![]() Statement regarding The South Pacific coup April 22, 2013 This past weekend the feeder region The South Pacific fell into the grasp of a Rogue Delegate. Milograd has taken the power to rule The South Pacific for himself ejection thousands of native nations and incorporated foreign backers to prop his regime up. He has defied the democratic coalition government of The South Pacific for his own personal agenda. New Sorvun knows all to well of such betrayal and we will not stand idly by and let another region succumb to the same fate. New Sorvun shall pledge diplomatic support, and if need be render military aid to The South Pacific to return the delegate seat to the legitimate, governmentally-mandated, democratically-elected individual. Milograd is not the first to attempt a coup in The South Pacific, and surely is not the first who thinks that just because you have the seat of power in a region that the region is your property and its residents be damned. We must make a stand against Milograd and his kind. Each region determines its own fate, however regions are not playgrounds for its founders and delegates to torment at their whim, and this is why New Sorvun stands a beacon of hope because we will not let anyone threaten our way of life, whether it be raiders or a belligerent founder, we will stand by The South Pacific's side to see order restored, and let it be known that this will not be tolerated anywhere in Nationstates. Likako A. Nehio Lord Chancellor of the Second Republic of New Sorvun. |

| Why can the elected delegate not send for help to fend off people trying to intervene in the internal politics of the region? |

Milo is on trial for treason and has not responded to the charges, has ejected many natives, has removed the link to the forum, replaced the regional flag and has changed the form of government which is pretty much defined as treason. When the legitimate government asks for help treaties kick in. If I need to give anymore reasons as to why supporting an ally and upholding a treaty is right then there is something wrong with both of us. |

| But Zander, Milo was elected legitimately by the populace of the South Pacific, whether he is on trial or not. Therefore, despite the crap he's pulling, his administration is legitimate. How in the hell do you justify these claims that Milo is not a legitimate figure and we oughta take him out? All due respect, sir, but its ridiculous. It is a civil war in the South Pacific and nobody should be allowed to get involved unless the situation becomes much more serious. |

When the native nations that are endorsing Milograd pull out their support from him, then I won't see him as the legitimate leader. But the fact is, he does have the majority of the natives' support, and he himself is a native. Whatever the "legitimate" government claims is irrelevant, since they are not supported by the region. Not that I personally would endorse Milograd, but the South Pacific does, and that is their choice. |

Hey, I personally don't agree with his methods of running a region, but that does not mean other regions should intervene because they don't like him. That is the definition of raiding, which I am strongly against. |

So anyone who is elected and decides to become a dictator and go against the rest of the government is legitimate? No, that is ridiculous.
Nobody should be allowed and yet they have allowed us. As many of TSP natives are natives/citizens of other region it is impossible for the international community not to get involved so this regional sovereignty argument anyone tries will not fit. This exact stunt was pulled in Balder, I ended up second in the Delegate election, but it never got to the stage it has in TSP. I was cheated out of the position so legitimising an elected rogue will not fly with me. I have laid out all the justification I need to call for an end to Milo's reign, so if you still dont like my answer, tough. |

As Frattastan outlined on the FRA forums, any mandate he had as elected Delegate of the South Pacific was nullified when he went against every election promise he made, removed the link to the forums he was elected on and started ejecting innocent Natives left, right and centre. The legitimate government of TSP has requested foreign assistance in removing the rogue Delegate and as far as I am concerned that is appropriate justification to intervene. To compare use-created founderless regions to GCRs is rather simplistic, there is a world of difference between the two and to have a different policy for both is not necessarily ideologically inconsistent. |

| Furthermore- and I'm just injecting this here, contrary to what someone said earlier Milograd does NOT have the support of his natives. Brutland and Norden has been endorsed by most of the natives and Milograd is being endorsed by incoming supporters that have no previous business in TSP. Take a look at TSP's regional happenings, WA nations are flocking in by the dozens and endorsing Milograd. |

Do I like what he's doing? Hell no I don't. If you and your allies want to go in and take him, be my guest.
I still would like to know how the hell you're going to topple this regime that probably has hundreds of endorsements of a region of 4,000 bloody people! I still think this is a mistake. But if the FRA and other foreign ops want to be involved, so be it. I will not support any idea of New Sorvun getting involved, however, if it comes to it. Whether I agree with the 'revolution' or how it came about is irrelevant... I do not believe we need to get involved until the Security Council mandates a Liberation. Until then, let them solve the dispute themselves... Plus their must be a reason for such a revolution to have even occurred. |

| For no other reason than he could. He has brought in a lot of his role-playing friends to pass this off as a revolution of the proletariat, and to do away with the 'Oligarchy' of influence within the region. His revolution however does nothing to combat these issues and is more than anything a way for him to try and establish his power while having fun. |

The government to which you refer has been overthrown by a legitimately endorsed delegate. Your treaties are null and void unless the new government re-affirms them. You aren't defending a region, you are intervening in a civil war.

The government remains on its forums, and is in the midsts of putting Milograd on trial and recalling him. He has violated their constitution and laws, and therefore is no longer legitimately the delegate. It has not been overthrown and it still exists. @Deckard. Milo has only 30 or so endorsements more than the native who opposes him. It would be easy for a liberation to push that native over Milo if it gets enough people to support it.
