This is by far my favorite reading source so far. This is an excerpt from a pulpy ghost fiction novel intended for teenagers entitled 鬼吹灯.

In this installment our main character (or, the grandfather of who becomes the main character later) meets a new friend as things start to look bleakest. A rat, about the size of a cat, which he has a huge amount of common ground with; they both enjoy opium.

Hope that sparks your appetite for at least this installment. If you like it, read the first two and truck on with the book. Just don’t get caught up in all of the historical language!
