To Christina Rivera From the Office of the Imperium
Lemurian Islands - Eastern Most Island Federation Forces had completed their landing on the coast. The UFF Helios hovered above the outer coastline, providing tactical information to ground troops. Several military installations were either destroyed, seized, or shut down. Minimal casualties had been reported, with only three civilian deaths. UFF soldiers had attempted a rescue of hostages but were too late to save them, the bodies had been taken to a morgue where they would await proper burial. It would take several days to weeks before the island was firmly under UFF control. With that accomplished the federal forces would be looking for what they had come for, the presence of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. Atlantis Isles The UFF had successfully secured the Atlantian Isles with minimal damage to the islands themselves. With the concussive weaponry, most of the Lemurian soldiers had been incapacitated. There were only twelve confirmed deaths, three of those from friendly fire on the Lemurian Side, the rest had succumb to the will of the island, or were severely injured. The message from the Lemmintopian forces had been heard by the upper command, but at blatantly been ignored. With the battle nearly completed, the military command saw no reason to cease efforts. Mestra - I'balan (Imperial Capital) Protesters had swarmed the streets of I'balan as well as the capitals of Cal'Gallia, and Castilis to protest the war in the Atlantis Isles. Many citizens had felt this was unbeffiting of their nations or of the Federation. In the UTF capital city, Federation City, protestors stormed the Capitol building in a demonstration disproving of military action. Things in the Federation were destabilizing. |

North-West Lemurian Islands The rebels have continued to grow in strength. On the resistance radio station, Rivera called on the citizens of the Lemurian Islands to either assemble in protest or to join in with the Republican army, or at least help out in some way. Spontaneous crowds poured into the streets attempting to occupy the local government buildings. The military were called out to deal with the protestors, but most of the soldiers had themselves been outraged with the regime and instead turned on their officers. A new steady stream of well trained and armed soldiers joined ranks with the Republican Army who began to secure the north with the overwhelming support of the people. In a little over a week, the islands in the north were rid of Thorne's control. The armies still loyal to Thorne retreated to the central Lemurian Islands which were still under the control of Thorne. The navy, which had been blockading the north from Lemmingtopian and UTF aid for the rebels, retreated and focused on protecting the areas still under Thorne's control. The rebels were now open to receiving foreign aid and troops to help them in liberating the rest of the country. The Easternmost of the Lemurian Islands The UTF had succeeded in liberating this area. While the military resisted them in the beginning, they quickly gave up this loosing battle. After the struggle on the beaches, civilians came out to greet the advancing UTF forces who they saw as liberators. Without much more bloodshed, all remains of Thorne's control over this island had been eliminated. For now though, the central Lemurian Islands were still under Thorne's control. |

Eastern Lemurian Island Federal Forces had successfully gained control over the island. Those soldiers who weren't killed had been detained by the UTF or arrested by the Lemurian law enforcement of the island. Nearly 1,000 tons of supplies were being air dropped to the island. Food, medicine, basic supplies, and materials for reconstruction. Contractors from the Federation were arriving every day to aid in re-construction. With the island under firm control, the new Federation Council wasted no time to aid the Lemurians in this tragic time. Federation City - United Trade Federation ![]() The Federation Council had been drastically removed and replaced after the recent riots and protests in the Federation cities. For the time being, the heads of states of the Federation member states would sit on the Federation Council. The Mestran Emperor Alexander had convinced his fellow leaders to recall the troops from the Atlantian Islands, removing the Lemurian perpetrators. Apology letters were sent to the Lemmingtopian Government and her people, expressing this new Federation Council's stance on preserving the Atlantis Isles. Rebel Controlled Islands Military supplies were being air dropped to the Lemurian rebels. Within the last four days nearly 60,000 tons had been dropped, including tanks, jeeps, and humvees, weapons, food, supplies, gear, and air support. Breaking News! In an unexpected turn of events, Romulus Thorne has been poisoned while dining with his generals. It is unknown whether the poison was smuggled in by a rebel, or if one of his generals were responsible for it. In any case, with Thorne's death, his top generals and ministers escaped the country rather than continuing to fight a losing battle and eventually being brought to court. With no leadership, the parts of the military that had remained loyal to Thorne put down their firearms for the last time. Citizens took to the streets in celebration throughout the whole country. The tyranny had ended! Today, the rebel leaders arrived in the capital, Cearuleo, where they were greeted by the cheers of thousands of enthusiastic Lemurians. In People's Square, Christina Rivera made a speech before the whole of the Lemurian Islands and the rest of Atlantis. The highlights of it were as follows:
Over the next month... Courts had been set up for members of Thorne's regime that who had committed crimes against humanity. Sentences ranged from 30 years in prison to life imprisonment. With Thorne gone, the death sentence would never be used again on Lemurian soil. Some of the generals who escaped are still at large in Atlantis and beyond. The provisional government has asked foreign governments to extradite them if found. A constitutional convention has been set up for the drafting of a new constitution. Each province has already elected officials who are present at this convention, and who are required to bring the suggestions of their constituents to the table. |

As stability returned to the Lemurian Islands, the UTF pulled the bulk of its forces out of the nation's territory. Some military force remained to assist the new provisional government with security and stability, while the UTF itself had vowed to continue its support of the return to democracy. The mestran Emperor Alexander was scheduled to make a visit to the city of Cearuleo to meet with the head of the provisional government. Alexander who had assumed the duties of Viceroy of the Federation, would be pledging his support and that of the Federation and of Mestra to the cause of stabilization in the Lemurian Islands. |

The news came in just as the Prime Minister was walking on to the set of Opinionation. Because of the ambassador incident, his press staff had relatively forced him and Deputy P.M. Locha to go on press full clock in order to- what was it his senior press advisor had said?- "keep the nation satisfied and not rioting." Bowron was feeling tired and disheveled. This wasn't what he signed up for. Andrew Bowron was a man of the office, of the legislature, of making the tough calls, but running around sound stages talking to five chatty talk show hosts in two hours? Urgh, that's why he had a press staff. He was just walking onto the stage smoothing down his suit, preparing to go live again, when a technician ran out of the control booth yelling "The show's off!" What was it this time? Whatever could cancel his interview couldn't be good. Bowron inquired to his staff and one of them replied, "we just got the transmission from the UTF. the Islands are under control." Bowron gave the order and they raced back to the Silver Center. Bowron speedwalked to the Press Room and watched the red light on the camera turn to green. "Good afternoon, Ironicness," he said almost breathlessly. "Our nation, along with all of the others, have just heard the good news. I cannot tell you how happy my office is, but-" he stopped and read a cue card that said "REBEL LEMURIAN AMBASSADOR GOT SHOT AT EMBASSY" He took a breath. Oh no. "Thank you for everyone's support and may sovereignty be spread throughout the world." The light went off. Police cars surrounded the prominent Lemurian Embassy in Viable Plaza. The area was cordoned off from the crowds and press about ten yards from the entrance, surrounding the fountain outside. On the mesa of the fountain, there was a tape silhouette of a body. "This is Jodie Serrat outside the Lemurian Embassy, where newly appointed ambassador from the democratic Lemurian Islands Dover Banks was shot in the head while talking to reporters. Law enforcement arrested the murderer, a young woman in black who attempted to flee but was tackled by passerby. We go back to the studio to talk with some experts from the Lemurians. |
