![]() The Moreland Islands a 4 large islands in close proximity. They are Great Moreland Outer Moreland Inner Moreland Lesser Moreland Capital City:- Haggens Ba(pop 800,000) Largest City:- Higham (950,000) Languages:- English (75%) Morelandish (20%) Variations on Island Languages (5%) Religion:- As of 2014 census 75% professed no religion, 10% Christian , 5% Pagan, 5% Humanist, 5% others Demonym: Morelander Government:- Democratic Republic Head of State:- President Henry Sommerville Head of Legislature:- Prime Minister Kelly Anderson Legislative Body:- The Island Council. The Island Council is elected every 4 years , each island selects a number of Councillors based on size of population, currently Great Moreland elects 35 Councillors, Outer Moreland 25, Inner Moreland 21 and Lesser Moreland 17. This makes a combined total of 98 Councillors. These Councillors are not necessarily linked to any political party , however over the years several key parties have come into existence. Currently the Council is made up as follows:- 36 Councillors - The Island Democratic Party (IDP) lead by Prime Minister Kelly Anderson 12 Councillors - Liberal Freedoms Party (LFP) lead by Councillor James Elliot 11 Councillors - Island Conservative Union (ICU) lead by Timothy Gould 10 Councillors - Island Unity Organisation (IUO) lead by Henry Carlton 9 Councillors - Moreland Traditional Party (MTP) lead by Paul Yates 9 Councillors - Free Thinkers Organisation (FTO) lead by Jacob Marston 8 Councillors - Island Nationalist Party (INP) lead by Rebecca Jones 3 Councillors - Coalition of Independent Councillors (CIC) made up of Fiona Jones, Katie May and Joe Oppenworth The Prime Minister is decided by the representatives of the party with the most votes. The President is elected every 5 years and may serve just three terms of office. The role of the President is to hold the Prime Minister to account, authorise the use of military powers and disband the Council for elections. |
