His books are a great read, but I've always been a bigger fan of his short stories. After reading Everything's Eventual a few times , '1408' was one I kept finding myself reading again and again. I was surprised they made it into a movie but after watching it I realized they'd added other significant plotlines to flesh out the story which I felt detracted from the original, short chilling tale.

That one stuck out in my mind when I started writing this, but after thinking on it I'd have to say my favorite is 'Last Rung on the Ladder' from 'Night Shift'. (Reddit user Fishious1)

I believe the only short I read from him was "The Body".
