This roleplay forum is based off of White Wolf's New World of Darkness tabletop RPG series. Most of you have probably played before, but if not, the general setting is modern day supernatural horror. A good lore reference is the wiki: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:World_of_Darkness Try to focus on the lore, rather than gameplay aspects when making your characters. Overall, be fair, be creative, and have fun! Use the following template. Name: Your name is not "DARKSLASH KILLMAN." Age: Keep it reasonable if you're human. Obviously, you're not going to be 200, nor are you going to be an 8 year old hunter. Race: This should be obvious. Type: (If un-human, specify. E.g, what type of vampire, lycanthrope, etc.) Height: Duh Weight: Duh Concept: Example: Loose-cannon cop, vampire socialite, curious occultist, rabid cult leader... Likes: Be creative Dislikes: Again, be creative Personality: Just enough to understand your character. No need for anything too detailed. Abilities: Keep them fair. You're not perfect, even if you are a supernatural being. Equipment: Keep in mind the setting. This is New Orleans 2014, so you're probably not carrying around a bastard sword if you're a journalist. Biography: Write a nice paragraph here. Killable?- Yes or no ***Some more rules*** 1. After you finish creating a character, do not make any posts until you have been given the official seal of approval. You'll know what that looks like. 2. We're okay with y'all using myths and legends to provide a basis for your character, but please do not blatantly rip off a preexisting character from another universe. 3. Do not use NPCs from the WoD core books. 4. You ARE permitted to use your RP character from the tabletop campaign. However, what happens on the forums will not affect what happens in the tabletop campaign. 5. Be original. No Mary Sues. 6. If your character does not get approved the first time, we will work with you in private to ensure that the proper adjustments are made. Please do not take it personal, we're here to help! 7. Multiple characters are allowed, but make sure that you use different colored text so that we may distinguish them. Remember, ask questions if you must, but not on this page. PM us. DAMIEN CROWSHAW Age: 20 when turned, actual age is about 34 Race: White Type: Toreador Vampire (Incubus) Height: 5’7 Weight: 140 lbs. Concept: Hipster Vampire Likes: Dogs, Subway, legal people, graffiti, body jewelry, and flannel shirts Dislikes: Cats, wristwatches, police officers, art museums, and most people under 18 Personality: He acts very laid back, with a charming smile. He gives off an air of youthful idealizations, but knows more than he lets on, having to play the part of a 20 year old. He is prone to out burst against people he knows better, acting as if his life is tortured, when he is just as petty as the teenagers he harps on. He’s a pain in the ass to anyone who’s know him for longer than a week, but less than a month. Abilities: Damiens a charming street artist, but has the powers of any vampire of his breed. He has strength and agility, only accented by his ability to skateboard. He has street smarts, which is a fancy way of saying he's a college drop out, and his blood is decently potent. Damien can transform people into servants, as any vampire can by feeding a person their blood, but the control he has over them is meager as best, as he hasn't honed the talent. Does being sexy count? Weaknesses (oh boy, are there a lot): Being stabbed by wood offers a pretty hard time fore vampires Being lit on fire will kill him. Ripping off his head will kill him. Sun light will REALLY kill him! Like, a nonthreatening summers breeze will probably kill a vampire... Not to mention Damien's a Toreador and can be immobilized by looking at stuff he thinks if pretty, which is the main reason he hate art museums, because he has to convince himself the artwork is bad. Equipment: He has new brand of skateboard every week, at least three shirts at any given time, regardless of time or temperature, a can of GOLD spray paint, and a small collection of pocketknives. Appearance: Damien looks like a beanie wearing hipster, hair cut and all. He has several piercings in his ears, and even dermal implants on his tongue, making it appear spiked. He has large burn marks on his forearms, and wears heavy clothing to cover his skin from the sun. Biography: Life’s hard when you’re a middle class white guy with enough friends to be social, and enough drive to attempt to be talented. It really does suck with your only flaw is an inability to be modest, and that temper, and your overzealous dismissal of anyone who could even stand to be around you. Damien knows that feeling very well. Before he was transformed his life was easy, so easy he had to make up reasons to be sad, or would have to say he was lonely, and to add some extra spice he would pretend like his home life was bad, when I reality it was normal as well. Damien grew to live up to his name, as the spawn of Satan. He was an art school dropout and lived with his parents until he was too old to bother and moved on to the street. He was a gold digger, though, and his envious greedy tendency’s shined through with the woman he found himself with. Damien is a heavy sleeper. His lover at the time transformed in into a vampire while he slept, and he awoke in such a hungry rage that he pushed her out a window, in broad daylight, where she burned to a crisp, he also has large burns on his forearms from the exposure. His Sire was an 8th generation, meaning he’s a 9th, generation, who has done enough favours to be popular in his clan, but has not become a high ranking member. Though he is rather attached to his clan, he is still a drifter. Damien makes money through vampiric prostitution, where vessels pay him to drink their blood, and his job as an information broker. He spend his leisure time loitering and being a general nuisance. Perhaps his time as a vampire has changed his attitude, but who would even bother to find out? He's just a selfish twenty year old... right... Right? Killable: Yes… No… Kinda? He’s a vampire and more durable, but can be killed. ![]()

Name: Gary Stue Age: 41 Race: White Type: Schizophrenic Human Height: 5'9 Weight: 200 Concept: Example: Crazy accountant Likes: The song of the earth mother, Ballad of KokoPelli, Country-western music Dislikes: Cars, indie music, outlaws Personality: Believes he is the sheriff of New Texas Abilities: Great at wrastlin, rope tricks, horse riding Equipment: 6-shooter, lasso, full sheriff costume, horse Biography: Gary was a good child. Listened to his parents, did his chores, ate his veggies, and even did well in school. He was the perfect kid with a perfect life. Well, at least until he started hearing things. It started off with nothing more than hushed whispers that no one else could hear. This went on until he hit puberty when the voices became clearer and louder. Things spiraled out of control from there as his grip on reality broke down till there was nothing but the voices telling him of the horrors that were coming. He began living in constant fear, too afraid to leave the safety of his room. But one day, while huddled in fear, he found a small plastic figure beneath his bed. It was his old favorite action hero, BraveStarr. As a child he loved watching BraveStarr save the day. No matter the odds, BraveStarr would save everyone. Gary wanted that. He wanted nothing more than that. He clutched the figure tight to his chest and hoped. And the voices grew quiet. For the first time in a long time, the voices didn't frighten him. From then on he kept BraveStarr by his heart always. Day and night, day after day he kept his little guardian with him. Able to live normally again, he went to college and graduated with an accounting degree. Got himself a job, married a plain woman and had 2.5 kids. The real American dream. Until the night he met with the supernatural. When a vampire encountered Gary and his family, his entire family gets killed in front of him. He snaps, and his mind snaps making him believe he IS BraveStarr. One dead vampire later, the town of New Orleans had gained itself a new protector. Killable?- Yes

Name: Johnathan "The Vizier" Daniels Age: 21 Race: Human Type: Acanthus Mage (Fate/Time) Height: 5'8" Weight: 174 lbs Concept: Nerdy Fortune Teller Likes: Mana (Mountain Dew), Sustenance (Prime Ribs and Steaks), DnD (3.5 only), PC Gaming. Dislikes: Dirty Console Gaming peasants, 4.0 Apologists/Sympathizers, cheapskates, cheap skates, the term 'neckbeard'. Personality: You ever seen that guy who had so much potential, and then got hooked into Warhammer or some MMORPG too early? You're basically looking at him. An imaginative man who believes his powers were grafted upon him for some grand purpose of changing the world, only to use said powers for a barely-functional fortune telling gig. Typically someone who pretends he's important, and seemingly skirts away from actual important decisions if he feels the odds aren't in his favor. Outwardly arrogant and proud, inwardly waiting for that next big break. Abilities:* General - Nimbus of Time and Fate: When casting a spell, a series of images form around the caster based on the style of spell being cast, the caster's personality, and the type of spell being cast. "BEHOLD! I, the Vizier, shall behold unto you a mighty weapon! This weapon is...a clock? Erh. YES. THE CLOCK OF TIME'S GRACES! This instrument moves into the future at a constant rate of one unit per second. As long as you hold onto it, YOU TOO can travel through time!" Fate - Called Shots: May temporarily bestow minor outcomes to others. Alternatively may create a shield of minor luck around himself, potentially causing bullets to hit another target (or just miss entirely) for a short time. "Hey check this out, that guy on the roof? Totally going to screw up his jump and fall down. OH! All twelve stories? Daaaaaaamn." - Lady Luck's Business Card: Able to create or influence plausible events within the realm of Fate, bestowing exceptional luck or minor curses. Events influenced by this remain within what is reasonably likely, such as a machine functioning in the desired fashion for a small amount of time. "I know you said it's a two-faced coin, but I'm pretty sure it's tails....See? I'm always right, now hand over the cash and I'll show you another one...." - Gambler's Oath: A literal oath that is mentally signed to grant the caster strength of spirit and greater willpower when the situation demands it, at the cost of poor fortune when the oath is broken. "Please, you can't beat me at my own game! Now put the gun down, the next one has a bullet in it....And of course, no one listens to me." - Conditional Cooldown: Able to extend the cooldown of a spell at the cost of reducing the same spell's cooldown at a later date. "Yes yes, I'll peer into the future! I see....A door. Yes! A door! The door behind you...you will exit it. Ooooooooooooh. N-no, no refunds." Time - Watcher's Watch: May bestow perception of simple outcomes (up to two possible outcomes) to others. May alternatively look into a more detailed outcome of a single simple action. "That gun is actually jammed, it will likely not fire....Okay correction, it won't fire accurately. Hey, you're not dead, it all worked out!" - Psychometry: Able to discern a held object's past with precision and accuracy. "Hey wait a minute what the hell? You two did WHAT on my table?" - Repentant Reflection: Forms a shield to protect against divinations that affect the past and future on himself. Alternatively casts a literal shield to speed himself up or slow down an opponent. "Abort me...from time? C'mon lady it's just business..." - Metacognitive Magic: May prepare a single spell out of combat to be instantaneously triggered at will when desired. "Do you guys hear that? That....Yes...that is the sound of forgiveness." Equipment: Robe and Wizard Hat, it's really a rotted cape made out of some old blankets and quilts that came with a kid's witch hat that might have been used for Halloween some decade ago. "Grimoire" which actually just makes for a half-decent journal. Biography: Within the deep, late night-life that makes up most of Bourbon Street's business, there lies many regrets and memories from sober people who were totally there. It was never too uncommon to see folks in their drunken stupor 'mark their territory' on various objects around the city at the whim of a dare. So when J. D. had appropriately peed out some semblance of his name with the last of the actual J. D. still in his system, he had appeared to trigger his own Awakening. At first, the rush of every object and every action that could come from that object seemed like a crazy dream caused from the whiskey's quick consumption, but it turned out to be far more. A few days following the Awakening, Johnathan Daniels began returning to the club and seating himself near poker tables to try his luck at some get-rich-quick scheme. He wasn't usually the one to bet or do anything beyond his safety net of things his mother would't do, but the thought of rising to fame as a poker star burned his passions for the fleeting amount of time his attention span had, allowing him to start quickly calling out who was going to win. A few wild guesses thrown in the air caught him some bank, which is when he decided to start actually playing the game. Repeated months of showing up to Thursday Night Poker and Friday Night Magic started to show his 'natural talent' of being extremely lucky in some cases, but not enough to prove that he may have been cheating. When Johnathan had saved enough money, he decided he was going to spend it all on his life dream: Owning his own business. His profession? Fortune Telling. Obviously not the most lucrative choice, but one with seemingly the best schedule for someone as apathetic as he who actually attends Friday Night Magic when there's partying to be had on Bourbon Street. The business began with some of his poker buddies asking if they should go hard in on the bets that night, where the new CEO of 'The Vizier's Enclave' would roll random dice and draw tarot cards in hopes that his magic would somehow turn the cards into whatever it is the guy wanted to see. Unfortunately, The Vizier couldn't actually be damned to research what Tarot Cards actually mean, so he ended up looking at the picture and essentially describing what he interpreted to be what was depicted, often attempting to force luck onto his client regardless if his predictions were correct or not. Thus, business had already started to take a turn for the worst, with less and less people showing up for predictions, and more customers or tourists simply visiting just to say that they did. By now, The Vizier's Enclave stands as a rotted Katrina survivor far away from most cool stuff in the French Quarter, effectively branded as one of the only occupied buildings in the whole section of 'creepy town', where nearly everything else is boarded up. Johnathan spends his time practicing his fairly limited grasp on magic, mostly utilizing it to try and get free meals and pinch more pennies. Killable?- Very. (*I'm so sorry none of the spells for Apprentice have any names, it's just one long paragraph describing what's possible at that level, so I made up the names. They're lame on purpose.)

Name: Isaac Benson Age: 22 Race: Vampire/White Type: Malkavian Height: 5'9" Weight: 140 lbs Concept: Timid vampire in denial Likes: Computers, books, cats, quiet spaces Dislikes: Loud spaces, action movies, guns, vampires Personality: Quiet and pretty timid when he's uncomfortable. He can be a bit of a snark, and usually is thinking something differently than what he says. Due to his wide variety of mental derangments, his personality is very unpredictable, and he tends to grow more and more unstable as time progresses. Desperate to be human, he'll even go as far as use vitae, the resource for all blood magics, to even appear to look normal and breathe like a normal person, though this requires more frequent feeding. He'd never identify with what he really is, a monster, and would do anything to be a normal human being again. When confronted on who he really is, his personality and actions become unpredictable, and he loses self control, even going as far as attacking the person responsible for making him think of being a monster. Abilities: As a Malkavian, he uses insanity as a tool. Though he never means to use these abilities, he can amplify emotions others are feeling, temporarily shove his own mental illnesses on others, and can even remove mental ilnesses of others, as long as he shares the same one, inflict maddening visions on people, provoke extreme fear or anger on others with his voice, and can even twist a person's personality to resemble his own. These can be resisted though, and he usually never does them on purpose. Also, as a vampire, he's naturally stronger, quicker, and more agile than humans. Though vampires fear fire, and the sun is their bane. And a stake to the heart will paralyze them until removed. Equipment: Thick hoodie, thin leather gloves, sunglasses. Whatever he needs to use to hide from the sun in the daytime. Biography: Isaac was Embraced recently, and is still largely in denial about being a vampire. His most definative derangement is Banish the Beast, something that causes him to resist the beast inside of him to his dying breath. Though that isn't his only derangement. As time progresses, he developes more and more, becoming true to a Malkavian. His derangements thus far are as follows: Banish the Beast Anxiety Bipolar disorder Manic Depression Obsessive/Compulsive Paranoia Hallucinations Delivering Warnings Psychotic Tendencies And even Multiple Personality disorder in rare occasions. Though being a vampire makes it nigh impossible to travel freely during the day, he's managed to find a way to travel while wearing thick clothing that covers every part of the skin from the sun. Working as a computer programmer from home, he's able to afford the apartment that he alone resides. He doesn't particularly have much friends, but sometimes he prefers it that way. He's aware of how unstable he is, but blames it entirely on the Embrace. Though Malkavians tend to prefer to Embrace humans who are already partly mentally unstable. But he'll never know that, right? Killable?: Yes, though vampires are not easy to kill.

Name: Dean Winchester Age: 27 Race: Human Height: 6'1 Weight: 175 Concept: A great hunter brought into the life through family legacy but the life is chipping away at him ever since his dad disappeared. He wishes he didn't have to hunt alone but he doesn't trust the skills of anyone except for his brother who also went missing. Dean is known for handling a large number of weaponry, and his signature looks are black shoes, a dark leather jacked and dark shirts with dark blue jeans. He is also known for driving a signature black 1967 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe, in which he occasionally sleeps in and he has a huge stash of guns in the trunk. Likes: PIE!, his Impala(car), Classic rock, crude humor, family, DR. Sexy M.D.(tv show), Saving people, kicking deamon ass, strippers, Lisa Braeden, Dislikes: Flying with a passion, Cats(allergies), Rock paper scissors(Dean Always Loses Whenever He Plays with Sam as he always chooses scissors), Personality: From an early age, he was trained by his father John Winchester to hunt down and kill things of the supernatural. However, unlike his brother Sam, he shows no resentment toward his father for being "raised like a warrior." He seems to prefer "the hunt" to the possibility of a normal life. He is also the only one allowed to call his brother "Sammy". Abilities: Dean is a skilled and highly resourceful hunter. He is well-versed with multiple types of firearms; he prefers his Colt 1911 and sawed-off shotgun, but is proficient with most other weapons he might acquire. He is also adept with brawling and knife fighting, and has subdued several human assailants with ease and bested physically more powerful creatures such as shapeshifters, vampires and demons. Dean also possesses extensive knowledge of the supernatural and mythology as he has been in the family buisnuess of hunting since he was 11. Dean's work as a hunter requires him to impersonate various occupational roles in pursuing his investigations and avoid the attention of law-enforcement. To this end Dean is well-versed in how police, fire departments and various government agencies (FBI, CDC) typically operate and conduct investigations. In supporting this lifestyle, Dean is also skillful in lock picking, breaking into security systems, carjacking and hustling for pool. Dean is also an accomplished mechanic and maintained an intimate knowledge of automobiles and engines since childhood; he maintains his Impala in top condition. Equipment: Dean's weapon of choice is a stainless and custom engraved .45 caliber Colt MK IV Series 80 1911 pistol with ivory grips. Dean also uses a Baikal sawed-off, double barrel, break action shotgun when he needs extra firepower. His machete is a go to for beheading vampires but he has a trunk full of equipment. (Deans trunk) http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa463/Harlequinn99/Weaponsbox.jpg Appearance: Brown hair, Green eyes, Dean wears an amulet which Sam gave him as a kid, He sports a MTM-Special Ops Watch, He also has a small black tattoo on the upper left side of his chest which blocked his body from being possessed, Biography: Dean Winchester was born on January 24, 1979 to John and Mary Winchester in Lawrence, Kansas. He is the couple's first child, four years older than his younger brother, Sam. He is named after his maternal grandmother, Deanna Campbell. On November 2, 1983, Mary was killed in Sam's nursery by the demon Azazel, and in the ensuing fire Dean was tasked with carrying Sam out to safety while John unsuccessfully tried to rescue Mary. Since then, Dean has felt responsible for Sam and was always given the job to take care of him while they were growing up. John began investigating the cause of Mary's death and in that course learned about the supernatural and the people who hunted them. John became a hunter himself, and trained Dean to be one as well, though both hid the supernatural from Sam until he was 8 years old. The Winchesters constantly moved around the country, living in motels and the homes of John's hunter friends. Dean had a large hand in raising Sam due to John's constantly being away to hunt. When Dean was 16, he was arrested for stealing and spent time in a boy's home where he had the opportunity to go to a regular school, though eventually Dean chose to return to John and Sam. Killable?- Pfft, just try it[/color] ![]() ![]() Edited by supermark, May 13 2014, 12:46 AM.

He loves the night life that New Orleans has to offer, yet he seems to enjoy the comforts of his home such as his b-movie collection and the internet. Overall, he's a generally laid back sort of guy and prefers not to be in the spotlight. His journalistic integrity tells him that his only job to record and document, never to interfere. However, when confronted with danger, Trey is not hesitant to use force to protect himself. Abilities: Writing, film editing, videography/photography, shooting Equipment: Camera bag, night vision camcorder, thermal camera, S&W M&P .40 (15+1) Biography: Trey was born in Spring, Texas to a middle-class family. He had a fairly regular upbringing and eventually joined the Army at the age of 20 after completing two years at HCC. While in the Army, Trey was a public affairs broadcasting specialist. In 2010, he was deployed to Kabul Province, Afghanistan, where he was attached to an infantry unit as a combat videographer. He returned to his post at Fort Polk, LA in 2011 and separated from service the same year. After separation, he moved to New Orleans where he became a videographer for a local news station. It was during the 2012 coverage of what was thought to be a recent rash of animal attacks that he was called to the Vigil. Trey was actually driving his truck on the way back from a shoot when he hit a large bipedal creature dead on. The creature ran away as he wrested the air bag from his face. Trey quickly got out of the truck to investigate. Bloody tracks of what appeared to be a large wolf lead into the forest. While inspecting the damage of his truck, he found two mangled human fingers caught in the grill. After some extensive research, he eventually came across information on the Uratha, a society of lycanthropes, from the hunter's compact Network Zero. Within the next two years went, Trey eventually became more involved with Network Zero, even starting up his own blog on the supernatural. Now, Trey works independently as an investigative journalist, selling his stories to tabloids and hunter's groups devoted to community defense. Trey has thought about joining these more combative hunter's groups, however he finds uncovering the truth to be much more fulfilling than battling it. Killable?- Yes

KANEDA KATO (nickname Kat) Age: 17 Race: Japanese American Type: Nyan Changeling (cat kid) Height: 5'1 Weight: 92 Concept: A Neko Likes: Soft instrumental music, small animals, ice cream, silent films Dislikes: Dogs, americanized food, loud voices, slimy bugs, cold weather Personality: Kato is soft spoken and doesn't have much of a presence upon first encounter. Kato's very cat-like even in human from, going as far as to occasionally meow, and act embarrassed afterwords. Talking isn't much of a pass time, preferring to spend time reading or lounging in warm places. Kato gives off the vibe of a cute but quiet school girl. Abilities: Kato can turn into a cat at will. (duh) Kato is faster and stronger than an average human, with advanced hearing as well. Forging the Dream - by touching temples with another person, Kato can craft dreams and nightmare for people. Reflections of the Past - Kato can look into a mirror and see what was reflected there in the past week. This is a difficult task and requires a large amount of energy, usually leaving the kid drained afterwards. Shadowpatch - If Kato has spent 15 minutes in darkness, the cat can be totally obscured by it. Weaknesses: Kato has the body of a little girl. You could give the changeling a weird look and it would fall over. Kato is very shy, and not open to new situations, often missing opportunities to be brave. The changeling had been cut off from the world of Fae and knows very little about their magics and how they work, not fulling understanding it's own powers. Being kicked across a room. Equipment: Very rarely anything of value, because clothing has to be abandoned upon turning into what looks to be a calico cat. Biography: Changelings are a breed of Fae that are placed into a human child when it is born. Growing up in a large city Kato's parents we not versed in the ways of Fairies and had their child ripped from them without even knowing. Even while the young changeling was small Kato seemed more intelligent than the children at school, but in this day and age no one thought it was odd, and just assumed Kato was another smart asian girl. growing up Kato was always the odd one out, not wanting play with other children and spending a lot of time as a cat, rather than a human, unbeknownst to mom and dad. The cat's parents are nice enough, but also very belligerent. There are nights where the yelling never seems to stop, though Kato never took blame for the fights, they were always present, leading the cat to seek an escape through magic, become engrossed with unexplainable powers. This shaped who Kato grew up to be, a quiet and soft spoken kid, who only like conversations with adults, cats, and creatures of myth. Now living as a slight social outcast the shy Kato is living alone, but is still happy, only occasionally getting mixed up with the monsters that hide in the city of mystery.
