![]() Texas voters went to the polls today for the nation's first major sset of 2018 primaries and the folks over at Daily Kos have been tracking tonight's results; polls closed at 8pm everywhere in the Lone Star State, 9pm in the El Paso region of Far Western Texas..... (Daily Kos) TX-03 (R): The GOP primary to succeed retiring Rep. Sam Johnson has long looked like a snoozer, and the early results show nothing different. With over 30,000 votes in, most of which seem to be early ballots, state Sen. Van Taylor is taking 86 percent of the vote |

--A good night for women in Texas, with the congressional delegation set to jump from three to at least five, maybe as high as eight, depending on whether one of the two Dems win in TX-07, Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones wins in TX-23, and Republican Kathleen Wall wins in TX-02. That’s pretty good given that only six women have ever represented Texas in the House, and of the four who actually served at least one full term (sorry, Snelly Gibbr), three of them are currently in office. Of those three, the latter seems most likely to miss it, as Wall is just barely in second place with three-quarters of precincts reporting, and that’s despite her massive early vote advantage, which means she’s losing badly in e-day returns. So all the likely upside is on the Democratic side, and if we do end up winning 2-3 House seats in November, the Texas Dem delegation may be nearly half women. (Daily Kos) TX-02 (R): With 72 percent in, Roberts is going to the runoff with 34 percent of the vote. Wall is edging Crenshaw just 27.1-26.6 TX-06 (R): With all precincts in, Wright takes 45, Ellzey 22, no one else clears 8. TX-07 (D): With 75 percent in, the AP has called a runoff spot for Fletcher, who leads with 30. The AP hasn’t called the other spot, but multiple other media organizations project it for Moser, who leads Westin 24-20. TX-21 (R & D): The AP has called both runoff slots for both candidates. For Team Red, Roy leads with 27. In an upset, McCall edged Negley 17.1-15.5. For Democrats, Wilson took first with 31, while Kosper edged Crowe 29-23. Kosper was seen as the clear primary frontrunner before Election Day. |
