Sensing the distress in Serena's thoughts, she quickly diverted that conversation. "And don't forget," she said, "that Loralei has to go through that exact situation. I, her sister, dated her then ex, now current, boyfriend. Is she jealous?? No!" She won't let you two alone in the same room. Shut up, Kei! Aaron stood, glaring at Kary for a good minute before he sighed and faced Serena. "You're right. Both of you. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Serena." Serena stood her ground, her eyes cold but to Kary and Kei, it was obvious she was about to forgive him. "I'm going to talk to Chris," Kary sighed. But it was an excuse to get out of the room. She knew Chris was already gone, his thoughts out of her reach. She also knew somewhere deep down that he had been right though she would never admit it. Kei watched Kary as she cursed her own train of thought and immediately obliterated it. He hadn't been around during the time Ryan had dated his twin and he tried not to pry into her memories but there was something that had left a deep mark on her. As his sister walked out of the castle to keep up her charade of searching for Chris, Kei signaled for Magdelene and Jake to follow him out of the room. Serena and Aaron's fights were rare but when they did get into an argument, he knew not to be there for the making up. Kary perched on one of the tallest tress near the castle. She could feel Kei's thoughts probing her mind, searching for any sign of her wanting him to get her but she wanted to be alone. She was angry at everyone, at Chris for not trusting her, at Aaron for thinking he had a point, at Ryan for showing up when he did, at Kei for not stopping the conversation, and at herself for everything she held deep within her where even Kei had trouble reaching. She wasn't sure where she wanted to go right now or what she wanted to do. Part of her wanted to just run away and disappear to New York. The other part wanted to face Chris. The problem was that if she did see him, it wouldn't be to apologize or to make things right with him, it would be to continue the fight. Her pride allowed for nothing other than that. With a sigh, she took in her surroundings, every tree top below her, the clouds starting to fill the sky as the afternoon rolled in, the sun beginning to change colors, and did something she hadn't done in a really long time. "So what's the plan now?" Jake's words were more of a statement than a question. "I don't think you guys should follow my sisters to college," Kei said matter of factly. "This is their chance to remember what it was like to be normal and you know you won't be any help with that." Magdelene leaned against the wall of the library, watching the exchange between her brother and Jake silently. "I don't want to go to Earth." With that, Kei knew the conversation was over. Jake was the more reserved of the Fladjongo princes and, while he had build a friendship with his brothers, Jake had never given him that opportunity. "I'm gonna go," Jake said abruptly and left the library in a quick stride. "Harsh," Magdelene whistled. "Tell me about it," Kei laughed. But it was cut short and the grin that had risen in his face quickly turned into a frown. "What?" "Kar's about to do something stupid." He didn't elaborate, there was no need. After the fight that had erupted between Kary and Chris as soon as Ryan had walked in, there couldn't be much doubt about what she was going to do. But for Magdelene, who didn't hear thoughts and didn't know the inner workings of everyone's mind, it wasn't that obvious. "What's she going to do?" Kei sighed, shaking his head. It was too late to stop her even if he tried. "She's calling Ryan." |

"Serena," Aaron said again, this time in a whisper, once they were alone. Serena just stared at him, her jaw set and her arm crossed. She wasn't sure why she was mad at Aaron anymore. At first it had been about him defending Chris, then about him reminding her he almost married one of her sisters, but now she could feel the anger leaving her and the rush of adrenaline she had felt, lowering. Aaron took a cautious step toward her, his palms up as if he were dealing with a crazed animal that could attack any second. The image was comical and it was all Serena could do not to laugh. "Serena, love?" Another slow step. He was only about a yard away from her now. His face was taking on the qualities of a sad puppy. A smile broke through the silver haired girl's tight composure and Aaron's eyes filled with relief in return. He closed the space between them with on quick step and took Serena into his arms, wrapping his own around her. "I hate you," she said but her voice was a mixture of amusement and love. "I know," he replied against her ear, the rush of air his words produced making the fine hairs on the back of her neck rise on end. "I love you." Serena smiled again and pulled away from him slightly, giving Aaron permission to kiss her. He bent, touching his lips to her gently. He tried to pull away, to make sure Serena hadn't changed her mind about forgiving him, but she pulled him back, wrapping her arms around her neck and kissing him passionately. "I think," she said against his lips after a while, "that we should check on the others." |

Serena smiled and dropped one hand into Aaron's and the two walked out into the hallway in happy bliss, just in time to hear Kei say She's calling Ryan Serena's happy smile turned into deep concern as she asked her little brother, "What did you say?" Kei and Magdelene turned around to face Serena and Aaron, it was quite obvious the two had walked into something as neither would look them in the eye. Their eyes gravitating towards Aaron and Serena's interlocked hands as a distraction. "All good I'm guessing?" said Kei, already knowing the answer but hoping to change the subject long enough. "Yes in fact" Serena answered for a split second before adding, "Now why don't you tell exactly what's going?" Crap... Kei thought. So much for trying to stay on Serena's good side today "Kei...?" Kei sighed, "Kary is calling Ryan." Aaron and Serena both stared at him, not quite sure what to say besides, "What?!" "Why aren't you trying to stop her??" Aaron said as he pulled out his phone and began dialing Ryan's number. "It's already too late." Magdelene said, repeating Kei's previous words. Everyone looked at Aaron as he held his phone up to his ear. "Damn, it's a busy tone.." He huffed before quickly punching in a text. "I don't understand, why is she calling him?" Serena asked, desperately confused and trying to make sense of the situation, "Was Chris actually right?" Edited by Serenity Astraea Minuette, Jun 27 2013, 10:52 PM.

"Yes... and no..." Kei said, struggling to find a right way to explain the mess in his twin sister's thoughts. "In a way she does love him, not in love but love, and she misses the easiness between them. She doesn't have that with Chris. With Chris she always has to watch her words and actions. With Ryan it was effortless." He paused, searching through the thoughts Kary kept hidden even from herself, guilt settling deep in his stomach as he voiced them. "He's her fallback and she's his." Kei had betrayed Kary by giving out so much private information and the worst part was, he hadn't even done it right. There was no real way to explain the relationship his sister had with Ryan. Even him, seeing it through Kary's perspective, didn't understand it. "I really didn't get that right," he sighed. "It's complicated." He shifted his attention from the room, to the outside of the castle, near the west end where he had last heard Kary's thoughts. He had expected to sense the anger and disappointment she must be feeling toward him but there was nothing. A quick search through the minds of everyone nearby turned up empty. She was gone. "Really complicated," Kei emphasized, deciding not to say anything. |

"How much does a person miss when they're considered cousins for six years, holy crap," muttered Magdelene under her breath as her left hand streaked through her messy red hair, "Suddenly, the bloodshed that surrounds the rise to power in Magix seems a lot more reasonable..." And suddenly, I'm happy that I have been single for all of my life. she continued in her mind, frowning slightly. It wasn't that she didn't understand Kei's explaination. She had had friends back at school that had the same thing a few times. Her phone rung, and she mouthed a sorry to the group as she answered, "Hello... Oh hi Mum! Wait. Wait. CRAP. Yeah, I'll be over in a bit. Yeah, love you too. Be there soon!" She barely had time to spit out a goodbye to the group before both she and her bags dissapperated. |

"I better be heading out too, pretty sure I'm going to have a lot to deal with at home." Aaron sighed, not looking forward to what was waiting for him back in Fladonjo. "Okay, good luck", Serena said, trying to be positive. Aaron gave her a kiss on the head, waved bye to Kei and left. Serena turned back to Kei and a thought crossed her mind"Uh oh, that just reminded me that we were supposed to visit home today to see Mom and Dad before we went to school." As she said this her phone started ringing. "And there's our mother now..." She sighed. She turned away from Kei to answer her phone, talking into the receiver for a few short minutes before hanging up. "Not happy that we're late?" Kei said, knowing full well that was the least of their worries. "I just told her you weren't coming because you're busy but I still have to. Go find Kary and talk some sense into her okay? I really think she's just confused and needs time away from here and all the drama that comes with it. I'll see you later ok?" Serena said, before ruffling Kei's hair like usual and going upstairs to grab her bags. "Serena..?" Kei said hesitantly, debating whether to tell her. Serena stopped on the staircase and turned around, "Yah?" Kei sighed and shook his head, "Nothing..have fun!" "Umm..okay, thanks! Good luck. You're going to need it." She mused before turning away and disappearing up the stairs. |

As soon as he was alone, Kei tried calling Kary. It went straight to voice mail. Her phone was off. Cursing, he ran up the stairs, taking them two at a time, and shot his way into his sister's bedroom. Closing the door behind him, he sat down at the edge of her bed right across from the mirror. He stared at his reflection for what seemed like hours - though Kei knew it had probably been a few minutes - as he thought of all the places his twin sister could have gone and how he could find her. Two years ago, Serena had taken Kary to visit their family - Serena and Kei's adoptive family - back on Earth. Back then they had all been clueless to his relation to the Celestian royal family but the minute he and Kary had seen each other there had been an undeniable connection. The minute he had seen her all his dormant powers had come to life, enabling him to hear thoughts and sense Kary no matter how far away she was. At least that was what he had thought all these years. Since their fateful encounter, they had never really been separated. Every time they had left Celestia they had done it together. Now, however, he was unable to feel her presence and it made him wonder if there was a limit to their connection. Kary! Kei yelled. It was useless. He didn't even know who he was sending the message to. He was simply yelling in his mind, to no one in particular. Kary would never hear it. "I really hate you, Kar," He sighed, staring at himself in the mirror. He and Kary looked alike. He didn't know how Serena had never seen it before. They had the same green eyes and brown hair, the only difference being that both her eyes and hair were a shade lighter. Even so, it was obvious. Even their personalities were eerily alike. On a whim, Kei pulled his cellphone out of his pocket and dialed Ryan's number. "Hey, man," Ryan answered on the first tone. He had been expecting this call. "My sister told you I'd be calling, I'm guessing." "No," he said easily. "but I supposed someone would." Kei laughed, tossing his head back. There were no secrets within the castle. "Is she with you?" "No. I haven't seen her since the scene in your living room -" Kei didn't miss how Ryan was purposely making it clear he hadn't been with Kary - "but she did tell me she wanted to check apartments out in New York." "She's on Earth?" "It'd be my guess." "Alright, dude, thanks." "No problem." The line went dead. Earth. Not a place Kei would expect Kary to be longer than she absolutely had to. Yet again that had probably been the point. She had wanted to be alone, after all. Eath was the last place anyone would think to look for her. "Well too bad, Kar, 'cause I'm coming to get you." He stood, gathering his power, feeling it flow through him. The shot of adrenaline that flowed through him as his body became aware of the magic in him giving him a thrill. He could see his green eyes starting to shine neon before he closed them, a rush of air whipping around him. When he opened his eyes again, he was standing in Time's Square. |

"Mr and Mrs Corentine?" the man paused just long enough to see their slight nod before looking at the auburn haired girl in front of them, "And Magdelene as well?" Magdelene bit back a growl. She hated the name. Hated, hated, hated. The only people who ever called her that... Well, come to think of it, only her birth parents did. And her siblings did too, sometimes. She never minded as much when they did, or when Duke called her that either. Mags, Maggie, and Lynne (her brother would be ticked if she would forget //that// nickname) were the three main names she actually responded to, when people decided to call her by her name. Most people just looked at her and spoke. 18 years in, she learned to deal with it. "You're on the third floor in Higbie Hall... Room 394, to be exact." Maggie grinned as the key was handed to her, "Here is your key... And your roommate should be up in your room already. Lunch is going to be on the north side of both Gidbie and Zimmermann Halls from 11-1. There's going to be an ice cream social and goodbyes from 3:30 to 4:30, and then you, parents, will go bye-bye," her father flinched ever-so-slightly and glared at the man, but the actions weren't noticed as he continued on, "And then after the parents leave, there's a leave at 4:30, group gatherings at 5, supper from 5:30 to 6:30, a volleyball match at 7:30, candlelight ceremony at 9, and then games for the rest of the night... Have fun!" Magdelene and her parents left, walking to her new home until break. "Maggie, dear, you don't have to do this if you don't want to... There are a bunch of oth-" started the Queen of Magix, trailing off as Magdelene shook her head. The trio quickly made their way to the room. Magdelene opened it, and quickly took in all the posters on the wall before waving to the brunette sitting on the bed across from her own. "You have a giant poster of Seto freaking Kaiba. You are now my new best friend." |

The minute he arrived in New York, Kary's presence hit him like a tidal wave, confirming his theory that there was a limit to how far their powers could reach. Separate Dimensions was definitely it. Kar, He sent and started off in the direction he could feel her from, like a dog following a scent. Kei had never been to City of Dreams before and despite movies, he had not been ready for the amount of people pushing their way through the streets. Calling his twin names in his mind, he quickly gave up on trying to take in his surroundings and wove his way through the crowds. Kary Alarice!! He tried again, his anger growing. He bumped into a man dressed in a custom tailored suit and Berlutis who gave him an annoyed look as he brushed his arm, as if Kei had dirtied his suit. I found an amazing two bedroom. 515 72nd East Street, Kei! You have to see it!! Everyone is worried SICK about you, Kary. Kei hopped into a taxi and repeated the address Kary had given him. No one even knows I'm gone. Thanks for that, by the way. They're all angry. So am I for that matter. Then only reason I'm going to see that apartment is because I'm gonna be living in it too. I needed time alone. She spoke matter of factly and it bugged him. As if he didn't already know she was lying. As if if didn't show in her thoughts. Alone? That's what you call being with Ryan? Because she had been with Ryan, even if he had denied it. She had gone to him and it was him that had suggested she get a head start in picking a place to live. You have NO right to be in my mind. You're being stupid, Kary. A reasonable person doesn't go off calling his sister's boyfriend every time she has a problem. We're friends. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Friends? That's what you call your booty call? We haven't done anything, Kei! But you wanted it to. But I wouldn't. Kei sighed but he didn't say anything. If he didn't cool off he would say something he'd regret later. The Taxi took a turn onto 1st avenue. I wouldn't. I didn't say anything. I know. But I wouldn't. Who are you trying to convince? He felt Kary hesitate, trying to find the right words. I don't have feelings for him, Kei. I'm attracted to him, sure. But I don't have feelings for him. I don't know why I go to him. Maybe because I know there's nothing serious there. I know he loves Loralei. I love Chris. I was with him before I knew I have to marry him. It's just...the minute I knew I HAD to... I know how you feel, Kar. I wouldn't want to be pressured into anything either. And I've always rebelled against everything I've ever been told to do. Even when I knew it was the right thing. I don't know. It's in my nature. I can't help it. It'll be okay, Kar. Kei looked out the window. They were crossing East 57th. "Can you hurry? I have to be somewhere fast." The taxi driver grunted a response and the car sped up. I don't want to ruin things. Kary's voice was a whisper in his head, tinged by tears that were threatening to overcome her. Then stop sabotaging things. I... "We're here," the driver's words sounded in Kei's ears. Kei tossed the man a hundred bill and got out of the car. He took a quick look at the luxury building Kary had chosen before stepping inside and going straight to the last floor. His sister would choose nothing less that the most expensive condo. The elevator opened straight into the furnished 34th floor apartment. He didn't bother calling for his sister. He knew exactly where she was. He opened one of the doors and found Kary sitting on the bathroom floor, head in her hands, tears streaking her face. He sat down next to her and pulled her into his arms. They sat there like that for a while until Kary ran out of tears and even then he made no effort to move her away from him. It was Kary who pulled away with an apologetic smile and puffy red eyes. "I'm sorry," she said. Kei shook his head and unconsciously ruffled Kary's hair the way Serena did to him. "I love the condo." "It's amazing right?" Kary beamed. "It's everything I wanted from New York. It has a spa for freak's sake. We don't even have that in Celestia." "Well it is the Upper East Side. I admit I expected nothing less. And you already bought it so we don't have to worry about that. Lets go home." "I got it because I knew you'd like it," she said chagrined. "And yeah. Let's go home." But as Kary began the teleportation, Kei just shook his head because he knew she would have gotten the place anyway. |

Fiona Abellio grinned, looking over at the poster in question as the newcomer spoke, "How could I NOT have a picture of the Kaibaman in my room?" Her parents, wishing to leave, said goodbye to Fiona, hugged Magdelene, and left. "It's in the rules, I'm certain." said Magdelene, grinning. "SCREW THE RULES, I HAVE MONEY!" cried Fiona, laughing. "SCREW THE MONEY, I HAVE RULES! Wait, let me try that again..." "Dude, you are so totally my best friend now." "Definitely. You're the first person I know to like both Yugioh and the abridged." "And the children's card game." "Oh. My. Money. YOU LIKE THE GAME TOO?!" "Don't you mean God?" "You worship your thing, I'll worship mine." "And, yes, I do actually play. I have four brothers and they were obsessed with the game for as long as I can remember." "What's your deck?" "Whatever kind of deck Yugi has originally. I also have a dino deck and a gravekeeper's deck, but my main-main deck is Yugi-ish. Yours?" "Fire kings. When I just just learning to play, a friend of mine gave me a few of his cards to buff up my deck... One was Monster Reborn." "I still can't believe they banned that." "I know! I was looking at the banned list recently because I was thinking about entering some tournaments, and I saw it and I was so mad. The one card he gave me that was always going to be useful was banned. I was so friggin ticked." "Every time I rewatch the original series I always point out every banned card they play." "Monster reborn, brain control, change of heart..." "Want to watch some Abridged?" "Hells yes." And so, the honey blonde and the ginger watched some Yugioh Abridged, because shut up. |
