1 Timothy 5:11-15
KJV 11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry; 12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. 13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. 14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.

1 Timothy 5:11-15New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

11 But refuse to put younger widows on the list; for when their sensual desires alienate them from Christ, they want to marry, 12 and so they incur condemnation for having violated their first pledge. 13 Besides that, they learn to be idle, gadding about from house to house; and they are not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not say. 14 So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, and manage their households, so as to give the adversary no occasion to revile us. 15 For some have already turned away to follow Satan.

11 This may seem odd but Paul gives the reason why, the church is unable to up keep everyone. If they are at a young age they very likely would want to remarry, if they marry they are no longer just widows but are again brides.

12 They should not have conflict with the church because they want to remarry and not dedicate all their time to the church as they would if they had no family. Their first pledge refers to the Lord. The Lord should always come first.

13 Youth often brings things that go away once one matures, using youth or those younger has its risks, Paul also encouraged Timothy even though he was young, there are exceptions but this is just a precaution that is taken.

14 When you are younger you are still able to remarry and bear children so Paul is saying encourage them to do this, if it is the will of the Lord they not remarry and serve the church nothing will stop them.

15 After a childhood independence often leaves to a life turning to God. Most people who grow up in church often stop while in college and only choose to go back after having children of their own. If they stay in church after their independence and stay dedicated to God after then they were truly serious about God.
