In the midst of turmoil and chaos, there's a literal "Voice of Hope" in the Middle East. An American evangelical radio network is broadcasting messages of hope and peace to the Middle East, marking the first time a Christian broadcast frequency has been allocated by the state of Israel.

Voice of Hope began broadcasting in March on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, adding a new ministry to radio outreach in Africa, and North and South America. John Tayloe, founder and president of the Voice of Hope, says the signal reaches people in Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus and Jordan, and expanded night-time coverage reaches into Turkey and Egypt.

In the region there are millions who have never heard the gospel, he says, and also many Christians who feel like they live in isolation.

The radio network follows a music format that includes Christian music written and sung by former Muslims who are now Christian believers.

"And they're singing about that struggle. They're singing about that relationship they have now with Christ," says Tayloe. "So it's powerful music, powerful tools, to draw people together and lift up the Lord. And of course it is the message of peace and hope for the region."

The studios are located in Israel on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.
