Why Tifa is my fav

Tifa has always captured my attention ever since I first saw her. I have always been captivated by her, her looks, her personality, and then her voice.

Then seeing Tifa kick the shit out of Loz, holy crap this girl is a superhero to me.

My fav 3 girls are Lightning, Yuna and Tifa, but Tifa has always been my favorite of all time.

She gets called overrated, and my personal favorite "I hate Tifa because of her fanbase who ignore her flaws and make her out to be perfect"

I love Tifa because she's FAR from perfect.

What do Lightning, Yuna, and Tifa all have in common? They all keep their true feelings to themselves, they all have very demure attitudes, and they all put others before themselves.

Lightning - She had to take care of her sister when she was 15 and her parents died. Lightning forced herself to grow up in order to ensure Serah would have everything she needs, and this shows in the girls attitudes. It's obvious Serah has been taken care of, and the stress Lightning is under because of it is clear. Lightning comes off as very jaded and bitter, but it turns out she's a big sensitive sweetheart underneath her tough exterior. After she lost Serah, it's clear Lightning didn't know what to do, but she didn't give up, she just kept moving even though she had no idea wtf she's do, or why she should do this. She just keeps going.

Yuna - Oh Yuna, Yuna, Yuna. This demure little thing. Yuna is a bit like Lightning, minus the jaded part. Yuna carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, and had high expectations set by her father, and also by her namesake (named after Yunalesca) and yet she remains so kind and welcoming even to Tidus who is a complete stranger to her. Yuna has also been shown to be scary, standing up to people and willing to beat the shit out of them. My favorite thing she does is when she gives her speech about why she also fights alongside her guardians. Yuna also had her faith shaken, and for the longest time didn't know what to do. She also wavered in her resolve about her pilgremage. She thought about quitting, about giving up, but she never did even though she was confused and didn't know what to do. She just kept blindly pushing forward.

Then...there's Tifa.

She watched her father die, she watched her entire home burn to the ground, and she was only 15 years old. Then, she finds herself in a foreign city, in a bad part of town, and knowing the basics of martial arts. Tifa no doubt had no idea what to do. She's a 15 year old girl, alone. Tifa still pushed forward even after losing everything. She joined AVALANCHE because of her hatred and wanted to fight against the evil known as Shinra.

She also became the emotional anchor to Cloud, despite Tifa having her own clear trauma's and gives so much of herself to the children she looks after. She even becomes quick friends with Aerith. Tifa is shown to be insecure, she's shown to doubt herself quite a lot, and like Lightning and Yuna, had her resolve shaken.

Tifa also puts others above herself and in a way, cuts out her weakness like Yuna and Lightning have done...but Tifa just CAN'T get rid of her compassion!

I love Tifa because she's vulnerable, yet she's so strong. She shows what true strength is, and that cutting out weakness is not strength but embracing your faults and admitting your mistakes is what makes you strong.

It is through admitting her sins that Tifa is able to move on, and realize she must keep going, not just for herself, but for the sake of others to. "Don't just take, you must give as well" this is what Tifa lives by.

She will always be the shoulder to cry on, she will always be there for you, EVEN if you annoy the shit out of her and burden her, she will NEVER turn her back on you.

In AC, we see this Tifa. This emotionally hurt Tifa who can still smile around the children, who can still be there for Cloud despite her own trauma.

She also harbors no resentment towards Cloud when he returns to her. She just sweetly smiles at him. She also loves Aerith, showing great sadness when she died, and wanting to keep going because she couldn't let Aerith die in vain.

Tifa is a beautiful and complex character all around. She has faults, she's made mistakes, she's done some really stupid things, but she is still my favorite.

This is my favorite bit :) ! I believe Tifa successfully sits in the healthy middle of the traditionally helpless disney princess trope and the jaded badass warrior woman. I dislike stories where a previously sweet woman becomes jaded after something traumatic happened then starts slaughtering people and losing their emotions. For me Tifa's enduring compassion and love for others are her most endearing traits.
