Woman who spent 8 days trapped in her wrecked vehicle is upgraded from critical condition Woman who spent 8 days trapped in her wrecked vehicle is upgraded from critical condition SEATTLE (AP) -- A woman who spent more than a week trapped in the wreckage of her vehicle has been upgraded to serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said Sunday. Tanya Rider, 33, was admitted in critical condition Thursday with kidney failure and other injuries after her mangled SUV was found in a ravine off a highway suburban Seattle. She remained in the intensive care unit Sunday, said Susan Gregg-Hanson, spokeswoman for Harborview Medical Center. Rider's kidneys failed because of toxins from a muscle injury and dehydration. Doctors say her brain function is normal. She also broke her collar bone and dislocated her shoulder and has pressure sores from being held by the seat belt, probably upside down. Investigators believe Rider ran off the road Sept. 20 while driving home from work at a department store. Her husband, Tom Rider, has expressed outrage that he had to fight to get authorities to launch a search. He said he was told at first that his wife couldn't be categorized as a missing person because she wasn't a minor, suicidal or mentally ill. King County Sheriff Sue Rahr has ordered a review of 911 calls and said that any mistakes would be addressed. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |

Ugh. The police fail, miserably >.> I mean seriously. I understand why those three choices, but still. A woman is missing and some investigation should be underway. Like the fire at the apts not too far away from me killing two people I graduated with who just had a baby. Reason being? A meth lab. Landlord? A policeman. T.T |
