I have spent a fortune on foraging toys, when all i really needed to do was use what I had at home they seem to prefer this ( bit like kids and presents they prefer the box rather than the toy lol)

Ive been wrapping nutriberries in a bit of kitchen roll and leave them round the cage, they have to rip the paper to get it out. Oscar loves it he knows its in there somewhere and you can hear little squeals out of him when he cant get to it.
also ive been using little deli pots I got mine from an indian takeaway it had mango chutney in it. Put some of there favorite treats in and they have to get the lid off to get to them.

A few others....

Put paper over treat bowl and they have to get through the paper to get to the treats.

Small cereal boxes you know the little ones you get in variety packs. Fill them with treats and shredded paper. The box tends to get trashed as well in the process.

The plastic egg that you get in the middle of kinda eggs. Drilled holes in it fill it with treats and hang it from the top of cage.

Wrap treats up in brown paper bags and hang around the cage.

I have found them to be a much bigger hit than the bought toys and im able to offer more variety with not spending £5 - £10 a time on a toy RESULT....

Anyone got any of there foraging toy tips ?

Those are some cool foraging toys you made !! I will have to use a few of those for my birds . I spend alot of money per month on my bird toys as they get chewed up relatively quickly . If i was creative like you , i could definitely save a bundle of money on toys .

Thanks for the ideas :)

There are so many toys u can make yourself its only your imagination that stops u. Normaly the easiest is the best and what the birds love most. U can pay lots and lots of money and the bird cant even bother to take a look at it but if it finds a tooth pick or a plastic cork it can plays with it day after day.. Its kinda funny :D

Well i make lots of toys for mine. Toys, playgrounds and play houses. I just love to make them. I use lots of natural wood, small plastic things and yeah what ever thats safe for the bird :)
My problem is that i got so many ideas in my head but to little space in the apartment :D
I have lots of toys that i havent put on my site yet but maybe u can get some kind of ideas in there. www.fugleleker.no
U can always search on birdtoys/parrot toys and make out of that :)

Its Echo and his older sister Coco.
Chanels old owner had 2 conures.. Coco and Chanel but i had Coco *before they got Chanel* and Chanel on Holidays and couple of months before i found a place for Coco to live. I desided i wanted to take Chanel in since she wasent that tame and was little spesial. So its a pic of Echo and Coco on the front page, but Echo are in the sleepingtent plus in the playhouse *Lekehus*

So true I bought Pele what I thought was a great foraging toy cost me around £11 and he was more interested in the box it was in, I ended up putting the box in his cage as well he loved it. He still doesnt care that much for the toy that was in it.

Great site, I loved the sleep tent it looked sooooo cozy :cloud9:
