Usually I'd put this up in the Senate, but the VOIP server is used by everyone. Therefore I want to take into account everyone (who votes') preferences as to what VOIP we'd like to use. Over the years I've used Skype, TS3, Vent and Mumble. I have no particular preference, but obviously Skype is free, and TS3 is our current set-up. The current subscription runs out on the 24th September (next Monday), so I'd like to know what people would prefer to continue with before renewing/switching to a service. My personal preference is either to stay with TS3 or switch to Skype. Skype has its difficulties in that push-to-talk can be irritating with many people, is a bit more personal, and doesn't have the *hub* feeling with regard to channels and such. Anyway, please vote/comment asap so that I have an idea what everyone wants before proceeding. N.B. It's multi-vote so if you have preference for a couple but don't care which you can vote for several. For example: TS3/Skype or TS3/Vent. Thanks. |

I'm not sure if u know, but I found out recently. In a group in skype u can actually promote/demote people to MASTER/HELPER/USER/LISTENER and put up a link on the for example forums and give that group password protection (in case u're considering skype as an option). just type /help and skype will give you a lot of commands, or check here https://support.skype.com/en-us/faq/fa10042/what-are-chat-commands-and-roles Example: a group I created, skype:?chat&blob=ObmUQemqCLQwCfA5YJVSYEKN2gCUqqFmTqsOEORHYIx9W9l3PAaxVFcvi0SdxGTg Password: Clan d (im not entirely sure how to use the link, but copy-paste the link in skype and send to some1 and then it should be clickable) Edited by nevvb, Sep 20 2012, 10:36 AM.

I'd prefer TS3 or VT. Skype is excellent for playing with friends casually, but if you are going to be competitive I think it's annoying to hear someones little brother or mom in the background + all the clicking on the keyboard etc. So I'd prefer the ones where you talk when you talk and don't hear all the background voice. |

skype still sucks, forcing the volume of everything else to be low when you are in a conversation is plain bullshit. It should be a free choice |
