I think someone over the weekend was looking for a new PC spec at an affordable price, so here is my recommendation and the reasons why... All from Dabs, so the codes are here too... Graphics Card - This card represents the best bang per buck right now, don;t even think of putting a crappy 8600GT in... Asustek GeForce 9600GT 512MB PCIE DUAL DVI quicklinx:507PWS | Mfr#:9600GTHTDI512 In stock now £112.04 £112.04 Motherboard - supports cheaper DDR2 memory and also DDR3 for future proofing, has a 1,333Mhz FSB support to take advantage of the Core2Duo's 1,333Mhz FSB, and I love ASUS motherboards... Asustek S775 Intel P35 ATX GLAN quicklinx:4QNWWS | Mfr#:P5KC In stock now £74.89 £74.89 Processor - Got to be a Core2Duo, this is a great mid-range one... Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 S775 2.66ghz 4mb Cache 1333FSB quicklinx:4MMCWS | Mfr#:BX80557E6750 In stock now £118.34 £118.34 Memory - generic memory, you can go more expensive and get faster but this is about right and a good balance for the rest of the kit... Crucial CT2KIT12864AA667 2x1GB PC2-5300 NonECC CL5 quicklinx:3R5LWS | Mfr#:CT2KIT12864AA66 In stock now £28.02 £28.02 delivery (3.183kg) £7.00 total (inc VAT) £340.29 There you go, £340, all you have to do now is install your old operating system Windows XP (I have Vista but frankly there is little point in lashing out if you have a copy of XP that will become redundant after you throw away your PC). Plug your monitor(s) keyboard and mouse in, load of DOW and you are ready to rock with a great gaming PC. If you want to go a bit better, you can put a faster processor in (I have a Core2Duo E6850 which is about £170) and you could also put in an Nvidia 8800GTS graphics card for £170 or an 8800GTX (mine) for £225 thumbs |

Good point about not throwing anything away. Depending on ur case size though i would consider upgrading to something larger for better airflow. Im not great on prices atm but they look god to me. |

Make sure you have a decent Power Supply Unit, your old one wont be up to it, hold on...I will specify one for you... OCZ Technology StealthXStream 600W Active PFC In stock now quicklinx: 4L2WWS mfr#: OCZ600SXS-UK £47.25 inc vat that should do the trick You will need a decent case with plenty of airflow, your current one may do but if it doesnt, you can find a case on Dabs - wait, i will get you one... This Antec Nine Hundred/Ultimate Gamer Case no PSU In stock now quicklinx: 49XSWS mfr#: NINE HUNDRED EU £69.78 inc vat or this... Akasa Zen-Black Silent Midi ATX Case In stock now quicklinx: 49R2WS mfr#: AK-ZEN01V2-BK £30.30 inc vat Thats a bout it, I hope you have a nice flat panel monitor.... keyboard and mouse - go for Lgitech G15 k/b and G5 mouse if you can afford em, they rock!!! Operating system - use your old Windows XP, and when you are ready to build it all, msg me and I will walk you through it all..... thumbs |
