![]() Texas voters went to the polls today for the nation's first major sset of 2018 primaries and the folks over at Daily Kos have been tracking tonight's results; polls closed at 8pm everywhere in the Lone Star State, 9pm in the El Paso region of Far Western Texas..... (Daily Kos) TX-03 (R): The GOP primary to succeed retiring Rep. Sam Johnson has long looked like a snoozer, and the early results show nothing different. With over 30,000 votes in, most of which seem to be early ballots, state Sen. Van Taylor is taking 86 percent of the vote |

(Daily Kos) TX-32 (D): About 20,000 votes, most of them early, are in for the Democratic primary to take on GOP Rep. Pete Sessions. Colin Allred, an NFL player turned civil rights attorney, leads with 40 percent; Allred didn’t spend much money, so it would be a big surprise if he ends up leading the rest of the filed by this much. It’s a tight three-way race for the second spot in the likely runoff: Former TV reporter Brett Shipp is at 17, former Department of Agriculture official Lillian Salerno at 16, former Clinton aide Ed Meier at 15. (Daily Kos) TX-21 (D): In the Democratic primary for this open 52-42 Trump seat, establishment favorite Joseph Kopser leads, but with only 31 percent among what looks like mostly early votes. Mary Wilson, who hasn’t attracted much attention, is in second with 28, while former congressional staffer Derrick Crowe is at 25. |

(Daily Kos) TX-21 (R): The GOP has a crazy 18-way primary to succeed Lamar Smith, but two leaders are emerging from the wreckage. With mostly early votes in, former Ted Cruz chief of staff Chip Roy is at 25, while former CIA officer William Negley is at 22; these were the only two candidates to benefit from outside support. Perennial candidate Matt McCall is all the way back at 10. (Daily Kos) TX-06 (R): With about 20,000 mostly early votes in for the GOP primary to succeed Joe Barton, who is leaving after a sexting scandal, establishment favorite Ron Wright is at 48 percent, very close to what he needs to win outright. Veteran Jake Ellzey, who has Rick Perry’s support, is all the way back at 24, while no one else is breaking 7. |

(Daily Kos) TX-02 (R): With just under 25,000 mostly early votes counted in the GOP primary for this open 52-43 Trump seat, state Rep. Kevin Roberts is leading with 38 percent. Wealthy GOP donor Kathaleen Wall, who spent millions of her own money on TV, surprisingly is a distant second with 28, not that far ahead of veteran Dan Crenshaw’s 21. (Daily Kos) TX-07 (D): With about 16,000 early votes in for the Democratic primary to take on John Culberson, attorney Lizzie Pannill Fletcher is in first with 31. Laura Moser, who needs no introduction, is edging cancer researcher Jason Westin 22-20 for the second runoff spot, while nonprofit head Alex Trintaphyllis is at 16. |

(Daily Kos) TX-05 (R): About 18,000 votes are in for the GOP primary for this safely red seat. State Rep. Lance Gooden leads with 29 percent; fundraiser Bunni Pounds, who has the support of retiring Rep. Jeb Hensarling, leads ex-state Rep. Kenneth Sheets 23-17 for second. |

....going off DK's Texas Primary live-blog.... (Daily Kos) TX-21 (R): It’s still looking like a Roy/Negley runoff. With about 27,000 mostly-early votes in, Roy, Ted Cruz’s former chief of staff, leads with 27, Negley 19, perennial candidate Matt McCall at 12. |

(Daily Kos) TX-Sen, TX-Gov: No surprise, but the AP has called the Democratic Senate primary for Rep. Beto O’Rourke. The gubernatorial race is almost certain to go to a runoff: With several large counties reporting their early votes, former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez leads businessman Andrew White, the son of the late Gov. Mark White, 42-32. Whoever emerges in May will have a very uphill battle against GOP Gov. Greg Abbott. (Daily Kos) TX-16 (D): We have 26,000 in mostly early votes from this safely blue El Paso seat, and some very good news. Former El Paso County Judge Veronica Escobar, whom Daily Kos is supporting, leads with 61 percent, far ahead of main foe Dori Fenenbock’s 22. |

(Daily Kos) TX-23 (D): GOP Rep. Will Hurd will likely be one of the top Democratic targets anywhere. With about 12,000 votes in, mostly early, former Air Force intelligence officer Gina Ortiz Jones leads with 47 percent, not far from the majority she’d need to win outright. Former federal prosecutor Jay Hulings, whom much of the national and San Antonio Democratic establishment backs, is a distant second with 17, not far ahead of teacher Rick Trevino’s 15. (Daily Kos) TX-05 (R): Got a jump in this safely red seat, but leaders the same. With about 22,000 votes in, still mostly early votes, Gooden leads with 26, Pounds 22. Sam Deen, who we’ve heard very little about, isn’t far behind the second runoff spot right now with 19 percent. |

(Daily Kos) Bexar County District Attorney: One important Texas primary that’s been low on the radar is the District Attorney contest in Bexar County, one of the state’s most populous counties (home of San Antonio) and one with a Latino majority. Democratic incumbent DA Nico LaHood ran up a long list of actions that you wouldn’t expect from any Democrat: appearing on conservative talk radio to warn about Sharia law, frequently touting the debunked vaccines/autism link, and being loudly pro death-penalty. LaHood was challenged in the primary by defense attorney (and former law partner) Joe Gonzales. Gonzales is winning the primary with 60 percent and LaHood has conceded defeat. Gonzales faces GOP nominee Tylden Schaeffer in November in this blue county. |

(Daily Kos) TX-29 (D): In the primary for this safely blue seat, state Sen. Sylvia Garcia, who has the backing of the local Houston establishment, leads Tahir Javed 63-22 with about 10,000 mostly-early votes in. Javed used his personal wealth to run ads, but Garcia already represented most of this seat in the legislature. (Daily Kos) TX-21 (R): The 18-way primary for this 52-42 Trump seat may be going in an unexpected direction with about 37,000 votes in, most still early. Former Cruz chief of staff Chip Roy remains in first with 26, but former CIA agent William Negley is edging perennial candidate Matt McCall just 18-16 for the second runoff spot. State Rep. Jason Isaac, who is not Captain Lorca, is at 9. |

(Daily Kos) TX-21 (D): On the Democratic side with about 31,000 mostly-early votes in, things aren’t looking great for frontrunner Joseph Kopser is leading Mary Wilson 31-28, with Mary Wilson at 24. Kopser decisively outspent the entire primary field, so it would be very underwhelming for him if he winds up in only the low 30s. TX-23 (D): About 23,000 votes are in, and while Jones is still well ahead, it looks like she’s in for a runoff. Jones leads with 39, while Judy Canales, a former Department of Agriculture state leader, is in second with 18. Trevino and Hulings are at 17 each. |

(Daily Kos) TX-21 (R): With about 40,000 votes in, including only about 4 percent of Election Day precincts, former CIA agent William Negley is barely clinging onto the second runoff spot. Negley leads perennial candidate Matt McCall 17.9-17.4; former Cruz chief of staff Chip Roy remains ahead with 26. |

(Daily Kos) TX-27 (R): The GOP primary for this safely red seat to replace retiring Rep. Blake Farenthold isn’t going as we expected. With about 13,000 mostly-early votes in, former Victoria County GOP Chair Michael Cloud leads former state Water Board Chair Bech Bruun 38-33. Bruun was seen as the clear frontrunner, and it will be a surprise if he takes second to Cloud, who raised little money. (Daily Kos) TX-05 (R): This safely red district, which stretches from the Dallas area into rural East Texas, is reporting a bit ahead of most seats. With about 35,000 votes in, including 17 percent of Election Day precincts, state Rep. Lance Gooden leads with 31, while perceived frontrunner Bunni Pounds leads little-known candidate Sam Deen just 22-19 for the second runoff spot. |

(Daily Kos) TX-23 (D): We have a big bump in this swing seat. With 23,000 votes now in, including 15 percent of Election Day precincts, Jones still leads with 40. It’s a tight race for the second runoff spot: Trevino 18, Canales 17, Hulings 16. (Daily Kos) TX-27 (R): Things are better for Bruun in this Corpus Christie seat. With 20,000 votes in, including 12 percent of Election Day precincts, Bruun leads Cloud 39-32. |
