.
We eat some canned ham cooked and corn cooked on a rock, anything we didnt eat we through the dog's way, after that we bullshited for a bit and then went to sleep our nap turning into an early night.

To be continued.....
