Texas voters went to the polls today for the nation's first major sset of 2018 primaries and the folks over at Daily Kos have been tracking tonight's results; polls closed at 8pm everywhere in the Lone Star State, 9pm in the El Paso region of Far Western Texas.....

(Daily Kos) TX-03 (R): The GOP primary to succeed retiring Rep. Sam Johnson has long looked like a snoozer, and the early results show nothing different. With over 30,000 votes in, most of which seem to be early ballots, state Sen. Van Taylor is taking 86 percent of the vote

(Daily Kos) TX-Gov (D): No surprise, but the AP has called a runoff. Lupe Valdez leads Andrew White 42-29, no one else is breaking 8.

(Daily Kos) TX-05 (R): We’re up to 40,000 votes and 38 percent of the Election Day precincts, and it’s the same story: Gooden 34, Pounds 21, Deen 18. We never mentioned Deen once in the Daily Digest, and it’s quite a surprise he’s doing this well.

(Daily Kos) TX-21 (R): With about 46,000 votes in (11 percent of Election Day precincts), it’s Roy 27, Negley 18, McCall 17. We had one former congressman on the ballot, but his second comeback bid is going down in flames. Quico Canseco, who was elected in the neighboring 23rd District in 2010 and lost re-election, is at just 4 percent of the vote. Canseco ran for the 23rd in 2014 again and lost the runoff to Will Hurd 58-42.

(Daily Kos) TX-32 (D): With about 25,000 votes counted and about 21 percent of Election Day precincts in, there’s little change in the primary to take on GOP Rep. Pete Sessions. NFL player-turned-civil rights attorney Collin Allred is at 40, former TV journalist Brett Shipp leads Lillian Salerno, a former Department of Agriculture official, 17-17, a margin of 89 votes. Former Obama State Department official Ed Meier, who spent by far the most, is at 14.

(Daily Kos) TX-23 (D): About 29,000 votes and 31 percent of precincts are in, and there’s been a small but potentially important shift. Jones still leads with 39, now Canales edges Trevino 19-17, Hulings 16. Canales and Trevino both raised little money, but they have different bases. Canales is the one candidate from outside the San Antonio area, and Trevino has focused on Bernie Sanders’ supporters. Hulings is doing surprisingly poorly.

(Daily Kos) TX-06 (R): About 60 percent of Election Day precincts are in, and establishment favorite Ron Wright is further away from a majority. Wright leads Ellzey 43-23, no one else comes close. This seat is likely to stay red.

--BULLETIN (AP) — George P. Bush, GOP, nominated Land Commissioner, Texas. (Ken Thomas, Associated Press - 6 March 2018)

--Right now the biggest story in the Texas primaries is that the top fundraisers in Dems' three most targeted seats (#TX07, #TX23 and #TX32) are all in danger of missing their runoffs.(Robert Wheel, LLC - 6 March 2018)

--Beto O'Rourke (D) is at 64% statewide and will obviously avoid runoff for #TXSEN, but so far his numbers in lots of rural TX aren't living up to the 254-county tour hype. (Dave Wasserman, Cook Political Report - 6 March 2018)

--In #TX07, Fletcher led Moser by 19 points in absentee voting, 7 points in early voting and thus far they are tied in ballots cast today. Def. a DCCC backlash going on here. With the trend line- Westin led Moser by 5 in absentees- the attacks prob. pushed Moser into runoff here. (Ben Tribbett, 6 March 2018)

--Most valuable commodities in this crowded #TX07 field may have been free publicity & outsider cred. DCCC attack helped give Moser both. (Dave Wasserman, Cook Political Report - 6 March 2018)

(Daily Kos) TX-27 (R): About 48 percent of precincts are in, and Bruun is still doing surprisingly bad. Cloud leads him 35-32, with no one else clearing 12. We originally wondered if Bruun could win this outright, but that’s very much not happening.

(Daily Kos) TX-07 (D): We finally have some more numbers here. With 30 percent of the Election Day precincts reporting, attorney Lizzie Pannill Fletcher is in first with 31. Laura Moser, whom the DCCC very much does not like, is leading cancer researcher Jason Westin 24-20 for second. Nonprofit head Alex Trintaphyllis, who decisively outspent his rivals, is at 15.

(Daiky Kos) TX-02 (R): About 23 percent of Election Day precincts are in for this open 52-43 Trump seat. Roberts leads with 36 percent while Wall, who spent heavily, is leading veteran Dan Crenshaw just 27-24 for second.

(Daily Kos) TX-06 (R): The GOP primary to succeed Joe Barton looks pretty locked in. With 80 percent of Election Day precincts in, establishment favorite Wright is at 44 Ellzey at 23, no one else close.
