The home game against Lemurian Islands was a true testament to Mestran domination. As the game concluded with a score of 5 - 1, the team had secured the first place in a tie with Nova Angleterre. The first half of the game had shown Mestra's offensive capabilities as they quickly scored a goal within the first 3 minutes. Ten minutes later the second goal was scored quickly followed by the third. The Lemurian team struggled to defend, and half way through the first half, the Lemurians finally rallied and stopped Mestran advancement. In an iconic move, the Lemurian center scored a goal just seconds before the whistle blew for the first half. As the second half opened, the Lemurian team pushed hard to close the lead held by the Mestrans. The famed Mestran defense pushed back the Lemurians, and in a spark of sheer luck the last two goals were scored. Mestran fans erupted, while the teams shook hands and congratulated each other. The Lemurian Islands was after all a close ally to Mestra, and that was clearly shown on the field. |

CFF News U.S.N.A. Incensed By Loss to Ellani The Nova Angleterre Democrats were beaten again, this time by the Ellani Dragons (Atlantis), and it sent Democrat faithful into an enraged frenzy. The match took place at Washington's Capitals Stadium and the Democrats were expected to trounce the Dragons, who were straddling the bottom of the Division I rankings. The Democrats offense looked good in the opening minutes, despite the fact the offense failed to score all night. The aggressive nature of the Democrats' attack tired them out too quickly, however, so it was left to an already exhausted defense to keep the Dragons at bay. The defense managed to prevent the Dragons from scoring until the very last minute, when the Dragons took a shot that was considered a lucky goal by many observers. The Democrats had no time to return fire, and they fell for a second straight match, bringing their record to 3-2-1, and also gave more ground to the Mestra Imperials, who now hold a 3-point lead over the Democrats in the Division I standings. The loss sent shockwaves throughout the stadium, and several fans threw debris at Dragons players, which the Democrats' general manager Eric Bischoff condemned. "Our people are better than that. The fans of the Democrats do not need to act like heathens." Bischoff did find a silver lining in the cloud though, saying, "Hey look, we are still in second place in the division. We are only three points behind the Mestra Imperials. And there's still a long way to go. Our thing is, our boys just need a break." Bischoff reiterated that the Democrats have been fighting for five straight matches without much rest. "The Democrat faithful are strong. We'll get out of this rut, but the way we're going at this point isn't great. The boys need a few days to rest, and then get back at it." Bischoff also sent a challenge to Mestra: "Look, we're banged up, but we're still a force to be reckoned with. When the Democrats and Imperials meet up, and we will eventually, it'll be our day. Unless they can say otherwise." |

The Mestran team went up against there rivals the Lemmingtopians. The match was a tense one, with the the Lemmingtopian defense holding off the efforts of the Imperials' offense. While the Imperials couldn't score on the Lemmingtopians, the Lemmintopians weren't able to score against a strong and united Mestran defense. In the last few minutes of the game the Mestran's were able to push past the Lemmingtopian defense and score the winning goal. |

Valenheim Champion: Kahlenberg's fifth match of the season ended in a 2-1 victory against Kurosiana's Cosmonauts as Dominic Suarez's later winner sent Kahlenberg third. Suarez opened the scoring in the seventeenth minute with a tap in after some great passing play by Manuel Suarez, Soderburg and Abdul kept the Cosmonauts defence busy chasing the ball which allowed Suarez to run into space and send the ball pass the helpless Cosmonauts keeper. A dominant display gave the illusion of safety but with ten minutes to play the Cosmonauts equalised. From then on Kahlenberg kept flooding the Cosmonauts have until finally a lovely chip through ball from Soderburg found Suarez who put a thumping shot passed the keeper with ninty seconds left. Kahlenberg now third with a game inhand on the Democrats in second. Final Score: Kahlenberg FC 2 Cosmonauts 1(Suarez 12, 89) (Yellow(s): Abdul, Doherty) Matchday 7 & 8 ended in defeats as Kahlenberg went down to both The Lemurs and the Cardinals 2-0 and 2-1 respectively. A poor performance was repeated in both games though Dominic Suarez scored his 4th of the season with a stunning free kick to shine some light on a disappointing week for the team. A draw was almost salvaged against the Cardinals from the penalty spot but substitute Tracey struck the post and saw his shot deflect safely into the keepers arms. Kahlenberg have lost two in a row for the first time in twelve years. They have yet to play table toppers Imperials and now lay 5th in the table but only five points off top spot. Still a long way to go. Final results: The Lemurs 2 Kahlenberg 0 (Yellow(s): - ) And Kahlenber 1 Cardinals 2(Suarez 24) (Yellow(s): Abdul) Edited by Zander, Mar 13 2013, 05:34 PM.

U.S.N.A - CFF News Democrats Hold Their Own vs. Two Atlantis Powerhouses The United States of Nova Angleterre's Democrats have seemingly found their mojo once again, and they have taken on Atlantis teams Lemmingtopias and Mestra. On day seven, the U.S.N.A. traveled to Lemmingtopias to face their National team. As with their counterpart from Atlantis, Lemurian Islands, many expected Lemmingtopias to defeat the United States. But, just like the Islands match, it was not to be. Lemmingtopias scored first on the twenty-sixth minute, chipping away at the weakened Democrats defense. But this time, the U.S.N.A. was not to be put down so quickly. CF Ed Schultz (Washington) scored first, punching it past the Lemmingtopias goalkeeper, on the thirty-seventh minute. Then, in the sixtieth minute AMF Robert Desmond (Westmarch) scored the second game-winning goal. The win catapulted the U.S.N.A. back into form, as the Democrats had beaten yet another Atlantis powerhouse. Day eight brought the much anticipated battle between another Atlantis power, Mestra, and the U.S.N.A. The game ended in a tie, but it proved to many that the United States could hang with the Atlantean powers. In this match, held in New Orleans's Superdome, the Democrats scored first, by way of national hero S Christopher Hayes (Sescheron). The Imperials would fire back, and a stalemate ensued. There was one instance, in the seventy-first minute, that many thought the Democrats scored again, but the referees ruled against it, drawing jeers from the 70,000+ crowd packing the Superdome. The tie left no change in standings between Mestra and the U.S.N.A. After these next two days of play, the U.S.N.A.'s record is now 4-2-2. GM Eric Bischoff stated to the press, "We have a good last couple of days. We beat Lemmingtopias and took a draw with Mestra. This ensures that the United States of Nova Angleterre is just as good as any Atlantis nation." |

L.I. Broadcasting Network An overview of the Lemurs' performance in the League This season began with a match against Lemmingtopias, who were hosting the game. It got off to a boring start, with both teams' performance sluggish. For the first half of the game, little of note happened. With 20 minutes left, just as the crowd was beginning to doze off, The Lemmingtopian National Team found a crack in the Lemurs' defences and managed to score a goal. The Lemurs, beginning to panic as the game approached the end, sought to equalize the score desperately. However, within the last 10 minutes, Lemurian striker Juan Vitali penetrated through the Lemingtopian Defenders' formation, and scored. Relieved, the Lemurs played more confidently, but were unable to secure an advantage and the game ended in a draw. In the next game, the Lemurs were hosting and played the Nova Angleterre Democrats. The energy in this game was a step up from the last one, yet the two teams were seemingly evenly matched, until the Democrats scored the winning goal. The spirits of the team went down that day, and would continue to sink in the next few games. In the next game, the Lemurs were again hosting. The Lemurs were still a new team, and after the last defeat felt a blow to their confidence. As in the last game, the players failed to score a single goal and became frustrated, and the referee called out yellow cards on two of the Lemurs. Kurosiana managed one goal, in a penalty shootout. This further compounded negative attitudes in the players. In the next game, the Lemurs travelled to Mestra, where they would play the Imperials. With so many losses, and the famed strength of the Imperials, the Lemurs did not expect to win. They were proved right when the Imperials glided past some clumsy defences on the Lemurs' side and scored 3 goals before halftime, while the Lemurs only scored one before half time. Mestra scored two more goals later in the game while the Lemurians struggled and failed in their attempts at scoring more goals. It was a crushing defeat, but the team took it well and graciously shook hands with the Imperials, who they both admired, and had friendly relations with. Despite the blunders that the Lemurs had made in the previous games, coach Rex Galeotti had come out to tell us that the team were feeling more optimistic. They had apparently revised their strategies, and were feeling more confidant about the next games. Their new apparent optimism was fed by the next two games. The Lemurs played the Ironic Cardinals next, who were the hosts. This surprised many commentators who thought that the Lemurs were doomed after so many losses, while the Cardinals had already been done well in the league. The match was quite a tense one, the Lemurs had adapted their defence tactics and were more effective at blocking possible goals by the Cardinal attackers, although they came quite close to scoring a couple of times. Juan Vitali, the Lemurian striker succeeded in scoring two goals, and Antony Pellegrini, the second striker made one lucky shot that earned the team another goal. The Lemurs were pumped for the next match. Next, the Lemurs were the hosts to Kahlenberg FC, from Ermonte. Surprisingly again, the Lemurs beat Kahlenberg FC 2-0, even though Kahlenberg were one of the leading teams in the League so far. There were a few unlucky close attempts by Kahlenberg to score goals, but the Lemurs barely dodged them. They also managed to break through Kahlenberg FC's defences a couple of times and scored 2 goals within the first half of the game. Kahlenberg were successful in preventing any more goals after that. The Lemurs newfound glory fizzled out somewhat in the game with 98X who were hosting. 98X was one of the leading nations in the rankings for the first devision. In a very heated game, both teams managed to nearly score goals which were prevented last minute by their defenders and goalkeepers. The game ended in a draw. In the past few games, the performance of the Lemurs has improved, as has their confidence. It remains to be seen wether this is pure luck, or a genuine improvement in the players. |

A sad day fell on the Mestran Imperials. After 4 wins and 3 draws, the momentum of the Imperials was crushed by Ermonte. The Imperials took full advantage of the Ermonte team right off the bat scoring the teams single goal within the first five minutes. The Ermonte tied the game seconds before the end of first half. The Imperials were unable to score another goal, and in their frustration they allowed the Ermonte team to score. With the final score being 1-2. Luck still held with the Imperials remaining in first in Division I. |

CFF News U.S.N.A. Has Bye Day No competition to report today as the United States of Nova Angleterre Democrats had no league match to play today, the ninth day of competition. GM Eric Bischoff stated that many players were taking much of the day to rest after eight days straight of play which led to a record of 4 wins, 2 losses and 2 ties. Clearly, the U.S.N.A. has done better than many observers anticipated. Bischoff remarked, "We've beaten the odds. We weren't supposed to last long in this division. But here we are after eight days and folks, we are one point back from Mestra." Team captain FB James Raynor also said this, "The boys are on a well-deserved rest. We're strong and we're going to kick some more ass in our next match." Many have praised Raynor's leadership as captain in recent days in holding the team spirit together after an admittedly modest start. "The second place ranking we've got in the division in my opinion isn't good enough. Once the actual Cup tournament begins, you're damn skippy we are gonna take the title and prove to the whole Commonwealth that we are who we say we are, and that's the best in the world." As far as his leadership, Raynor remarked, "Look, I told the boys I ain't a role model and I don't even profess to be one. But they seem to understand more than perhaps even me as to what strength I bring to the table. We may not win all our matches, and hell, we may get knocked on our ass a couple of times like that Ellani mess, but as long as I'm standin', we're gonna be okay." Bischoff was asked about the 1-1 draw against Mestra, who in many circles was regarded as the strongest team in the league. "We took it to them. Raynor, Hayes, Matthews, all of them, they took to the Imperials, and hey we may not have won, but we proved to Mestra that we are on their level and they cannot deny it." ![]() ---- INTERVIEW SPECIAL ---- <Allan Rochester, in-studio> *chuckling* and welcome back to SPORTSnet on Ironicness Review! I'm Allan Rochester, and normally at this point we would take you down somewhere else in the Commonwealth to report on the CFF, but today- no need! The Cardinals are happily back playing in Jasperion today- trailing a several-win bonanza! Our own Riley Donahue has more. <pan to Donahue, in front of a screen> Thanks, Allan. The Cardinals in the past few days have been to TUSE, Atlantis, and New Sorvun, and they've been kicking up a storm wherever they go. First, we went to host-nation Lemurian Islands. We thought they would be good, and we were right! Not on our A-game, according to a press release by Head Coach Pleschke. But after a vigorous round of working, the Cardinals went to Mestra and TIED, much to the delight of onlooking fans. Ermonte was also a great game, though a narrow lead at the end finished us just one above 'em. Lastly, just this morning, the Cardinals faced 98x back in their home turf of Shepard Stadium just a few blocks from here, which would have been put out of use had Ironicness won the host nation pick. Overall, it was a good spread, and Ironicness is now back in its comfy position of third under leaders Mestra and USNA. <Allan> Thanks for the update, Riley. Now, with the players in close proximity with OUR home turf, we've managed to get a few over here. Please welcome our honored guest, first sweeper Rachael Harris. Rachel, it's great to see you in the studio. <Rachel, sitting at Allan's desk> Thanks for having me, Allan, great to be here. <Allan> Now, Rachel, you are just the third woman who's been traveling with Ironicness sports teams internationally. Is that a great thing for you, is it pressure, is it responsibility? <Rachel> Well, I've always been an avid women's rights supporter, so it's great thatit exists, but it's not great that it's so unique. We should have more out there, so it's normal to see girls like me kicking the ball. <Allan> Great, just great. Well, I hear you have a plane in an hour, so I won't keep you- good luck, the whole country's behind you. <looks at camera> Rachel Harris, ladies and gentlemen, we'll be right back with more CFF coverage. |

CFF News Democrats Knock Down Kurosiana Again; Fall to Lemurian Islands The United States of Nova Angleterre's Democrats were back it for two more days of competition, and took a mixed record out of it. The first match was Kurosiana, the Atlantis nation that was felled by the U.S.N.A. in the Democrats' first match. Just like the first match, the U.S.N.A. defeated Kurosiana by a score of 1-0. In this match, S Christopher Hayes made the score that sealed the match in the fifteenth minute, a rather early goal. Some thought the Democrats defense would collapse and give the game away, but Kurosiana's offense failed to garner any momentum and the win was sealed. The U.S.N.A. improved to 5-2-2 and was now 2-0 against Kurosiana. Then the fortunes changed. The U.S.N.A. hosted Lemurian Islands' Lemurs in New Orleans' Superdome. In the first match, hosted in the Islands, the Democrats defeated the Lemurs 1-0. This time around, the fortunes were flipped, and the Democrats were defeated on their home turf by the Lemurs, by the same score of 1-0. The Democrats offense was stunned and the defense got caught off guard by a rush attack by the Lemurs offense. The loss knocked the Democrats to a record of 5-3-2 and now drew .500 against Lemurian Islands. The Democrats temporarily took the lead over 98X and Mestra after 2nd Kurosiana, but lost it when they lost the second battle with Lemurian Islands. However, the U.S.N.A. still remains in striking distance of the Mestra Imperials, just down 1 point. |

The Mestran team didn't play in the next rounds match ups, but had watched the Nova Angleterre games. The Imperials standing in the Division was barely being held against the formidable team from New Sovrun. As the round matches ended, the Imperials were booted out of their first place position, but not for long. The home match against 98x was a tough one. The 98x team managed to score the first goal of the match on the 27th minute. The Imperials were unable to secure a goal at the end of the first half, and during the last 20 minutes of the second half, the team finally scored their first goal. The winning goal was made in the last few minutes of the match, much to the surprise of onlooking fans. With the score 2-1, the Mestran Imperials' win had moved them out of the third and back into first in the division. |

Odessa Observer: 'Suarez Show' Following two defeats in two games Kahlenberg got their title charge back on track against early season leader Imperial winning two one. The imperials took the lead in the opening five minutes after some terrible marking by Doherty which allowed the Imperials to take the lead. Against a hostile crowd Kahlenberg began to get a foothold on the game and almost equalised in the twentieth but Nakumura saw his shot hit the bar and go into row z. A thundering free kick from Dominc Suarez put the visitors on level terms on the stroke of half time after Nakumura was brought down just outside the area. With ten minutes to go it was almost role reversal as Suarez was fouled and Nakumura took the free kick but again saw his shot hit the bar. This time however with a deal of fortune the ball came back out and landed at the feet of Manuel Suarez who's first time shot was burried into the bottom right hand corner of the goal and thats how it remained. Final Score: Imerials 1 Kahlenberg FC 2(Suarez 45, Manuel Suarez 85) (Yellow(s): Doherty, Gillroy) Hydra News: 'OG, OH MY!' A late own goal from Graig Gillroy saw Kahlenberg lose yet again on the road this time to Silent Raid in a one nil defeat. Cheech Assaidi almost leveled with the last kick of the game but his header went just over the bar. Manager Josef Allen was furious with the team for their lack of effort in the matches they've lost so far but knows the team still has a lot to give. Final Score: Silent Raid 1 Kahlenberg FC 0 Kahlenberg Champion: 'Lucky 13' Two thirteenth minute strikes from Dominic Suarez saw Kahlenberg win two games in a row against Ellania Dragons and the Lemmingtopias national team. Both games could have ended four or five nil but for the lack of finishing. Suarez is now the clubs to scorer with 7 so far this season. Final Scores: Kahlenberg FC 1 Ellani Dragons 0(Suarez 13) (Yellow(s): - ) And Lemmingtopias 0 Kahlenberg FC 1(Suarez 13) (Yellow(s): Manuel Suarez, Morgan) Port Fallon Observer: 'Mid Table Not Good Enough' Kahlenberg manager Josef Allen was furious with team as they threw away a two goal lead against the Democrats and lost for a fifth time this season against Cosmonauts. Dominic Suarez bagged his eighth and ninth goals of the season in the first two minutes agains Democrats. A superb run from the half way line saw him beat half the Democrats team to end in a lovely low struck shot across the keeper which nestled into the bottom left corner. A minute later Suarez nicked the ball from the restart as he intercepted a lazy pass to again run at the Democrats defence, this time lobbing the Democrats keeper to send Kahlenberg two nil up after just two minutes. It was looking like the start of a route but the Democrats got themselves organised and in the last twenty minutes scored twice themselves. Another own goal, this time from Assaidi cost Kahlenberg a point against the Cosmonauts which now leaves them five points of top spot. However the league is shaping up to be a five horse race with only five points seperating the top five, with two teams on 25 and three on 20 who are six points ahead of sixth place Lemmingtopias. Division II looks to be all but over with 15 points seperating first from second. Final Scores: Kahlenberg FC 2 Democrats 2(Suarez 1, 2) (Yellow(s): - ) And Cosmonauts 1 Kahlenberg FC 0 (Yellow(s): Assaidi) |

Saikawa Daily It's been a bad week for the Saikawa United FC. The club has seen three straight back to back defeats to the other clubs all with multi-goal losses. The first defeat came from Division leaders Parnaria 3-1 with the sides only goal coming in the 90 th minute from a free kick. The second defeat came from Trotsgrad, the team gave a poor performance in which the opposing Trotsgrad strikers took an oppurtunity from and scored two goals in ten minutes. This has got Saikawa United fans calling for the sacking of the manager. This was only increased by another dismal performance which saw the team go down again to the Nova Angleterre 'Democrats' 3-1. |

CFF News WEEKS 4 & 5 PROVE DAMAGING TO U.S.N.A. The United States of Nova Angleterre sits in an unacceptable fourth in Division I after the past two weeks of bad play. Week 4 was quite frankly a mess. The U.S.N.A. didn't win a single match, instead drawing 1-1 with Ironicness in Jasperion, 2-2 with Ermonte and then losing yet again to 98X 1-0 at Washington Capitals Stadium. Captain Jim Raynor has been very vocal about the mess the Democrats are in right now. "This is the worst we've been in weeks and frankly we need to shape up," the captain said. Though many fans are starting to realize that the Democrats are in trouble, it took Week 5 to make it certain. The Democrats opened Week 5 well, being Lemmingtopias 1-0. But then, they dropped a match away at Mestra, which many are calling an insult, because Democrats players were accusing Imperials players of dirty play, not to mention they were pelted with debris from unruly fans. The Democrats then had a day off before facing their first Division II team, the Sainam United FC, from the region of Caprecia. The enraged Democrats took their frustrations out on Sainam, trouncing the visitors to the New Orleans Superdome by a score of 3-1. All told, the U.S.N.A. is at a pitiful 7-5-5 record in Division I and sits in fourth place. GM Eric Bischoff decried this shammy rating, "This is ridiculous. Our play has got to improve or people are going to find themselves out of a job." Bischoff did not say that FB captain Jim Raynor would be among the people cut. "Raynor isn't going anywhere. But people are going to start getting smacked around if this shabby play keeps up." Bischoff did announce that several players from other teams in the U.S.N.A.'s professional soccer league, the USSL, have been signed as possible national players, including the first two female players. They are: Goalkeeper Valerian Maxwell (Washington) Sweeper Ted DiBiase (New Orleans) Center Back Mitch Landrieu (New Orleans) Full Back Sarah Kerrigan (Caldeum) Full Back Arcturus Mengsk (Connecticut) Wingback James Cain (Tristram) Center Midfielder Horace Warfield (Bastion's Keep) Defensive Midfielder Jack Doane (Ureh) Attacking Midfielder Richard Cordray (Massachusetts) Attacking Midfielder George Moore (Westmarch) Winger Stephen Townshend (Virginia) Center Forward Frederick Frelinghuysen (Sescheron) Striker Nova Annabella-Terra (New Orleans) Deep Lying Forward Eric Polaris (Connecticut) The list was notable to inclusion of several teams not sending players to the national team, such as Connecticut and New Orleans, as well as FB Sarah Kerrigan and S Nova Annabella-Terra, the first females in the U.S.N.A. national roster. FB Arcturus Mengsk is the most experienced player on the roster now, having played for Connecticut since the league's inception in 1989. He replaces S Inhofe Snowskull of Harrogath, who has played since 1991. |

Parna Courier - Sports With the CFF going on into it's 5th week, The Wraiths continue to go strong. After suffering there first lost last week to the Islanders, the Wraiths remain unfazed. Manager Ryan Kalmar said this was to be expected sometime in the season. It may have fazed the time if the Wraiths weren't riding so high. The wraiths came back strong this week with a tremendous 3-1 victory over Saikawa United. Managing two goals in the first half, and another in the second. The week continued matches against two national teams. A 2-1 victory over The Allied States. Although The Allied States scored the first goal of the match, the Wraiths were agle to come back with a 42nd minute and 63rd minute goals. This was followed up by a 1-0 victory over Lemmingtopias' national team. The game would have been a draw but a lone goal was scored in extra time just before the match was about to end which clenched it for the Wraiths. The wraiths currently have a record of 15-1-1 and sit at the top of Division II with a sizable lead. |
