On the first line, point conceded. I would argue though that what we're seeing with the growing conservative counter-culture mvmt. these days is but another iteration of something we've seen in society over the ages: as one set of cultural norms becomes dominate in society, a counter-culture arises to challenges, akin to William F. Buckley's famous dictum about standing athwart history and yelling "Stop!"
