I'ma ninja, bitch.

Anyone listen to them? Have you before?

Do you think they sound better with or without Sonny?

I liked them better with Sonny, but I like Sonny's solo stuff even more.

It's just another run-of-the-mill 'band' catering to a tired-out and corporately over-homogenized genre, they're corny, shallow, and there is nothing notable about them. They're not even proper screamo. They're one of many imitators in an empty well of a genre, and like bands like My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, and Fall Out Boy, are more known for the "sexy" (because he looks like a tranny?) frontman (who like the others lacks vocal talent ) than any sort of songwriting and/or technical substance (example for FFTL: the lead vocalist sings all the same notes in the choruses of “The One-Armed Boxer Vs the Flying Guillotine,” “Featuring Some of Your Favorite Words,” and “Secrets Don’t Make Friends."). Also, their song names are lol, like many other pretentious carbon copy emo bands.

*rolls my eyes*

Well sonny left the band so you can stop your B#$%^ing

Being the critic that you are, you must listen to some pretty "awesome" bands then eh?

You know what I'd much rather listen to bands Like FFTL and MCR than a bunch of dumb a** "gangsters" "singing" about Grills, getting girls, their sweet rides, their money, their "bling" and all the expensive s**t they buy, smoking weed and living in the Ghetto when they make so much money they don't know what ghetto is, Merely boost their fcking ego's and push around their god damned testosterone like a bunch of stupid monkeys.

And for what? To get some tail? *laughs* pathetic. If you can't get a girl from your own personality you don't deserve one in the first place.

Tranny? Sorry, I don't think any of the singers or members of any of the bands you've mentioned look like Trannies.

I know trans gendered people, I live with one, they do not resemble one at all. So you're wrong there.

Define "Proper Screamo" o.O

it's just a genre, and there is a thing, if you took your head out of your a** for a couple seconds to realize it, as mixing genre's.

Bands aren't JUST screamo, or JUST hardcore. There are so so so many sub genre's out there.

they could be Post Hardcore, they could be part screamo part alternative part Electronica!

I think you put just a little too much effort into thinking about that. Are you trying to sound smart, or just like a jerk?

If you don't like them, don't post here. There are enough people out there who hate the entire genre, and the whole fan base out there, we don't need more coming directly into a conversation about them and Tooting their horn about how much they suck.

1. I like how you assume I'm a big rap fan. This is lulz. I am not a big fan of rap or emo, but I like them both. Neither are favourites of mine. Way to go completely off the point, especially since the rap I listen to isn't even of the "gangsta" variety, because you're completely right about it for the most part. I can no longer eat chicken noodle soup without getting sick for a reason.

2. I think they look like women, especially since feminine men is the style in this genre. It's factual, not a law that always proves true, but it can be factual. This is pretty much beside the point too, but at least this was taken from something I actually posted, instead of you randomly pulling mainstream gangsta rap out of your a**.

3. Bands like Orchid, Envy, Jeromes Dream, and Portraits of Past. The term has been twisted badly to mean almost any melodic rock/punk that incorporates screaming into it, thanks to the gluttonous overuse and misuse from publications like SPIN. Emo, due to the stupidity of the term itself, is easily abused.

4. Now you're telling me about multiple genres? Aren't you the person who just a few seconds ago assumed that because I didn't like emo music I adore gangsta rap? I don't know what to think, except that maybe we both take residence inside our asses, it seems in your infitinite wisdom I do at least. I would call them post-hardcore I guess, though most people I know refer to them as screamo, but the point still stands, its still an imitator of superior post-hardcore bands Fugazi, At The Drive-In, and Big Black (though one could argue Big Black is soley noise rock, I would call it a mixture of post-hardcore and noise rock). Like I said before, emo is easily abused and since it gained popularity the distinction between subcategories of emo are blurred.

5. Yes, I am a music critic, I love music, I love it so much. Yes, I take a lot of time to think about it, I am not ashamed by my passion. I am not ashamed to voice an opinion. I'm not trying to bring anyone down, I'm not trying to be a jerk, or a genius. I can voice my opinion, and I'm not attacking your's, go ahead and like it, even if I don't understand why. This is called a discussion, not a "omg lets all completely agree with each other" totalitarian fangasm where weall have to be nice to everything. I just wish you would stop being judgemental. I honestly thought you were a cool, nice person, I don't know why all of a sudden you seem so blind. So I will continue to post what I feel about whatever band I damn well please, and I support you to do the same.

Omg, I think it's so stupid when people judge other bands based on looks/image. Who cares! Everyones judged now-a-days, its how it goes, and how it'll be.

And why people always use emo as an insult is beyond me, since no one ever knows what emo music is, since everyone has their own representation of it.

Emo - Emotional. If we narrow it down, every song is emo, because it's emotional to some degree.

And also, the dude bashing bands. Have you heard From First To Lasts newer stuff like The Levy? I found that quite unique compared to alot of stuff. Saying that, you can't really be original anymore, since everythings been done and dusted.

I like From First To Last. And I absolute adore My Chemical Romance, it's just my type of music I guess. MCR don't have bad lyrics, some can be clever and witty and have quite abit of meaning.

Yeah, I've heard their newer stuff, superior to the first album, but I didn't find it anything to wet myself over.

It is possible to be original these days. Everyone uses that "done and dusted" excuse to let it be ok that stuff out there sounds so painstakingly similar. I don't expect everything out there to come out and blow my mind with its sounds, and even original bands are borrowing from something, but theres a line, and eventually you just borrow too much.

Personally I think Gerard is a talentless songwriter, but I'm not going to get into this, because it must mean I like even more gangster rap than I'm aware of.

couldn't find the Wikipedia entry because I know it exists, but there's a list of Post Hardcore bands from Answer.com.

I mean, I don't really care, I think FFTL is alright, I think they're nothing without sonny though. I loved his voice.

the whole thing just felt like an attack on the genre, that's why I got pretty crazy about it.

I'm more of a Thrice Person, who is up there with the Post Hardcore Giants that you stated, and probably the most successful / longest running / has the bigger fan base than any of the other post hardcore bands. I mean, that's just what I think. I've been a fan of theirs since middle school and I'm 19 now and should be in college, so i've been on of the fans there watching them grow and listening to them change, and I still absolutely love them, even if I don't really agree with the direction they took for their new 4 disc album Alchemy Index (however the name is awesome)

Along with them, my favorite bands would have to be

Silverstein
Bayside
Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Saosin (both with and without Anthony Green)
Senses Fail
The Sleeping
Funeral For A Friend
Story of The Year
Anti Flag
and
Hidden In Plain View (no longer a band)

Sorry if I jumped down your throat

I'm a really gentle person actually lol, but when I debate I go all out.

You should see my Pro Homosexual debates XD

Well, I agree they'll be nothing without Sonny. Nine out of ten people I have talked to are FFTL fans only because they think Sonny is sexy.

You're right though. I am attacking the genre, one way or another. Not only do I honestly think the term is retarded, its so pretentious for one to think their music alone is "emotional." Though I was more attacking the brutal homogenization of the genre, its newfound plastic feel, and the annoying use of trying to spread the term to mean anything that isn't robotic (The Beatles are being called emo by some, what the f**k). I do enjoy some emo music, Cap'n Jazz is ace. Thrice is one of the better groups out there, and I enjoyed Vheissu. I got their new album like right now, because it seems interestingly ambitious.

I'm still perplexed as to why I apparently love gangster rap though.

Lol, no no no, if you read it over again I was saying that even the Crappy stuff out there like Fall Out Boy is better than gangster rap.

I can see where you might have thought I was saying that YOU liked it because of the loose way I said it, But was just saying that I'd much rather listen to F.O.B or MCR than ya know, Chicken noodle god damned soup.

As to why I'm so into this music, I really couldn't tell you.

I'm a 19 year old Mexican/native american, 10 piercings 4 tattoos adopted into a family with an Irish Dad and an Italian mom, Love RPGs, Anime, Hacky Sack and used to play Magic: The Gathering (the card game) and absolutely love Post hardcore and "screamo" bands, oh and techno ^_^ I'm very very big into Techno, electronica, Trance, Rave, House.

The music just fits me best. I listen to what my ears like I guess. Sound first, lyrics after. I can't help it if a song I happen to like has some really crappy lyrics, that's just how I function, I'll focus on what sounds appealing to me first, then when I like it I'll worry about the lyrics.

Music doesn't define a person, ya know ^_^

sure it makes up part of who they are but you can't say well...he listens to this and that so he must be gay.

For instance, I'm gay. I hate Madonna. Madonna is a HUGE gay guy thing, but not me.
