The College Conspiracy
Quote:

The College Conspiracy Full Documentary - College Conspiracy is the most comprehensive documentary ever produced about higher education in the U.S. The film exposes the facts and truth about America's college education system.

'College Conspiracy' was produced over a six-month period by NIA's team of expert Austrian economists with the help of thousands of NIA members who contributed their ideas and personal stories for the film. NIA believes the U.S. college education system is a scam that turns vulnerable young Americans into debt slaves for life.

...I'm not much of a conspiratorialist, but it is good to hear differing opinions...thoughts?

Thoughts?

First off, shameless advertisement for their organization....also, I might quibble about a few of his assumptions and figures.

However, that being said, I think he got some major things right.

I think the system is overpriced due to factors that have nothing to do with the free market, I think the system does steer people towards these type loans, and I think these loans are geared towards making maximum return without regard for how it impacts the individuals.

But does it have to be a conspiracy? Certainly not, and probably isn't...

Instead, isn't this the current business model for the world?

Money flows upward to the big banks and comes down in the form of loans with harsh conditions attached. Works the same for the interaction between the World Bank/IMF and third world countries, and works the same between the big banks and the individual. Credit cards, student loans, etc. ...Pick your poison.
